Strongest Scammer: Scamming The World, One Death At A Time-Chapter 124: Qi Refining Realm Foes
Chapter 124: Qi Refining Realm Foes
Li Mei clapped her hands happily.
"Marvelous! Now you’re ready for Phase Two!"
Han Yu’s smile faltered.
"Phase Two?"
Li Mei pulled out a massive syringe filled with a suspiciously glowing purple liquid from behind her back.
"Of course! You didn’t think we were done, did you?" she said sweetly.
Han Yu took a single step back.
"Stay. Away. From me."
Li Mei giggled mischievously and started advancing.
Han Yu turned and bolted out the door, broom in hand, running for dear life.
Behind him, Li Mei’s laughter echoed through the servant quarters, loud and cheerful and absolutely terrifying.
The Twin Leaf Peak Sect would never know what hit it.
Han Yu ran without looking back, weaving through alleys, leaping over low fences, and narrowly dodging confused senior servants who shouted after him.
He didn’t stop until he reached the outer gardens, where the bamboo groves grew thick and the mist rolled lazily across the ground.
Only then did he dare glance back.
No sign of Li Mei.
He sagged against a tree, panting heavily.
"That woman is a demon..." he wheezed. "An actual demon..."
The broom trembled in his grip, more from trauma than fatigue.
After catching his breath, Han Yu gathered himself.
"Focus," he muttered. "I have bigger problems than her right now."
The words of the conspirators still echoed in his mind.
’Suppression talismans... assassination... pills won’t work...’
They were planning something big. If they couldn’t poison him or overwhelm him with brute force, they would likely send someone far stronger next time. Maybe even a true Qi Refining realm cultivator.
Han Yu’s expression hardened.
He needed to be ready.
No more running. No more depending on luck and Li Mei’s... experiments.
It was time to fight back.
He spent the rest of the day quietly preparing.
From the supply area, he managed to "borrow" several sturdy ropes, some steel nails, and a few old but serviceable talismans that had been discarded because of minor imperfections. They could potentially explode, but he could still work with them. He didn’t need them perfect — he just needed them functional enough for a nasty surprise.
And if they did explode, all the more better.
Han Yu rigged up traps along the small servant pathways he often used, camouflaging them under the foliage and stones. Tripwires that would unleash a volley of weighted nets, talismans set to trigger a blinding flash of light or possibly explode, and even a pitfall cleverly disguised by bamboo leaves.
"If they want me," Han Yu muttered, hammering a nail into a tree with the side of a rock, "they’re gonna have to bleed for it."
By nightfall, he had turned his corner of the servant area into a deathtrap.
And just in time.
As the moon rose high and the mist thickened, Han Yu sensed movement.
Silent footsteps, barely disturbing the ground.
He crouched in the shadows, broom across his knees, heartbeat slow and steady.
Three figures emerged from the mist.
They wore black robes and masks, moving with the grace of trained assassins. Each carried a short sword glimmering faintly with cold light.
Qi Refining cultivators.
Low stage, maybe early or mid stage, but still a huge leap above any Body Tempering realm fighter.
Under normal circumstances.
But Han Yu was no ordinary Body Tempering realm cultivator anymore.
And this wasn’t a normal fight.
The lead assassin raised a hand, signaling the others to fan out. They advanced silently, confident in their superiority.
Han Yu waited until the first one stepped onto the pressure trigger hidden beneath a rock.
SNAP!
A net whipped upward, entangling the assassin in steel ropes reinforced with beast leather. He struggled, but the ropes tightened, pinning him in midair like a trapped fish.
The other two froze.
Han Yu moved.
BOOM!
He exploded from the shadows like a cannonball, broom sweeping out in a wide arc.
The second assassin tried to parry with his sword, but Han Yu’s strength overwhelmed him. The broom struck the man’s wrist with a sickening crunch, sending the sword flying.
Han Yu followed up with a brutal elbow to the man’s chin, lifting him off his feet and sending him sprawling into a bush.
The third assassin reacted faster, slashing horizontally.
Han Yu ducked under the blade, feeling the cold air whistle past his hair, and countered with a sharp thrust of the broom handle into the assassin’s solar plexus.
WHUMP!
The man folded like a wet paper crane, gasping for air.
Not giving him a chance to recover, Han Yu spun, grabbing the assassin by the collar and flinging him bodily into the nearest tree.
CRACK!
The impact knocked the man out cold.
Han Yu stood there for a moment, breathing heavily, surveying the wreckage.
Three Qi Refining realm cultivators, all neutralized in less than a minute.
A month ago, he would’ve had to beg for his life.
Now...
Han Yu cracked his neck and grinned.
"This feels kinda nice," he muttered, twirling the broom like a spear. "Maybe I should pick fights more often."
Before he could enjoy his small victory, a slow clap echoed through the mist.
Han Yu snapped his head toward the sound.
A tall figure stepped into view, wearing a flowing white robes embroidered with symbol of the Twin Leaf Peak Sect — a sign of an outer Sect disciple.
The man’s face was sharp and cold, his eyes gleaming with disdain.
"You’ve improved," the man said lazily. "But you’re still trash."
Han Yu’s grin faded.
He recognized that voice.
Senior Brother Lei Xing.
A powerful figure among the Outer Sect, known for his cruelty and pettiness. Rumor said he was already at the Peak Stage of the Qi Refining realm.
Han Yu gripped his broom tighter.
"This wasn’t supposed to end here, was it?" Han Yu said quietly.
Seeing that Lei Xing was here, Han Yu knew for sure someone in the Inner Court was involved. The assassins he had fought might be the other outer Sect cultivators, or possibly even outsiders that had been brought in secretly.
