Strongest Demigod System-Chapter 109: Just One
BOOM!
Azrael shot off the ground and ran straight for Jahosapheth! The angel wasn't in a ready position yet, so Azrael assumed that he would have enough space for a single slash at least!
Just one slash that was damaging enough to give him an advantage.
Azrael wasn't asking for too much!
And from what Azrael just heard, the angel also lacked a lot of power! Being in the mortal plane must have made it lose most of its ability due to the difference between it and its summoner!
That meant that Azrael had more of a chance of winning!
He just had to –
Jahosapheth moved.
It was like the wrath of nature itself.
Like the splitting of the earth caused by a shift in the tectonic plate.
Jahosapheth's lance cut across the air in a lazy arc, like he was swatting away a fly with nonchalance.
And the room split in two.
BOOM!
A massive implosion rumbled across the room as a long line tore through its center from Jahosapheth's lance, causing most of it to begin crumbling under the sudden strain! Azrael had barely avoided his head being taken off by ducking below the attack, but he saw some of his hair falling to the ground around him and he felt his heart shake.
He had almost died just then!
[Assimilation] has been activated.
[The opponent's attack patterns are being studied.]
[Time until complete Assimilation: 3 Minutes]
Messages from Azrael's new God Aspect appeared in his vision, but Azrael ignored all of them. Three minutes for assimilation? Wasn't he going to be dead in three minutes?
Azrael didn't stop moving!
He knew that if he stopped now, there was no way he would be able to get his legs started again!
The fear of the creature before him was threatening to squeeze its way into his heart, but he refused to allow that emotion to overwhelm him.
Azrael began to recite the Litany of the Divine Immortal Soul in his head to calm himself, and he slowly felt his mind clearing as he headed straight for Jahosapheth!
~Foolish Mortal.~
Jahosapheth mused in a deep, mysterious tone as it raised its shield, and Azrael immediately felt all the warning bells in his head telling him to move!
Azrael jumped to the side just as Jahosapheth thrust his shield forward, and Azrael felt the air pressure from the bash toss him to the side!
The wall opposite the angel was erased from existence as it crumbled into nothing from the pressure alone, and Azrael had to scramble to his feet and begin moving again as Jahosapheth turned his attention back to him!
Azrael's eyes were set on Harold, and he was racing toward him with his sword ready. Harold realized what was happening and screamed!
"Help! Help me!"
Jahosapheth was there once more!
The angel appeared beside Azrael and bashed him with the shield!
BOOM!
This time, there was less air pressure than before because Jahosapheth didn't have time to charge up the bash.
But that didn't make the bash any less destructive!
Something broke in Azrael's left shoulder.
His arm crumbled like paper under the weight and twisted gruesomely as he was sent flying through the air! Azrael slammed through multiple glass cases before he finally smashed into the wall on the other side of the cave!
BOOM!
A large crater appeared on the wall, and Azrael fell to the ground in a heap. But less than a second later, his eye shot open and he raced to his feet!
BOOM!
An attack landed against the wall behind him, smashing it to pieces, and Azrael slid behind one of the platforms that used to hold an artifact to try and catch his breath.
He glanced down at his left hand and grit his teeth when he saw the gruesome sight. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
It was absolutely ruined.
Azrael immediately brought the [Shard of Aradite] out from his Divine storage and put it on, and he felt the condition for the artifact taking hold as fifty percent of all his mortal stats were immediately taken from him.
He was going to die at this rate.
Azrael realized how outclassed he was by his opponent. And even as his arm began to slowly heal due to the effects of the [Shard of Aradite], he knew that he couldn't win against Jahosapheth like this.
He looked around him at the artifacts that had fallen to the ground everywhere.
Azrael needed something to help him even the playing field.
But without holding each of the artifacts, he couldn't know what they would be able to do for him.
Azrael didn't want to pick any random artifact that would end up being useless.
Finally, Azrael's eyes landed on a golden disk a few meters away from him. It looked like a flat plate as large as a car tire, but Azrael immediately recognized it for what it was.
A shield.
If Azrael was going to pick up an artifact, then it would be best for him to choose something he could use to defend himself!
Azrael immediately tossed his sword away and ran forward to the shield!
Another slash from Jahosapheth's lance sent more rocks flying around the room, but Azrael dodged it in time as he dived forward to reach the shield!
His left hand was useless, so he held the shield in his right hand while facing the large Fallen angel.
And Azrael prayed that the effects of the shield would be worth it.
…
[The user has acquired the [Golden Shield of Hector - E]]
Golden Shield of Hector: An artifact containing the warrior spirit of the great Trojan hero, Hector, bestowed upon him by the Roman goddess Venus as a reward for his bravery.
Effects of the [Golden Shield of Hector]:
+30% Boost to all mortal stats.
All physical attacks will lose 20% power when blocked by the shield.
Conditions for use:
The user must have a Mortal Ranking below C.
…
'Perfect!'
Azrael cried out in his mind as he saw the effects of the shield! Azrael already had a boost from the [Effigy of Baphomet] that was still in effect, so he currently had a cumulative 40% boost on his stats from the two artifacts.
Azrael faced off against the towering monster before him and held the shield aloft with a steady hand.
Around his neck, the [Shard of Aradite] was working extra hard to heal his broken left hand, and Azrael only had to hold out for about two minutes before the arm was completely healed.
~Your pathetic attempts at survival amuse me mortal. I have seen many such as yourself approach the Veil of the Immortal Celestials, and all have fallen before my lance.~
The Fallen Angel spoke in a monotone voice that echoed with power, and Azrael tightened his hand against the shield strap while taking in a breath.
He just had to hold out for two minutes.
Just two minutes.
SLASH!
Jahosapheth brought his lance down in a vertical slash and the world tore down the middle!
BOOM!
Azrael jumped to the side just in time to avoid the slash, and he ran around as the Fallen Angel followed after him with another slash that almost took off his face!
Azrael stopped dead in his tracks and fell to the ground as a shield bash destroyed the wall behind him!
Azrael rushed to his feet and attempted to move, but another shield bash followed the first one, slamming into his golden shield and sending him into the wall behind him!
Azrael coughed as he felt his internals squeeze from the pressure!
This was not going well.
Azrael turned to Jahosapheth and his eyes widened as he saw the lance heading straight for his skull!
The shield came up and the lance struck it right in the middle!
Clang!
Crack!
The shield cracked from the strain, but its internal ability to reduce the impact damage from physical attacks prevented the thrust from exerting its full power, and that was the only thing that allowed Azrael to survive at that moment!
Azrael tilted the shield to the side and deflected the thrust into the wall before he bolted to his feet and raced away from Jahosapheth!
Azrael put some pressure on his left hand and was glad to notice that he finally had some feeling in the hand again.
It wasn't perfect, but Azrael knew that he would at least be able to use it to grip the shield!
Azrael transferred the shield over to the left hand and he stretched out his right hand to summon the Oathkeeper blade to him!
At the same time, Jahosapheth was preparing to unleash another slash toward Azrael!
The blade flashed across the room and into Azrael's outstretched hand, and Azrael immediately activated his artificial God aspect!
[Frozen Tundra] has been activated!
[+20 to all stats]
A sea of white spread quickly over everything, flash-freezing the room in one sweep! Azrael felt his Divine Essence take a massive dip from the strain of activating the E Rank God Aspect, and he immediately reduced the output of Divine Essence to make sure that he didn't overdo it!
Azrael released a cold breath and prepared for another charge.
