Standing Next To You-Chapter 163: Problem Abroad
Chapter 163: Problem Abroad
The car pulled up in front of the Lin’s mansion guest building.
As Sophia arrived in the living room, she discovered Richard sitting on the couch.
A surge of frustration and anger boiled within her. The emotion she had been restraining seemed to have found an outlet. She began screaming.
"You! Where did you go?! Don’t we have a deal? I thought you were working on Bei Sangyun, but you’re just slacking off here! Do you know what kind of embarrassment I had to endure because you’re not doing your part?!"
Richard, who was having a headache in the messages he was reading, was suddenly jolted by Sophia’s scream. He was already in a bad mood and Sophia’s sudden outburst just worsened it.
"You’re becoming unreasonable lately. Just because I spoiled you doesn’t mean you can yell at me like that," he snapped darkly.
Sophia’s eyes welled up with tears. "It’s because you didn’t keep your word! If you had been there, Bei Sangyun wouldn’t have been able to shame me. It’s your fault. You attended that school a few days earlier than me, but why haven’t you done anything?"
Richard massaged his temples. If not for a sudden trouble back home, he could have focused entirely on this matter, and the hunt would have been over by now.
However, after the incident with Code, messages from friends abroad kept flooding in, urging him to return. He was still in the midst of investigating.
"Something happened back at home. I was distracted for a while," He then briefly explained to Sophia that some of their past crimes that they had done together with his friends- their partners in crime- had been exposed back in their home country.
Because they weren’t there, most of the burnt was received by their friends.
"That’s why you’re not at school earlier," Sophia said, calming down. There was no way her brother would lie. "How serious is it?" freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"I’m not sure, but it’ll end soon. If this problem affected our friends, there’s a big possibility our family already knows about it. Grandfather has no choice but to get involved. He’ll clean it up for us."
This method was shameless. However, if there was a matter that Richard and Sophia couldn’t handle themselves, Mr. Simon would step in and help them clean up the mess. Then their crimes would be completely covered. The worst they could get from their grandfather was being grounded for a month or two.
This was why both Sophia and Richard were confident in playing to their heart’s contents. Becuase no one could put them in jail even if they were caught.
Sophia sank into the couch. "Since that problem will be over soon, come and help me. It’s hard to approach Fei Chuan with that bitch around."
"You don’t have to worry. I’ve already prepared some things for her."
Despite being busy, Richard had no intention of letting Bei Sangyun and Fei Chuan off the hook. He recruited a lackey to trouble Bei Sangyun. Her origin of birth had already been exposed thanks to his sister. The rumors were already big enough for Bei Sangyun’s plate to handle.
And once more trouble came her way, Bei Sangyun would surely be on her wits ends. Like his previous plan, he would come midway and pretend to help her.
"I already have plans for it. Just wait a few days," Richard declared confidently, convinced that Bei Sangyun would soon fall into his hands.
This hunt was taking more time than the usual hunt, so he upgraded his plan and immediately cornered Bei Sangyun by using those people. He too was getting impatient. He wanted the result soon.
"Did you not hear any news at school today?" Richard suddenly inquired. If his instructions were followed, a significant fight must have unfolded at school.
"What kind of news?" Sophia replied, oblivious to the events.
Richard was taken aback. He pressed further, "Like a big fight or something."
"There’s nothing like that. The school was so boring. And that bitch was constantly getting on my nerves."
Richard frowned. No fights? Had Da Li not initiated the plan yet?
"What about Fei Chuan?" Richard asked.
"What about him?"
"How is he? Is there any rumor about him?"
Sophia found her brother’s question peculiar. "He looks fine. Thanks to me, all the rumors are about Bei Sangyun being an illegitimate daughter."
"He looks fine?" Richard questioned in surprise.
He already gave the information to Fei Chuan’s half-brother but that guy wasn’t able to do anything? How come Fei Chuan was still fine?
Did he put too much hope in that guy? It seemed that Fei Ling was useless.
Unlike what Richard thought, it wasn’t that Fei Ling or the Fei family was useless. It was just they couldn’t punish Fei Chuan because the latter had been too fast to move away before the rod of punishment struck him.
....
At the Fei mansion, a group of youths sat on the lounge, their laughter harmonizing with the sounds emanating from a video playing on a large screen.
Tears of laughter welled up in the eyes of a man who was in his early twenties. "That bastard didn’t notice it until he was scolded by the teacher. Haha. Look at him walking around with that pasted on his back! I wish I was there to see it!"
A woman who resembled him looked at the screen with disgust. "No wonder he didn’t notice. How could he be aware of his surroundings when he was only looking at the ground like some coward? Looking at him just made me embarrassed. He is bringing shame to the family."
"Sister Meng, Brother Yu, don’t be too hard on my brother. He spent a decade in some village. I heard he only stayed in the small villa and didn’t go outside to socialize. Now that his environment has suddenly changed, he’s having a hard time adjusting," Fei Ling spoke, pretending to defend his brother.
The man called Brother Yu stopped laughing and stared darkly at the screen. "If he’s going to be like that, it would have been better for him to stay there for the rest of his life. Why did he have to come here?"
