Spy-x-War Showdown-Chapter 67 - 66 7 Days
67: Chapter 66, 7 Days
67 -66, 7 Days
Yang Yi didn’t want to reason with anyone in prison, yet he couldn’t just stay silent and let others manipulate him.
“Officer, I just want to serve my sentence peacefully; I don’t want to cause trouble with anyone.
It was my good luck this time, but I was truly just forced to defend myself!”
When Yang Yi spoke, he kept calm.
His back was in severe pain, a burning agony from being struck by a prison guard with a baton.
The searing pain on his back also reminded him of one thing, this was prison.
You could state your point, but it would be best not to shout; otherwise, what you’ll get is not debate but the excruciating pain of a baton.
The warden said with interest, “You say you were forced to defend yourself?”
“Yes,” replied Yang Yi.
“Well then, provide the evidence.
There are no cameras in the showers or the changing room, so if you can find more than three people willing to vouch for you, I’ll believe your evidence.”
Yang Yi froze for a moment, then he slowly shook his head and said in a low voice, “You know it’s impossible for anyone to testify for me, officer.
This isn’t fair.”
The warden smiled and replied, “Unfair, you say?
But this is all about fighting each other; there are no innocents here.
Those black guys go to the infirmary costing taxpayers’ money, and you go to the hole.
As for the additional punishment for you, we’ll talk about that after you come out from the hole.
Goodbye, and I hope you still have the strength to face your sentencing when you get out.”
After saying that, the warden’s smiling face suddenly fell, and he coldly said to the two prison guards standing behind Yang Yi, “Put him in for seven days!”
Yang Yi didn’t know what being confined for seven days meant, but after the warden left, the guard who unlocked Yang Yi’s handcuffs said softly, “You shouldn’t have spoken just now.
Arguing will only make things worse for you.
Otherwise, you would have been confined for only three days at most.
Officer Owen doesn’t like to be talked back to; remember that for next time.”
The guard who talked to Yang Yi looked quite young, not like most of the other guards who were closer to forty years old; this one appeared to be in his twenties at most.
Yang Yi asked in a low voice, “Thank you.
Does the hole mean solitary confinement?”
The guard had only a number on his chest, no name.
The young guard looked somewhat nervous and even appeared to sympathize with Yang Yi.
He licked his lips and said quietly, “You’re a newcomer; newcomers can’t last more than three days, and you have a week.
You’d best, um, find something to do—hang in there, okay…”
The guard shook his head and whispered, “Don’t talk now; I’m taking you to the hole.”
Yang Yi felt uneasy as he was taken to a cellblock completely separate from the other cells.
Standing in front of the iron door, the young guard licked his lips and said to the guard next to the door, “He’s to be locked up for seven days.”
The guard at the door widened his eyes and asked, “Seven days?
Are you sure?”
“Yes, it’s a direct order from Officer Owen.”
Taking a breath, the guard at the door shook his head and, with a look as if he were staring at a dead man, glanced at Yang Yi before unlocking the door, saying, “Take him in.”
As Yang Yi stepped through the iron door, he heard a deep and faint roar.
The roar lasted a long time.
It wasn’t a scream, but it was filled with despair.
Yang Yi couldn’t help but stop in his tracks; the young guard, somewhat nervously, said, “Don’t stop, keep walking.”
Yang Yi continued forward until he came to another iron door.
There was a cop in the corridor, who looked at Yang Yi and then at his partner, and then laughed, “Is it him that they put in with the Boxing King and those five guys?”
“Yes, that’s him, solitary for seven days.”
“Seven days?
Oh, ha, seven days!”
After a chuckle that sounded both admiring and gloating, the policeman said, “Don’t rush, wait a second, there’s a guy who is due out today.”
No sooner had he spoken than two more guards arrived.
The guards exchanged a few words with a smile, then opened the small window on an iron door and shouted inside, “Time to come out!
Lie down on the ground!”
As soon as he finished speaking, the guard looked at Yang Yi with a smirk and then opened the iron door.
Two guards went in, and quickly, they dragged out a prisoner.
The man’s eyes were unfocused, and he reeked of filth, crying and yelling as two guards dragged him past Yang Yi.
“Disgusting, another one who can’t control his bowel movements.”
Pinching his nose with a disgusted expression, the guard standing beside Yang Yi laughed and said, “See that?
Know how long he was in for?
Three days!”
With a laugh, the guard opened the iron door with a small window above and said to Yang Yi with a smile, “Go on in, I hope your mental strength is as solid as your fists.”
Without the handcuffs being removed, Yang Yi stood at the doorway.
After hearing the heavy thud of the iron door closing behind him, he was locked in the solitary cell.
“Stretch your hands out behind you.”
Yang Yi stretched his hands through the small hole in the iron door, and the guard unlocked the handcuffs.
Then the young guard whispered, “Good luck.”
With a clang, the last little window on the iron door was also locked from the outside.
Yang Yi took a deep breath and touched his wrists.
Regardless, even though solitary wouldn’t be easy, at least he had kept his dignity intact.
Yes, even seven days in solitary would be worth it.
That’s what Yang Yi thought, so he wasn’t overly distressed about the solitary confinement.
He even took the time to survey the cell.
Fortunately, the solitary cell wasn’t completely dark.
If there was not a single ray of light, it would have been unbearable.
Truly, seven days could kill a man, but this cell, although only three square meters, had a toilet taking up almost half the space, and there was a small one-foot-square window near the ceiling.
There was no bed, no chair in the solitary cell, nothing but a small toilet.
As for bedding, of course, that was out of the question.
Yang Yi stood leaning against the wall for a while.
He didn’t think about anything, just tried to calm his mood.
After his mood finally settled, Yang Yi started to consider the possible consequences of his actions and how severe they might be.
A sentence extension was unavoidable, and it could well be for more than two years.
But besides that, there probably wouldn’t be any bigger problems.
If he was sent to the area for inmates with violent tendencies, well, that couldn’t be better.
Logically, he should end up in the high-security area because injuring five people was indeed a serious consequence.
Thinking this, Yang Yi couldn’t help but feel smug.
Yes, Yang Yi was very proud because he knew that the normal outcome for someone with his real strength was to be overpowered, but instead, he was the victor.
It was indeed something to be proud of.
It was true that the immediate result was seven days in solitary, which of course wasn’t fair, but it was an acceptable outcome.
Yang Yi couldn’t help but think about how he would get through the next seven days.
He felt they were not going to be easy.
