50: Chapter 49 University

50 -49 University

Yang Yi had never been so tired in his life; his legs were trembling, his arms ached, and even lifting his arm to swipe the room card felt like an effort.

After pushing the door open, Yang Yi felt as if he struggled to his bed, and then he just collapsed onto it.

Kate was watching TV, but when she saw the state Yang Yi was in, she turned off the TV and asked with concern, “Are you very tired?”

“I’m dying, I’m dying…”

“It’s always like this at the beginning, as long as you keep going it will soon get better, you have to hold on.”

Yang Yi reached for a pillow to place under his face, then he said weakly, “Of course I’ll keep going, don’t worry, my endurance is very strong, I can handle it!”

Kate nodded, then she whispered, “Are you going to rest now?”

“Let me sleep for a while, I must sleep for a while, I’m dying from exhaustion, ah, I really am dying from exhaustion.”

Kate seemed a bit disappointed, then she whispered, “The caregiver who came today, that girl, she’s quite nice.”

“Nonsense, four hundred British Pounds a day!

If her attitude is bad, fire her on the spot!”

Turning over to lie on the bed, Yang Yi pulled over a cup and said weakly, “I’m going to sleep for a bit, I’m going to sleep first, you watch TV, it’s okay, it definitely won’t wake me up…”

As he spoke, Yang Yi fell asleep because he was really too tired, terribly so.

Kate sighed and looked at Yang Yi, who immediately fell into a deep sleep on the bed, quietly watching him for a long time.

Yang Yi would probably sleep straight through until dawn, but at around eleven o’clock, someone knocked on their door.

While Yang Yi was sleeping solidly, Kate instantly raised her head and called out loudly, “Who is it?”

“It’s me, Danny.

May I come in?”

“Please come in.”

Kate was very curious about what Danny would want at this hour, but she still said to come in, and moments later, without anyone needing to open the door for him, Danny walked in using a key card.

Seeing Yang Yi still deeply asleep on the bed, Danny frowned and said, “He can sleep through such a loud noise?”

Kate whispered, “He must be exhausted.”

Danny shook his head, walked straight over to Yang Yi’s bed, flung off the covers, and shouted, “Wake up!

Ben, wake up!”

Yang Yi opened his eyes, still groggy, and said, “Is it morning, Captain?

So soon…”

Danny said irritably, “It’s not morning yet, go wash your face, I have something to tell you, hurry up!”

Yang Yi crawled up, glanced at his watch, then felt a particular surge of happiness because it was only a little past eleven at night, he still had plenty of time to sleep.

After getting up and washing his face, Danny was already sitting in the chair when he returned.

Yang Yi sat down on the bed and said casually, “Captain, what’s so urgent that it can’t wait till later?”

Danny looked at Yang Yi for a while, finally saying, “Night training!”

“Huh, night training?

We have to train at night too?”

Seeing the incredulous expression on Yang Yi’s face, Danny nodded and said, “Yes, I only have time in the evening, so I will be personally training you then.

Of course, if you really can’t handle it, we can skip tonight’s session.”

Yang Yi stood up in shock, rubbed his eyes, and after a moment of daze, he finally said, “No, let’s still train.

Can’t be lazy.

If laziness becomes a habit, there’s no point in training at all, we might as well not learn anything—let’s go…”

Yang Yi looked quite dejected, and Danny, staring at him, said with a strange look, “Most people only pay lip service to their desire to accomplish something.

They think about it, but as soon as they actually start and encounter a little difficulty or setback, and realize how painful it is, they immediately give up—some even quit before they begin.

But you, you surprise me.”

Yang Yi smiled and said, “Is that a compliment?

I don’t have much of a choice; since I’ve chosen this path, I must follow it even if I have to cry or crawl.”

Danny waved his hand and said, “Sit down, I was kidding.

There’s no night training tonight.”

Yang Yi looked at Danny in surprise, then quickly sat down, sighing long and saying, “Thank God…”

Danny, with a serious face, said, “Looking at the first day of your training, the results were not very promising.”

Yang Yi nodded and said, “I know, my foundation is too weak, right?”

“It’s not a matter of a weak foundation.

Of course, your physical condition is not that great.

You young people have never suffered or been tired, and bodies accustomed to sitting in front of computers playing games all day would be strange if they were in excellent shape.

But physical fitness can be trained.

What’s hard to train are mindset and experience, many things that simply can’t be acquired through training.”

Danny gestured with his hand and said with a look of frustration, “Our abilities aren’t developed through training—they’re fought out, they’re earned through bloodshed with knives and guns.

Of course, training is important, but what’s more important is what lies beyond training.

The problem now is we aren’t spies, and we’ve never taught anyone, so we’re not qualified teachers.”

Yang Yi, stunned, said, “What do you mean?”

Danny sighed and explained, “There are many types of spies, but regardless of the type, what matters more is using one’s own intellect.

To become a spy, you need to know too many things, like eavesdropping, surveillance, intelligence analysis, psychology, and more importantly, how to buy the person you’re targeting.

It’s not efficient to always send someone to steal intelligence; it’s simpler and quicker to just bribe the right person to get what you want.”

With a spread of his hands and a wry smile, Danny said, “I guess you want to be a spy like 007, but 007 is not just a spy, he should more accurately be called an agent.

If you want to be like the 007 in the movies, you have to be proficient in assassination, various languages, demolition techniques, have excellent marksmanship and combat skills—in short, becoming a spy involves learning a vast array of skills.”

Yang Yi said softly, “It’s okay, I can learn slowly.”

Danny spread his hands and said, “How long will you learn?

A year?

Five years?

Ten years?

Do you know how long it takes to train a qualified spy or special agent?”

Yang Yi said determinedly, “I’ll start with what I can learn.

I don’t care how long it takes; the important thing is that I’ve already started learning.”

Danny smiled and said, “Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we won’t teach you.

I just came to ask if you’re willing to go to university and learn how to become a spy?”

Yang Yi was stunned, then with a puzzled look, he said, “What did you just say?

University?”

Danny nodded his head and said with a serious tone, “Yes, university, a higher education institution.

It’s not specialized in training spies, but I have a friend there who is a qualified teacher.

Believe me, you couldn’t find a better teacher than him because he knows everything and is also adept at teaching others!”
