Chapter 1124. In the Past

The war amidst the frozen time lasted for a long time. Some of the gods perished, but brand-new gods were born from those corpses, rekindling the war. 004's slender figure was torn in half, but 004s from other timelines joined the fight.

The Light God was far luckier than Charles thought. Although the majority of the gods were targeting Him, He was still alive somehow. Compared to Lily, the Light God before Charles was obviously much more powerful.

Charles had anticipated the Light God's current level of strength. He could also see the Light God's many futures, and none of them depicted the Light God's destruction.

Of course, Charles hadn't come here for the Light God. He was here to seek out an energy source. He needed enough energy to transform into a higher-dimensional existence.

While They were busy above the sea surface, Charles was streaking across the sea floor. Charles was transfixed on the gods' chunks of flesh that had fallen into the deep sea.

Their writhing pieces of flesh that incessantly gave birth to brand-new gods were what he needed. Those chunks of flesh contained a staggering amount of knowledge, and each chunk of flesh was practically a library full of knowledge.

Moreover, those chunks of flesh contained a part of both 004's incomplete form and 005.

Charles had to obtain them. He cast his colossal eye capable of seeing through the past and the future on those chunks of flesh. Whenever his eye clapped on one, the chunk of flesh would gradually fade away before disappearing completely.

At the same time, Charles' spindle-shaped figure would swell up. He was "devouring" those chunks of flesh with a mere gaze. Charles refrained from assimilating them. He wasn't in a good place to do so, after all. It was incredibly risky to make such a dangerous maneuver when there were so many gods nearby.

Upon realizing that he had accumulated enough knowledge to make future breakthroughs, Charles stopped "devouring" the chunks of flesh and swam to the surface.

It was absolute pandemonium above the sea. There were even spatial rifts everywhere, occasionally spitting out bizarre and special creatures.

Some of those creatures were driven to madness by the aura of the nearby gods before immediately dying, while those a bit luckier narrowly escaped death, disappearing into the pitch-black Subterranean Sea with their minds eroded away by the gods.

"It is about time we do our duties. The world will soon collapse if we let them be." 005's thoughts popped up in Charles' mind. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

"I saw it. And it is not a desirable future at all," Charles replied. He could almost be considered omniscient due to his ability to see the future. Of course, his foresight meant that he was long aware of what he ought to do next.

"Since you've obtained what you needed, we will proceed with sealing the Light God, and I ought to go back," 005 said. She seemed unwilling to stay in the Subterranean Sea for a long time with her true power intact.

Charles' colossal figure disappeared and reappeared beside the Light God.

The Light God's radiant sunlight illuminated Charles, illuminating him inside and out. The Light God had become light itself, so He had no physical form.

The Light God didn't linger and headed east. He wanted to run away.

Charles remained calm. His tentacles waved gently at the light in the sky. "I'm going to send you to Fhtagn's side, so stop running away."

The streak of light abruptly came to a halt and coalesced into a blue sun. A zealous voice filled with fanaticism echoed from it. "I can feel your sincerity. Are you really willing to send us back to Fhtagn's side?"

Before Charles could answer, the anxious voices of the other lights echoed from within the blue sun.

"Hurry! Run!"

"Nancy, what are you doing?!"

"She has betrayed us!"

Charles' tentacles reached out and plucked the blue sun as if he were picking a peach. The seven lights that made up the Light God were one. Since the blue light was caught, the six remaining lights could only struggle in vain.

"You cannot escape. Have you not noticed it yet? The blue light has been contaminated by Fhtagn. You can take the humans here wherever you want, but Fhtagn will surely follow suit."

The Light God ceased all struggle upon hearing. The lights understood what Charles was talking about. K9 Nancy had been contaminated, becoming a Fhtagnist.

Since the Light God had fallen into Charles' hands, the nearby gods moved to surround him, and one of them was 004. 004's figure was so colossal that It almost shrouded everyone else.

004 clearly wanted to obtain the Light God.

Charles could see that, but he naturally wouldn't give the Light God to 004.

"It is its fate to be sealed. There exists a future in which you've consumed it, so I can say that you shouldn't eat it. Otherwise, you'll suffer from indigestion."

However, 004 seemed to have no intention of communicating with Charles, nor did it have any intention of giving up.

Its scales rubbed against each other, and the spacetime around Charles distorted.

"Move aside." The swarm of black dandelions in the sky coalesced into 005's form, and She hovered behind Charles.

Upon seeing another god shrouded in fog standing next to Charles, 004 instantly realized that its chances of victory were zero. It turned and drilled into the rock layer up above.

For some unknown reason, 004 took away the Foundation members throughout the Subterranean Sea.

"All of you can leave now. Rest assured, I will send Him back to Fhtagn's side. This will never happen again." Charles' thoughts were conveyed to the "ears" of all the gods present.

004's retreat, and the fact that Charles had 005 on his side elicited an immediate response from the other gods.

They quickly stopped fighting, but they didn't leave. Instead, They hid in the darkness and observed. They wanted to see for themselves whether Charles would truly send the ball of light back to Fhtagn's side.

The world teetering on the edge of collapse rapidly repaired itself, and the world soon returned to its previous normalcy.

"Let's begin," Charles said to 005, the blue light, and the god shrouded in fog.

The next second, the sea churned and split open, revealing the slumbering Fhtagn within the Dark Abyssal Trench.

The three gods—Charles, 005, and a god shrouded in fog—together with the blue light moved together, creating a seal to restrain the Light God next to Fhtagn.

The countless futures Charles had seen told him that the Light God had to be sealed. Otherwise, he wouldn't be what he was today. In other words, he had to follow the predetermined future.

Upon seeing that Charles had indeed sealed the Light God next to Fhtagn, the other gods turned and disappeared into the darkness.

Having achieved his goal, it was time for Charles to go back. He was now at a critical juncture.

Charles returned to his own timeline with a belly full of flesh. The chunks of flesh within him still radiated immense power, as they were once part of a god.

Once Charles had assimilated them, their immense power would become a part of him for the briefest moment, allowing him just one attempt.

Whether Charles could reverse the time of the entire Subterranean Sea depended on this single attempt.

Regardless of failure or success, Charles would finally be able to rest. He had struggled long enough, and he was utterly exhausted. If he could, he really wanted to do nothing and just stay still.

Just then, 005's figure became illusory. Having completed her end of the deal, it was time for her to leave.
