Shrouded Seascape-Chapter 1120. Decision
Chapter 1120. Decision
Charles looked at his daughter and reached out to hug her, but he ended up hugging the air instead. Sparkle had teleported several meters away and was glaring at him.
Obviously, Sparkle couldn't agree with Charles' plan.
"Sparkle, you know that children can't stay with their parents forever, right? You must find your own path. It's time for you to spread your wings and soar."
"Soar where?! I'm about to become an adult, but my future has already been decided! The end of the world is coming, so where am I supposed to soar?!" Sparkle exclaimed as she wept. Her heart throbbed with pain. She felt like her father had decided to abandon her.
Charles' gaze was gentle as he stared at her, saying, "Sparkle, it is my future that has been decided, not yours. There's no need for me to escape, but you can and you must."
Having said that, Charles looked at Lily in the sky. This time, they transmitted their thoughts into each other to ensure that Sparkle wouldn't hear them.
Moments later, Sparkle disappeared. It happened so fast that Sparkle couldn't even say anything. The only thing she managed to leave behind for Charles was a face marred with surprise and anger.
Charles' heart ached. This was probably the last time he would see his daughter.
"Lily, where did you send her?" Charles asked.
"Two thousand years ago. The Subterranean Sea was still very quiet and peaceful back then. It was a good place to live."
Charles slowly exhaled. He could only send Sparkle to the past. The end was approaching, and he had no idea if he would succeed. If he succeeded, he would bring her back.
If he failed, then... living in the Subterranean Sea of two thousand years ago was better than dying with him.
Having ensured the survival of his daughter, Charles' next course of action was to proceed with 005's suggestion.
Charles raised his right hand gently, and the sunlight shooting in all directions coalesced into a glowing young woman. The young woman walked up to his side and gently leaned against him.
"Do you really want to do this, Lily?"
Lily's long lashes blinked. Charles' tone of voice was bereft of any emotions he had toward her back then. In stark contrast to Sparkle, Charles had forgotten too much of his feelings for Lily.
However, perhaps this was a good thing. If there were other emotions, Charles would certainly find it difficult to make a decision.
"Yes, I really want to do this, Mr. Charles," Lily smiled and hugged Charles' arm. She ought to be happy. She was finally helpful to Charles. In addition, it wasn't necessarily a bad thing to become a part of Charles.
After all, it meant staying with Charles forever.
"Hmm..." Charles pondered and hesitated, knowing the gravity of this method.
He awakened one of his fleshly bodies in the Dark Abyssal Trench and looked at the sealed Fhtagn. Fhtagn's posture had changed again. The huge, rotting bat-like wings behind him had unfurled.
"We're running out of time..." Charles muttered and made up his mind at the sight.
The success rate was low, but he no longer had the luxury of time—no, the entire surface world no longer had the luxury of time to wait for an even better solution.
This was his only way to fight Fhtagn.
Charles looked down at Lily and stroked her glowing hair.
"Lily, since you've made up your mind, let us begin, then."
"Mmhm!" Lily nodded vigorously. Charles' determined face made Lily feel as if the Captain of the Narwhale, who had led them through countless life-or-death situations, had returned after such a long time.
Charles patted Lily's head for a while before closing his eyes and hugging her gently. At the same time, the sun in the sky descended, and the flesh island wrapped around Lily.
Charles was absorbing her, but Lily didn't resist at all. In fact, she wholeheartedly gave up everything. Charles' power grew at breakneck speed, and some knowledge involving time popped into his mind, seemingly out of thin air.
Instead of severing them and throwing them away, Charles was like a sponge, absorbing them rapidly.
Unfortunately, the absorption of such knowledge meant the rapid erosion of his humanity, and Charles could feel it. He could feel that he didn't have much time left.
At this rate, he would become a true god in at most twenty minutes.
"Lily, does it hurt?" Charles asked, staring at the girl in his arms. frёewebnoѵēl.com
"It doesn't hurt at all. I actually feel secure," Lily replied, burrowing her head into Charles' chest.
Meanwhile, Charles' eyes dimmed swiftly. His humanity was eroding as swiftly as his increase in strength. In the end, Charles said nothing. He simply lowered his head and kissed Lily's soft hair.
"Good girl... you're my good girl..."

Nene was riding her bicycle home amidst the bustling Second Street of Hope Island. She had changed significantly compared to when she was still living in World's Crown.
Thanks to the abundantly nutritious food available on Hope Island, Nene had grown much taller and prettier. Those unaware of her past would never think that she was once nothing but skin and bones.
Nene was in a great mood today, and she couldn't hide her smile at all. Of course, it was understandable, as today was her birthday. Nene believed that her parents had to have made a ton of delicious food at home.
Moreover, tomorrow was Hope Island Landing Day, which meant that the Landing Festival was going to be held. The school had also announced a three-day school break, so Nene would surely be able to play to her heart's content over the next few days.
It wasn't just Nene; any child wouldn't be able to stop smiling if they were in Nene's shoes.
While Nene was thinking about what she would do tomorrow, a figure suddenly appeared at the intersection, startling Nene. She hurriedly squeezed the brake and barely avoided hitting the individual.
Nene looked up and saw a hunchbacked old lady standing before her. The old lady was wearing a black robe full of patches, and its faded color told her that the robe had been worn for a long time.
Nene got off her bike and apologized nonstop to the old lady.
The old woman said nothing and simply smiled at Nene.
Once Nene was done with her frantic apologies, the old lady said, "Nene, long time no see. Do you still remember me?"
The old lady's squinted eyes widened slowly, revealing a pair of fluorescent green cross-shaped pupils.
"S-Sparkle?" Nene muttered and stood there in disbelief. When she came to her senses, she lunged at Sparkle and hugged her. Nene really felt like crying. Her long-lost friend had finally returned.
"You finally came to see me. Where have you been all these years? I really missed you, my best friend!"
Sparkle looked at her with a smile that contained a thousand words.
"Nene, I'm here to say goodbye. I'm leaving."
For a moment, Nene was stunned. "You're leaving? Where are you going?"
"To a place where there is no return."
