Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Planning (Extra for Alliance Leader Dreaming of Flowing Fire) (Third Update)
"Everywhere outside is teeming with Chilami, and we only have so few people left. If we run into a group of Chilami, I’m not sure if we can break through, let alone find the main force."
Qin Feng said with some concern.
"But we can’t just keep hiding here, we have to go out and try our luck. If we do encounter monsters, we’ll kill as many as we can—it’s like racking up points! It’s just a pity since we’ve finally fought our way in."
Beikaen replied with a sense of regret.
At this moment, having been silent until now, Su Ming spoke calmly.
"You should first check the condition of your mecha, see how much ammunition and how many fuel rods you have left."
Beikaen and the others were taken aback and began checking the status of their mecha.
"No way, I only have one-tenth of my ammunition left. That would be okay, but why is my fuel also almost gone?"
Batty, a classmate of Qin Feng, said in astonishment.
An Ruoxue and the others also fell silent; their situation was similar to Batty’s, with little ammunition left and fuel reaching critical levels.
Su Ming sighed inwardly. It was actually normal to have the ammunition nearly depleted, but the fuel shortage was related to a design flaw in the Advancer mecha.
The hidden-type micro beam cannon on the left arm of the Advancer mecha didn’t use separate energy clips, but was powered directly from the mecha itself.
It goes without saying that the advantage of such a design, but a significant downside was the faster fuel consumption compared to other types of mecha.
"Alas, our mecha are practically scrap at this point."
Yu Wei said with a sigh.
Rhein and the others also fell into silence; their situation was truly dire.
At this time, Lin Chuyu turned to Su Ming and asked.
"Su Ming, what should we do next?"
Su Ming pondered for a moment and addressed everyone gravely.
"Our current situation is very bad, but we are not truly at a dead end. If you still want to fight in this competition, then we need to seriously plan our next step and make the most of our remaining resources."
"Of course we do! Since we’re participating in this competition, we must fight until the last moment, even if we die on the way, that would be an honorable end!"
Lin Chuyu said without any hesitation.
"That’s right, so just say any plan you have."
Beikaen said with a smile.
"I agree, we fought hard to get here, and if we don’t do something, it would really be a huge loss."
Rhein and the others also expressed their agreement.
"Good, let’s look at the map; these mecha are preloaded with maps of Planet Tyboken. Let’s confirm our current location first."
Su Ming said succinctly to everyone.
Lin Chuyu and the others began opening their built-in maps, looking for their current position.
Within a few minutes, they all found their exact location. It had to be said that Su Ming and his group were quite lucky. Although their landing on the planet had been a chaotic mess with a significant deviation, they weren’t too far from Mox City—merely over three hundred kilometers away.
"Ha, there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. We’re not that far from the base city. Shall we go straight there?"
Zhang Yi suggested excitedly.
"That’s not going to work. Our current state is just too bad. And it’s highly likely that Mox City has fallen, definitely teeming with a massive number of Chilami. Even though we are not afraid of death, we can’t just throw our lives away."
Su Ming immediately rejected Zhang Yi’s proposal.
"Then do you have any better ideas?"
Qin Feng and the others asked rationally.
"I think we can consider Mox City, or the nearby smaller city Mox, as our next destination. Although this city is a bit small, it is closest to us, and we can look for supplies there!"
Su Ming offered his opinion, looking at the map.
"Feasible. Shall we set out now and fly straight out?"
Qin Feng asked in agreement.
"No, nine times out of ten there are Chilami lurking above us. We’ll walk back along the canyon, through the place we descended from, as far as we get close to Mox City, before going up."
Su Ming suggested the best approach.
"Okay!"
Beikaen and the others all agreed.
"Let’s go then."
Su Ming then took the lead, controlling his mecha and guiding them back.
Before long, a number of raider mecha flew out from the other side of the Great Rift Valley and landed smoothly on the ground.
Su Ming and his group looked around warily at their surroundings and the sky.
The barren grey land was devoid of any living person’s shadow, and the sky was empty, with no sign of Chilami.
"Clear!"
Rhein reported to Su Ming.
"We’ll fly low to the ground, don’t fly too high, a big target can be easily spotted."
Su Ming said gravely to everyone.
Although this meant they would move slower, it was at least safer. Their main goal now was to ensure stability.
Their mecha were in such poor condition, they definitely couldn’t sustain another battle.
"No problem!"
Lin Chuyu and the others nodded in response.
Following Su Ming, they flew low to the ground towards Mox City.
...
After a long time, Su Ming and his group arrived outside Mox City.
The city was laid out in a circle and was severely damaged. From afar, they could see collapsed buildings piled on each other, with billowing black smoke rising.
Rhein and the others looked at the shattered city before them, their nerves stretched to the breaking point, unsure how many monsters and enemies were hidden within.
Su Ming took a deep breath, waved his hand and began,
"Spread out a bit as you enter the city, everyone be careful. If you notice anything unusual, immediately report in the comm channel and support each other when nearby."
"Okay!"
Lin Chuyu and the others responded gravely, spreading out a little as they walked in.
Soon they were within the city, where the spacious streets were riddled with craters of various sizes. They could occasionally see burnt-out hovercars with only their metallic frames remaining; aside from this, the ground was marked with scorched bloodstains.
Many of the surrounding buildings had collapsed, leaving rubble everywhere with broken mechanical weaponry lying atop the debris.
Yet, the most eerie thing was that after walking around for a long time, they hadn’t seen a single Chilami Parasite.
"Something’s not right. A city overrun by Chilami should be crawling with Parasites. Why is it so quiet here?"
An Ruoxue said in the comm channel, puzzled.
"Could they be hiding?"
Qin Feng speculated apprehensively.
"The situation is abnormal, let’s all be on high alert, take extra care as we explore further inside."
Su Ming also found it strange that there were no creatures to be found; it was highly unusual. However, they had no choice but to push on and investigate further.
"Okay!"
Beikaen and the others replied one after another.
