Shadows of the Deep Space-Chapter 165: Breaking In (Part 1)
Chapter 165: Chapter 165: Breaking In (Part 1)
Tyboken City·Western Suburbs.
One after another, Second Generation Mecha·Raiders crept in, cautiously guarding the surroundings.
"Safe!"
"No abnormalities!"
...
"Received!"
Soon, a response echoed in the communication channel.
Not long after, a dense formation of mecha troops and ground combat personnel, led by Begfin, approached and then stopped in front, gazing into the distance.
About ten kilometers ahead of them lay a colossal base city constructed from countless steel and metal.
The entire base occupied over a thousand square kilometers, with a protective wall around its perimeter. Nearly half of this wall had collapsed, the broken concrete and twisted steel framework exposed to the air.
Inside, steel-constructed skyscrapers towered, alongside winding, broken sky tracks.
At the center of the base city stood a pagoda-shaped building reaching up to three thousand meters, the most famous landmark of Tyboken, the transit country, known as the World Tower.
At that moment, the World Tower had broken in half, its fractured upper part having smashed dozens of nearby buildings.
The entire base city no longer held its former prosperity; it was engulfed in flames and plumes of black smoke.
Of course, these were not important. What was essential was that Begfin and others used optical devices to zoom in and saw countless Chilami Parasites darting around the city’s airspace, searching for something.
At that moment, Irelia, piloting a Second Generation Mecha·Raider, moved beside Begfin, her eyes shimmering as she looked towards Tyboken City.
Begfin, observing the dire situation in front of him, said solemnly to Irelia,
"The situation doesn’t look good, Tyboken City seems to have completely fallen with no defensive weapons responding! Look at the number of Chilami occupying the city’s airspace; it’s unbelievably high."
Irelia, with her brows tightly knit, replied to Begfin,
"We have no way back now, even if the enemy is strong, we must attack, for courage yields victory on a narrow pass!"
"Alright! Since that is the case, let’s not delay and begin the assault, charge in!"
Begfin spoke without any unnecessary words.
"Um!"
Irelia nodded.
"Ladies and gentlemen, victory is within sight, though a thousand monsters try to block our path, they are nothing to fear, follow me!"
After speaking to everyone, Begfin led the charge towards Tyboken City.
"Kill!"
Aqua and the others, filled with adrenaline, operated the mechas and followed.
From a high aerial view, it was a spectacular sight as numerous mechas fearlessly charged towards the fallen base city.
Begfin and his team did not choose to charge from the air, as it would expose them too much, attracting a massive attack from the Chilami.
Even so, when they approached the city by flying low to the ground, some of the Chilami in the air still spotted them and swooped down attacking.
"Lord Begfin, those Chilami in the sky are heading for us!"
Uluca, piloting the Third Generation Mecha·Wind Chaser, warned Begfin while flying.
"Uluca, take a part of the men and shoot to intercept; the rest of you, do not stop, accelerate and follow me—our goal is to break into the city."
Begfin issued the commands simply.
"Understood!"
Instantly, Uluca led a team to the left, breaking away from the main force, and began shooting at the Chilami Parasites swooping down from the sky.
On one hand, this would intercept them, and on the other, it would draw all the Chilami Parasites’ attention to themselves, ensuring the smooth advance of the main force.
It had to be said that their combat strategy was very effective; the first wave of Chilami hit by Uluca and his team immediately redirected their aggro toward them.
Soon, Begfin and others neared Tyboken City, quickly crossing the collapsed city walls. But at that moment, figures resembling zombies emerged from the collapsed buildings and streets ahead. Looking out, all these deformed figures were Chilami Parasites, their numbers shockingly vast. But that was to be expected since the entire Tyboken City had fallen.
These Chilami Parasites, splitting their mouths open, emitted piercing screeches and surged toward Begfin like a tide.
"Kill!"
Begfin, like a ferocious beast, charged to meet the oncoming tide of Parasites.
He swung the two Particle Light Swords in his hands, sweeping across in one motion!
Scores of Chilami Parasites were sliced open like trash, and the cellular tissue of the cleaved sections was largely evaporated.
Immediately after, Aqua and others also charged into the monster tide.
Like a sharp knife, they brutally tore through the tide, successfully breaking into Tyboken City.
However, once they entered the building district, they soon faced even more resistance. As they advanced along the streets, various forms of Chilami burst unexpectedly from the rooftops and windows of the buildings flanking them!
Some Mecha couldn’t react in time and were directly pounced on by the Chilami, which frenziedly secreted cellular material infiltrating the cockpits.
"Ah~"
Continual screams echoed through the communication channel.
"Damn it!"
Begfin slashed a Type II Chilami Aggregate in half with one sword and, turning his head in annoyance toward his team members, cursed vehemently.
And just then, suddenly pairs of blood-red eyes lit up from behind nearby buildings.
The scanning device of the Fourth Generation Mecha·Shadow Slayer immediately emitted a piercing alarm sound.
Begfin abruptly turned his head and saw three fifteen-meter-tall, humanoid, bone-white, partially skeletonized creatures with horn-like bone projections on either side of their heads and black patterns on their skin—Type III Elite Chilami Parasites—revive from a feigned death state and charge forward at great speed.
One Second Generation Mecha was caught unawares and was instantly penetrated through the cockpit by the sharp claws of a Type III Elite Chilami Parasite, immediately eliminated on the spot.
"Seeking death!"
Beigkas, commanding his Mecha, charged forward and severed the right arm of this Type III Elite Chilami Parasite with one sword, then with a backhand strike decapitated it.
Aqua and others, piloting the Third Generation Mecha·Wind Chaser, also took on the other two Type III Elite Chilami Parasites.
More and more Chilami started to converge on this location, turning the entire area into a gruesome battleground.
