Reborn as Mr.CEO's Fat Wife-Chapter 817: Go to the Civil Affairs Bureau to Get a Marriage Certificate
Chapter 817: Chapter 817: Go to the Civil Affairs Bureau to Get a Marriage Certificate
The autumn sun is bright and splendid, with birdsong and the scent of flowers drifting through the window.
The bed inside the room is a disordered scene of intimacy, with Abigail’s arms, white as jade, wrapped around Brandon’s neck, a thin sheen of sweat moistening her hair ends and a dreamy look in her eyes. The man on top of her is just as overwhelmed, especially when the sudden sound of running footsteps exacerbates the moment.
Sounds of Threo barking and Aunt Claudia’s anxious shouts mix together, growing louder and clearer.
The two on the bed tense up, with Abigail particularly wanting to get off the bed in panic, but Brandon firmly holds onto her.
Abigail becomes frantic, "Let go of me, quick."
"How am I supposed to let go now?" Brandon clenched his teeth as he looked at the person beneath him, a stunning face also covered with a thin layer of sweat.
"Honey, just bear with it a little longer, Teddy is coming, it wouldn’t be good if we are seen." Abigail, despite her discomfort, reasoned that it was worse to be caught by her son during such tumultuous moments.
Brandon, coaxed by Abigail’s tender voice, tensed up even more. He wanted to struggle when suddenly the footsteps stopped, just as he was about to relax, his son’s anxious little voice came from outside, "Mommy, mommy..."
Both urgent and heart-rending.
Upon hearing this, Abigail no longer cared about the man on top of her, pushed Brandon away and hurried flushed-faced to the restroom. Brandon took a deep breath and lay on the bed like a salted fish, silently consoling himself that abandoning his son was against the law.
After quickly straightening herself up, Abigail found that Brandon was still flopped on the bed while Teddy kept stubbornly calling "Mommy" with patient tugs.
Caught in the middle, Abigail leaned over to kiss the unfulfilled man on the bed, only for him who usually had a good temper in front of her to dodge away.
Abigail couldn’t help but laugh and cry at this swift change, especially since the boy outside was getting restless, with his cries of "Mommy" growing more urgent. Worried about Teddy straining his throat and getting a tonsil inflammation, Abigail had to drop her pride and gently coax Brandon, "Brandon, don’t be mad, okay? Why don’t you go wash up and I’ll make it up to you tonight?"
At that, Brandon’s eyes lit up, "Three times?"
Abigail, "...Can I take back my word?"
"No," said Brandon, standing up and kissing her tender cheek before happily getting off the bed.
Watching his cheerful back, Abigail felt at a loss, secretly cursing the pervert in her heart before she went to open the door for little Teddy.
As soon as the door opened, little Teddy threw himself into her arms, eyes brimming with grievance as he looked at Abigail.
Abigail squatted down to pick up the little guy, who immediately rested his head on her shoulder, hugging her neck with his little hands, "Mommy, mommy, do you not want Teddy anymore... Mmm..."
"Not at all, how could I? Mommy loves Teddy the most." Abigail listened to Teddy’s grievances in his childish voice, heartache making her hold her son tighter, hand gently patting the little guy’s back.
"Really? Teddy loves mommy the most too." Hearing that his mom loved him, Teddy finally brightened up a bit. But when he looked up, he saw his dad coming out of the bathroom and instantly hugged Abigail even tighter, warily watching Brandon.
Brandon, sensing his son’s attitude, arched his eyebrow and stepped forward briskly, "Abigail, he’s heavy, let me take him."
But upon hearing this, Teddy clung to Abigail in the crook of her arms, stubbornly burying his little head away, decidedly not going to Brandon whom he knew was competing with him for his mom’s attention.
With a light chuckle, Brandon didn’t care about his son’s reluctance and forcefully picked him up.
Teddy was furious, crying and reaching for his mom, but unfortunately, the man holding him was as firm as iron, showing no reaction to his cries and even flashing the first smile he had since coming out of the bathroom.
Abigail, standing by, felt sorry for her son but also found the man’s childishness funny. However, she unusually resisted softening and taking Teddy. Recently, Brandon had been busy with various things and had limited days to spend with Teddy, which evidently made the little guy feel estranged from him.
Abigail felt it was time for the father and son to bond and strengthen their relationship.
After struggling in his father’s arms for a while and realizing it was futile, Teddy cleverly stopped crying and just pouted, looking amusingly adorable.
Luckily, the man had his own ways of interacting with his son and before long, Teddy fell in love with his daddy again, sitting in the living room with Brandon, playing the electronic piano.
Watching the large and the small, Abigail couldn’t help but smile unconsciously. Suddenly, she felt a gentle prod in her waist by Aunt Claudia, who looked at her puzzled. Aunt Claudia then murmured softly, "Although you’re young, you need to take care of your health. I’ve made nourishing soup for you and the young master, make sure you drink more of it during dinner."
"Oh." Abigail’s mind was still on the playful father and son, she didn’t understand Aunt Claudia at first and just obediently acknowledged. It wasn’t until dinner, seeing the hearty soup in front of them, that she understood Aunt Claudia’s hint. Her face blushed terribly, wanting to explain that they were just playing the piano last night, but she swallowed her words, worried it might just make things worse!
After lunch, Brandon and Abigail played with Teddy for a while longer. Once the little one had gone down for his nap, they quietly left the nursery, then both changed into white shirts and left the villa.
Brandon didn’t purposely clear the area; the couple stood in line holding hands like any other couple. They had decided on the spur of the moment to get a marriage certificate without choosing a special day, but it happened to be October 10th, symbolizing perfection, so there were quite a few couples, and they were particularly eye-catching.
Abigail sensed the scrutiny from around and wore a slight smile on her face, whereas Brandon acted as if no one else was there, clinging to Abigail’s waist as if afraid someone might steal her away.
By the time they queued up to the hall, someone had already posted their marriage certificate news online, and some even secretly took pictures of them.
The couple didn’t mind at all, carefully filled in the information as instructed by the staff, submitted it, then went to take photos, and under the witness of the civil affairs bureau staff, they read their wedding vows and received the little red book.
Upon leaving the civil affairs bureau, Abigail couldn’t help but glance at the photo on the marriage certificate, where they were in sync, both smiling charmingly.
Brandon reached out and took Abigail’s copy into his own hands, "I’ll keep it from now on."
"Why?" Abigail protested.
"Why? Obviously, to prevent someone from regretting it later," Brandon smirked.
Abigail chuckled lightly, "How do you know the one regretting wouldn’t be you?"
"Marrying you is something I would never regret." Brandon said and then took Abigail towards the car with a joyful stride.
Just as they hadn’t reached the car yet, Pullan rushed over, "Young Master, Mrs. Young Master, something’s wrong!"
The couple was stunned simultaneously, they had just gotten their marriage certificates, what could be wrong?
"Young Master, Mrs. Young Master, you’ve made it to the hot search!" Seeing them clueless, Pullan hurriedly added another sentence.
Brandon sighed with relief, glancing dismissively at Pullan, thinking it was a false alarm, "Making a fuss over nothing."
Pullan, "..." Did he overworry again?
However, Abigail was curious and asked, "What’s going on?"
"Someone leaked the news about you and the Young Master getting your marriage certificate, and now it has stirred up the internet," Pullan hurriedly responded.
Abigail was puzzled, "Arguing? About what?"
"Yes, arguing... who makes more between you and the second young master?" Pullan suddenly spoke with a guilty conscience, his voice fading.
"Who makes more?" Abigail’s first thought was about who earns more money; wasn’t this obviously clear?
As she was wondering, Brandon had already understood and with a proud smile, he added, "Of course, I’m the bigger earner, don’t you think so, Abigail?"
Looking at the man’s proud demeanor, Abigail vaguely understood and her lips curled up in a smile, "I’m quite profitable too."
Pullan, caught off guard, suddenly felt like he was force-fed witness PDA, giving both of them a resentful glance, "Second young master, where are we heading now?"
"To the Manor." Brandon instructed cheerily and then led Abigail into the car.
In the car, Brandon thought of something, took out their marriage certificate, snapped a photo, and then logged into his Twitter for the first time in several months to post the photo with the caption, "Yep, profitable."
Abigail, watching from the side, laughed and replied with a comment, "Yep, profitable for me too."
Brandon immediately replied, "I earned more."
Abigail gave a glance at the childish man and then put down her phone, unaware that their official announcement would soon rocket to the top three in trending searches.
Due to Brandon’s attitude, previous netizens who argued about them sent their blessings unanimously, and the Brandon and Abigail Fan Club went wild spreading sweetness. Also, some tech fans quickly edited a video combining their engagement footage from Gills City with today’s civil affairs bureau candid shots and the marriage certificate, quickly convincing many who watched the video to believe in love again.
Brandon and Abigail were only responsible for the announcement; how it developed further was handled by the Piers’ PR team.
When they arrived at the Moon Lake Manor, Teddy and Aunt Claudia were already there along with Headmaster Theodore, Abigail’s research group’s three senior brothers, Lena Locke, Wilson Jasper, Ralf, and Master Hudson.
It had been awhile since Moon Lake Manor experienced its liveliest moment almost a year ago, Housekeeper Piers had already had a barbecue grill set up by the lakeside, with rows of ingredients laid out, echoed by the joyous bustling of servants.
Brandon and Abigail came in a sightseeing car, and before approaching the main mansion, they already smelled the delicious aromas. Abigail turned her head to look at the man beside her, "Hm?"
"Happy, so I invited everyone to have a gathering at the Manor," Brandon didn’t hide his intentions, wanting to share his happiness with everyone.
Abigail chuckled and shook her head, then taking the man’s hand in hers.
Brandon felt the tender emotions of the woman next to him, his smile deepening.
"Daddy, Mommy..." Just when their gazes seemed locked in a tender moment in mid-air prompting Pullan to instinctively step back, little Teddy courageously shouted ’Daddy, Mommy’ and, dressed in a little suit, dashed over like a little cannonball.
Abigail was busy squatting down to hug him, but Brandon beat her to it by grabbing Teddy’s collar and lifting the little guy up.
Hoisted in mid-air, Teddy was not frightened at all, instead, he kicked his little legs happily and laughed heartily. Brandon poked his son’s chubby face, "Go play with your brother Tate."
"Want to play with mommy." Teddy protested. ƒreewebɳovel.com
Unfortunately, the protest was ineffective, and Brandon handed him over to Pullan standing behind them, "Go, take Teddy and Tate to play by Moon Lake."
Pullan quickly took orders, taking the two kids off to play.
Abigail watched Brandon send off their son, shaking her head amused and exasperatedly. "Aren’t you afraid that Teddy will bully you like this when you’re old?"
"That would depend on whether he has the skills to do so!" Brandon raised his eyebrows.
"Don’t be overly confident in yourself. Just because your son can’t do anything to you now doesn’t mean your grandson won’t be able to do something about you in the future." Grayson Piers just came out and added his sentiments having heard about his grandson.
Standing on the side, Abigail thought about how Brandon vexed Grandfather Piers usually, and couldn’t help but imagine the future scene of their grandson vexing Brandon, bursting into laughter instantly.
Brandon cast a glare at his wife, "Don’t be too happy. If he vexes me, he might just vex you too."
Abigail choked up, finding some sense in what he said.
Yeah, I have to teach the kids well in the future, or else I’ll be the one suffering.
Grayson disdainfully glanced at his grandson. Just then, Church Smith, Clara Smith and others also arrived one after another, and the three had no time to bicker, hurrying to entertain the guests.
By the evening, Adam Piers, Noel Roberts, Michael Piers, and David Locke arrived with gifts while Kelvin Max and Kennan Max had arrived early and were being ordered around by Housekeeper Piers.
As it was just a simple dinner gathering, everyone was relaxed: food lovers grilled, dessert lovers ate sweet treats, and the old men sat by the charcoal stove playing chess.
Lena Locke and others gathered around Teddy, Tate, and Threo, occasionally bursting into clear laughter.
Kelvin Max, Kennan Max, and Pullan finished their tasks and squeezed with Housekeeper Piers gossiping about their boss.
Adam Piers and Noel Roberts sat aside, drinking and occasionally fueling the gossip about Pullan and others.
After making a round, Abigail and Brandon sat down watching everyone—a few drinking, others eating meat, and some gossiping. The once aloof Moon Lake Manor now filled with the flavor of human life, brought a different kind of satisfaction to their hearts.
"What are you thinking about?" Brandon leaned over to look at the woman resting on his shoulder and asked with a light laugh.
"Thinking about you." Abigail looked up at the man next to her and lightly pecked his handsome chin in response.
Brandon arched his eyebrows, wanting to reflect on how his steel-hearted lady had learned to speak sweet nothings on the very day they got the marriage certificate, but saw Abigail’s eyes were misty, and her tone carried a sort of ethereal quality, "Really, I was thinking about the first time we met in Gills City. Back then, I couldn’t have imagined that one day I’d end up being with you. It’s magical."
Indeed, having just been rebirthed into Abigail Green’s world, experiencing a heart-wrenching birth, bloated and unsightly, but he was different, appearing in the afternoon sun like a deity from the backlight, unapproachable.
Who would have thought that two such different lives would become so intertwined, to a point where they could no longer distinguish themselves from one another?
"If I knew I would fall in love with you like this one day, I definitely wouldn’t have left you alone back then." Brandon said quietly. Actually, even now, after he realized his feelings for Abigail, he had regretted countless times not helping her up instead of stepping over her back then.
Abigail laughed, "If you had, would you still be yourself?"
Brandon raised an eyebrow, "That makes a lot of sense."
But he still felt fortunate for their later reunion, already favored by fate, filled with endless gratitude. Looking at the happy families and friends by the lake, and the loved one nestling beside him, he didn’t believe in gods and spirits, but at this moment, he couldn’t help but whisper ’thank you’ repeatedly in his heart.
