Reborn as Mr.CEO's Fat Wife-Chapter 562: Missing Grandpa and the baby again?
Chapter 562: Chapter 562: Missing Grandpa and the baby again?
Abigail adored this place, it felt like a series of Monet’s landscape paintings.
From a young age, she longed for the life here. Not because she liked the country itself, but because she had secretly opened a box her grandfather once cherished. It contained various things her mother had left behind, including a postcard. It took her a long time to realize the scene depicted was in Y Nation. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
It was then she became obsessed with the notion that her mother was in Y Nation.
She might have been born there.
For her graduation trip, she specifically chose Y Nation. But from London to Edinburgh, she failed to find the place. Maybe it was because she could not find the right spot or the city’s development had already swallowed the scenery from the postcard. In the end, she found nothing.
Then, on a night with torrential rain, she was suddenly filled with a sense of frustration. Her mother had abandoned her, so why was she still trying to find traces of her?
She returned home hastily.
She had only mentioned it briefly to her senior brother, and he managed to help her find this place.
Looking at the English-style countryside, Abigail found her occasional feelings of loss soothed.
She thought her mother must have had a reason for leaving her.
After staying in the hospital for so long, Abigail felt that everyone suffered and no one could escape it.
Her mother must have felt the same. Just like how she could barely remember what her baby looked like. Yet, the mere thought of losing him made her heart ache.
Thinking of this, Abigail felt a bit uncomfortable. She reached up to feel the dampness on her cheek and paused, looking at the reflection in the mirror, which seemed like her face yet not her face.
What was wrong with her?
"Missing Grandpa and the baby again?" Just as Abigail felt lost, Jeffrey Foster walked in and asked gently.
Abigail thought about it and nodded. That must be it.
"If you want, we can have another one in the future." Jeffrey put down the food he was holding and gently supported Abigail’s shoulder.
Abigail felt a strong rejection deep inside but did not want to make her senior brother feel bad. She turned her head away from his hand. "Let’s talk about it later. I’m not ready yet."
The place they lived now was a duplex small building, a semi-detached house with a private garden. The space was quite large, and the couple from the nearby farm were very friendly. They thought they were a loving couple. Though it seemed so, since moving here, Abigail and her senior brother had been living in separate rooms.
It was not that she had never thought about trying, but the physical rejection felt like a disease, preventing her from being close to him.
Abigail could not understand why either. Her senior brother explained that it was because of her unresolved issues regarding the baby.
Despite all this, Abigail truly enjoyed the countryside life. And to the south lay the sea. This small, beautiful island nation had many islands for sale. Her senior brother planned to take her to live on one of them later.
Abigail had never lived on an island and was very interested.
Now, she was all alone without any family. Besides her senior brother, she seemed to have no other attachments. She did not feel much desire to return to the hospital, finding these leisurely days quite pleasant.
Jeffrey seemed unaware of Abigail’s physical rejection. He waved his hand. "Come and try your diet meal."
Abigail sat down. "Duck egg?" A burst of inexplicable laughter echoed in her mind.
"Goose egg, stolen from Carney’s nest. Hurry and eat it before Bob finds out," Jeffrey teased Abigail.
Abigail laughed. "Then I must quickly destroy the evidence."
Jeffrey smiled and urged her, watching as Abigail seriously began to eat. His heart felt full; this was the happiness he had painstakingly obtained, and he vowed to protect it.
...
R Nation.
Brandon Piers had been observing near Matsumoto’s house for two days disguised. The master was over sixty, very low-key, with an excellent reputation. He lived like an ordinary old man, drinking tea, gardening, playing chess, occasionally treating patients who came to seek him.
But this was the man who helped Jeffrey Foster fake his death and leave Swallow City immediately.
"Second Young Master, we can confirm that Jeffrey Foster has already left with someone." Just as Brandon Piers’s frown deepened, a subordinate came in to report.
Brandon did not have to think. "Have you checked the nearby private airports?"
"There are three. Since October twenty-first, thirteen flights in total, three to Hawaii, one to Zurich, one to the Maldives, five to Australia going to Sydney and Melbourne, and three to Paris for the fashion show." Unlike Pullan, the person in front was of average height, with unremarkable features, blending into the crowd.
"Hmm. Check again. I want the details of all passengers on those flights, focusing on anyone connected to Matsumoto," Brandon instructed. If his calculations were correct, Abigail’s state when boarding should have been unclear. The likelihood of her leaving on a private plane was higher, but he could not rule out other possibilities. This was a massive amount of work, possibly including clues Jeffrey Foster had left to mislead him.
But even misleading clues needed to be followed.
"Understood."
After the person left, Brandon called Alex. "Issue a bounty in Europe for me."
"What do you need, sir?" Alex was startled. The Second Young Master issuing a bounty?
"Anyone providing accurate information about Jeffrey Foster will be rewarded three million dollars. No limit on times or duration until we find him," Brandon said in a steady voice.
"I’ll take care of it right away." Alex, knowing the domestic situation, understood the urgency.
"Also, in addition to acting secretly, make sure not to harm anyone. The bounty will be void if anyone gets hurt." He could disregard Jeffrey’s safety but had to consider Abigail’s.
"Understood, sir. I know what to do." Alex acknowledged the importance of safety once the bounty was issued.
Brandon made a sound of agreement and hung up, looking at Matsumoto’s house on the wall monitors. The surveillance was split into twelve sections, showing the inside comprehensively without any blind spots.
"Why don’t we just bring that old man over and interrogate him? He surely knows Jeffrey Foster’s whereabouts." David Locke, who was in R Nation for a photo shoot, crossed his legs. Since everything requiring public appearances was handled by his people to avoid suspicion, he asked.
Brandon glanced at him indifferently. "He’s a stubborn old man. If we can’t get anything out of him and trigger an international incident, will you take responsibility? Besides, it’s not certain that Foster’s people aren’t watching Matsumoto."
It would create an uproar rather than effective interrogation.
More importantly, if Abigail really underwent hypnosis by this old man, he might still need him after finding Abigail. Now was not the time to tear their relationship apart.
Once a person had a weakness, many things became cumbersome. He was no exception.
"Alright. I never expected that fool to give up such a bright future for a woman," David sighed. Jeffrey Foster had a significant reputation in the domestic medical field. With the Foster family’s support, he could have achieved even greater success. Unfortunately...
David hadn’t finished lamenting when he felt a cold gaze directed at him, making him shiver. "I suddenly remembered I have an unfinished scene. Goodbye, goodbye..."
Waving at Brandon, David made a hasty retreat.
