Chapter 438: Chapter 354: Changes in Territory (Please Subscribe!)_1
The transaction was completed between the two.
The fighters under Ling immediately began loading the trucks, while Wangsa’s men quickly joined in to help.
Wangsa came over.
"Leader Ling, I wonder if we would have the honour of visiting your territory." Tang Kai suddenly asked.
After saying this.
Tang Kai stared at Ling’s face, thinking there might be a reaction, but there was none at all.
As if the words he had just said were not intended for him.
Such a familiar feeling.
"You can, but there is a limit to the number of people. Commander Wangsa and you can each bring one person in," said Ling, pretending to consider for a moment. This was not a top-secret area. If Tang Kai wanted to inspect it, then just let him do so. The initial secrecy was merely to control the population flow, facilitate registration, and allow the people within the territory to adapt to standardized management.
Now all these have nearly been accomplished, and the system has been almost implemented. There’s no need to keep up with the previous alert.
This territory.
Tang Qing had never intended to keep it closed off. He welcomed flies and mosquitoes as countless surveillance devices have been installed all around the territory. In addition to the many fighters scattered throughout the extensive mountainous area, any outsider who dared to cause trouble would be taking on a high-risk task.
"That’s great, when can we go?" Before Tang Kai could answer, Wangsa enthusiastically asked, who had just walked over.
Ling turned his head and wore a smile that was not quite a smile as he looked at Wangsa.
Seeing this expression.
Wangsa’s face suddenly stiffened, reminded of his comrades who had laid on the river beach. He felt a little awkward.
Ling chuckled lightly, turned his head to Tang Kai and said, "Boss Tang, it’s late today. I will personally take you guys on a tour tomorrow morning to treat you well, and send you back in the afternoon."
"Alright, Leader, head back early to rest. We’ll handle things here," said Tang Kai. He didn’t feel comfortable going over now.
"Alright, see you both in the morning," Ling said his goodbyes as the cargo was finally loaded and ready.
Then he got into his car and disappeared into the mountains with his convoy.
And the ’Management Center’ resumed its tranquility.
The guards stood post.
The sentinels kept watch.
A peaceful scene.
"Boss Tang, let’s have a good drink tonight." Wangsa slung an arm over Tang Kai’s shoulder and proposed.
"Sure, but let’s finish up work first." Tang Kai laughed.
Back at Wangsa’s camp.
Tang Kai had one of his fighters take the two trucks of goods back to Bangkok, leaving one to protect him. Like before, Wangsa dispatched two military off-road vehicles to escort the convoy, one leading, one following.
Tang Kai wasn’t worried about anything going wrong. After all, if there was trouble, his presence wouldn’t help, and might even provide an extra hostage.
And, the ’road toll’ this time was also not expensive, just a hundred thousand dollars.
At night.
Wangsa arranged for Tang Kai to stay in a superior room.
Looking at the luxurious decor of the room.
Obviously, this was what Wangsa used to entertain his VIP guests. Previously, when he slept here, he did not receive such treatment. Tang Kai chuckled at the thought. It seemed that in the past, Wangsa only regarded him as an ordinary friend. After all, a jade merchant might not be considered much of a VIP in Wangsa’s eyes.
A quiet night.
Tang Kai was not used to sleeping in someone else’s house and retired early. The fighter also took a nap in the room.
But Wangsa didn’t go to sleep that early.
Back in his room.
He closed the door.
Wangsa dialed a number.
"Son, what is it?" A deep voice sounded on the other side.
Wangsa immediately replied respectfully, "Father, Tang Kai’s transaction has just been completed. The goods are on their way back to Bangkok, and we received a hundred thousand dollars. Tang Kai also proposed visiting Ling’s territory, and Ling agreed. We can go tomorrow morning, but each of us can only bring one person." His father, now a high-ranking military official in Thailand, always disciplined him from a young age. Hence, he always held a sense of fear and respect for his father.
"Oh? That’s good, go and check what exactly they’re doing over there." The voice contained a hint of surprise.
"Yes, but father, their requests are getting stranger and more extensive, as if they’re preparing to construct a city. They need a lot of factory equipment, rebar, cement, even food. If it continues like this and they become self-sufficient, won’t our goods have no one to be sold to? Why did you agree to this business in the first place?" Wangsa asked in confusion.
He had asked this question back then as well, but his father did not answer, telling him to consider the long-term ramifications. However, after so much time, he still couldn’t figure out how far into the future he was supposed to look.
"This is why you’re stuck in that little corner. I can’t trust you out in the world. My son, if you want to rise to the top, you need to consider the bigger picture. First, you need to understand a basic logic: if someone isn’t an enemy, or a stranger, then surely they are a friend. When such a friend makes requests that aren’t unreasonable, will you meet them or not?
Further, why sour the relationship when they could easily figure out what you’re thinking? There’s a saying you should engrave in your brain: the most secure relationships aren’t based merely on interests or emotions, but on both—only in such circumstances may long-term interests be protected.
It’s not that they can’t get their hands on this equipment without us, it’s just that it’s more troublesome. Why should we play the villain when we don’t have to?
Second, it comes down to investment. I quite believe in these forces. They’re strong, organized, disciplined, decisive in action and have a sense of proportion. They meet all the criteria for investment. Being their friend, especially a neighbor, might benefit us greatly. As for what kind of benefits, I won’t tell you. All you need to know is that whatever they want — excluding weapons — you should sell, as long as they are paying us.
Remember, my son, if our family wants to thrive continually, money is just one small aspect, power is the essence. Remember everything you see tomorrow and report it to me."
"Alright, father."
Wangsa readily agreed.
After his father’s teachings, he felt as if he’d gained some enlightenment, and yet, it also felt like nothing had been said at all.
This intelligence.
He believed that it might be better for him to stay put here since venturing out might result in his demise.
"Hmm."
After hanging up the phone and hearing the beep at the other end,
Wangsa finally dared to disconnect the call himself.
Taking a deep breath, he dialed another number: "Inspect all the factory equipment from the batch, can be sent over tomorrow."
After giving instructions, he hung up.
Looking out at the torrential rain pouring outside, Wangsa puffed on his cigar, pondering his father’s words.
Thinking back, it began to ring true.
His obsessive pursuit of profit was like a spell, causing him to lose focus on other important things.
...
Early the following day,
Tang Kai was up early, not because he wasn’t accustomed to the bed at home, but rather he was fond of it too much.
However, there was someone who got up even earlier, an insomniac Wangsa who, after thinking of the day’s task and his father’s words, had a restless night. Luckily, he was young enough that a lack of sleep wouldn’t affect him too much.
Having finished breakfast,
The day was just beginning to dawn.
The two hastily headed to the ’port’.
They couldn’t help it as they had forgotten to set a time for their meeting the previous day, so they arrived early to avoid keeping the others waiting.
But seeing the figures on the other side of the river, they knew that they were still late.
After a bit of awkwardness,
They stepped into ’Ling’s’ vehicle, an old military jeep. Though a bit worn out, it was well-maintained. Seeing the antiquated vehicle, Wangsa even took pride in it. This was the difference between regular and disorderly. However, due to restrictions, he dared not sell any military equipment or vehicles to them.
He would be inviting big trouble if he sold any such thing.
The car smoothly pulled out.
Driving along the familiar old road into the mountains.
Just as expected, hard-surface treatment had basically been completed on all the roadways. The two-lane cement road of unknown thickness looked solidly built, not a makeshift one. Surprisingly, bridges had been erected at many places, albeit small ones, and the traffic situation had improved a great deal compared to their previous visit. freewebnσvel.cѳm
The vehicle drove rapidly. In no time, they passed the hilly area and reached the somewhat flat land.
Observing the terraced fields in the distance, and the growing rice, as well as the people laboring away from a distance,
Tang Kai kept nodding his head, wishing they didn’t cultivate any harmful plants after all.
