Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s-Chapter 439: Not Understanding the Hint
Chapter 439: Chapter 439: Not Understanding the Hint
Chiang Xiao nearly choked to death on her own saliva.
Future brother-in-law?
"Hey! Dai Gang, look, Chiang Xiao has brought some delicious food!" Gong Xinhe exclaimed, his eyes shining as he dashed straight for the table laden with a pile of edibles.
Chiang Xiao immediately walked over and took out two small jars, each half a pound, filled with shredded meat.
She handed them over, one jar per person, no need to fight over them. She had indeed brought their share this time, so they’d better not snatch away Tyrant Meng’s portion again. Who knows how long his face would darken this time if they did.
"This is for you guys, I made it with my own hands."
Chiang Xiao felt that this statement was already hinting at something.
Didn’t they all know that Meng Xinian’s stuff was made by his fiancée? So now that she’s saying she made these things with her own hands, shouldn’t it be clear about her status?
Unfortunately, she was just too young, and they never considered that Meng Xinian would be the type to go after someone younger—much less someone this young—so they hadn’t even contemplated that possibility.
They were both greatly surprised, "Your sister can make this, and you can too! Yours must be delicious as well!" Hearing someone greet Meng Xinian outside, the two of them instantly changed their expressions and dashed out fiercely at the same time.
"Goodbye, Chiang Xiao!"
"We’ll come to see you when we have time!"
They did want to chat with her a bit more, but Captain Meng was back!
If he came back and saw Chiang Xiao had given them shredded meat, he might very well use force to snatch it back. They were no match for Captain Meng, so to save their shredded meat, retreating was the best strategy!
As soon as Meng Xinian had gone up the stairs and turned the corner, he saw Dai Gang and Gong Xinhe clutching something tightly in their arms, sprinting past him at a speed akin to a gust of wind.
He had never seen them move this fast during training!
"Goodbye, Captain Meng!"
"Goodbye, Captain Meng!"
Both of them shouted from a distance.
Meng Xinian’s mind raced, and he immediately cursed under his breath.
He knew too well what his men were like.
He strode back to the dormitory to find Chiang Xiao looking at him with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile. Everything seemed to be in order, and he breathed a sigh of relief while asking, "Everything alright?" His gaze, sharp as an eagle’s, swept around the room.
When he saw that the edibles had clearly been tampered with and two jars were missing, his face darkened instantly.
Those two little wolves!
He knew then what they had been clutching in their arms!
"What could be wrong? I brought their share intentionally. You don’t need to be so stingy," Chiang Xiao chuckled, realizing from his expression that he had caught on.
This man had a gaze as piercing as lightning.
"Me, stingy?" Meng Xinian huffed.
She had no idea how fierce those wolves could be.
She sent some things over the last time, and he got to eat only one bite! Just one bite! Could that really be considered stingy?
If he weren’t stingy, he probably wouldn’t even know the taste of the delicacies she sent.
Life in the district’s military team was dull, and the meals in the canteen rotated through just a few options, so of course, Chiang Xiao’s cooking was irresistible to them.
As a result, the most popular conversation in Second Squad of District 157 became, "Has Sister-in-law sent something?" "Not yet, no clue when she will."
Or perhaps, "This time Sister-in-law’s cooking seems even tastier than last time!"
"Yeah, exactly, but sadly I only had two bites."
Conversations like these were common.
