Chapter 80: Chapter 80 Climbing Over the Wall (Reward for Extra Chapter)

(Thank you Moon Shadow Dark Star for the reward, adding an extra Chapter, thank you for your support~)

She often sat alone on top of Phoenix Mountain, sitting there for the better part of a day.

Gazing at the noisy Wutong County below and the busy crowd, she reflected on the meaning of her starting over.

In the beginning, she was unable to walk out of the grief of Bai Zhixi’s departure, feeling that her second chance had been a failure.

Later, Bai Zhixi’s words before her death replayed over and over in her mind, prompting her to ponder about how she should live her life henceforth.

Eventually, she reminisced about the dissatisfactions of her past life and suddenly realized that, while she couldn’t fight fate and prevent Bai Zhixi’s death, her life had still changed.

At the very least, Bai Zhixi didn’t die alone at a shoe repair stall; instead, she left this world with a smile. By starting over, Chuchu had mended Bai Zhixi’s regrets.

By starting over, she had made changes, instead of continuing her past life without change.

She resisted the likes of Liu Li and won, and now Liu Li is still in prison, while her future is bright;

She exposed Zhuo Yao’s hypocrisy and was no longer deceived by her, and even Zhuo Yao didn’t get into as good a university as she did in their past life;

She studied hard and got into the nation’s best university, becoming the pride of many, and her future would no longer be wasted away in some small factory;

She actively changed her relationship with Bai Zhixi and actively sought ways to get rich, altering the dire straits of her family’s life;

She met Dabai and Xiao Bai, gained Xiao Bai’s friendship and kinship, and learned about Bai Zhixi’s origins.

Although Bai Zhixi is gone now, she can still continue to change.

For instance, cherish her university life, strive to excel, rather than being indifferent as if living like a walking corpse;

For instance, be a good person, bloom in the sky like a firework, making people remember Bai Zhixi and Wan Shiguo because of her forever;

For instance, no longer entangle herself with Jiang Kechu, and no longer be a pest to the Jiang Family, letting both live well separately.

At this thought, Wan Chu’er smacked her forehead; oh no, she had forgotten something.

In her past life, after Bai Zhixi passed away, Jiang Kechu came to Wutong County specifically to console her.

It was then that she capriciously proposed to Jiang Kechu, and he actually agreed.

Thinking it over, she realized this was supposed to happen around these days. She wondered if Jiang Kechu would still come to find them; last time they were still living in the Glass Factory Family Quarters.

With this in mind, Wan Chu’er hurried down the mountain, thinking that this time she would meet Jiang Kechu again, but the meeting wouldn’t be like it was in her previous life.

She understood Jiang Kechu; if he couldn’t find her, he wouldn’t easily leave Wutong County.

Might as well meet him, after all, he is kindly coming to comfort her, an orphan who has lost her parents.

How Jiang Kechu knew of Bai Zhixi’s death was a mystery to Wan Chu’er; she suspected that Wutong County had Jiang Kechu’s informants, specifically watching her family’s affairs.

When Wan Chu’er returned home, she specifically asked the nearby convenience store owner and learned that no man in military uniform had come looking for her, so she let it be.

Having thought it through, Wan Chu’er decided to cheer up from today onward; she was certain that Bai Zhixi and Wan Shiguo would never want her to be depressed for so long.

There were two more weeks before she had to report to the first university in Beijing, and she needed to take care of some matters, like the rented courtyard she was currently living in, as well as the house in the Glass Factory Family Quarters, and those donations had to be made again.

First, she tidied up the house, then she called a second-hand furniture dealer, after some bargaining, she sold all the furniture that could be sold from her home.

Then, she summoned the scrap collector and sold the remaining items as junk.

By evening, the home had become empty and vacant, and Bai Zhixi’s traces were almost invisible. She was momentarily bewildered, unsure of what to do next.

Suddenly, she remembered that she hadn’t practiced martial arts in a long time, so she started to perform her punches with precision and form in the courtyard.

Jiang Kechu arrived in Wutong County at around eight o’clock in the evening. Without pausing to rest, he went straight to the small courtyard opposite the market.

He wanted to make sure that everything was alright with Wan Shiguo’s survivors; otherwise, he would feel uneasy.

Two years ago, when he last visited Wutong, Wan Chu’er wore a ponytail that swung with pride as she walked, just like the girl herself. He wondered what she was like now.

Losing a father and then a mother must have been difficult for an eighteen-year-old girl.

Approaching the small courtyard, he saw the wooden doors tightly shut, unsure if anyone still lived inside.

As he pondered whether to knock on the door or not, he suddenly heard some noises coming from inside. Listening closely, it sounded like a fight.

Jiang Kechu’s thoughts raced, and he took a couple of steps back, then with a leap and a jump, he scaled the courtyard wall.

As Wan Chu’er twirled around, her head turned towards the direction of the courtyard wall, and she saw the upper half of Jiang Kechu appear atop her home’s wall. Thinking her eyes were playing tricks on her, she closed them, and upon opening them again, saw nothing.

Outside the courtyard wall, Jiang Kechu felt a tinge of embarrassment. He had been caught in the act of climbing over the wall.

He hadn’t expected Wan Chu’er to be practicing martial arts. Based on the spin he had just witnessed, her movements were clean and sharp, and her posture seemed agile.

He saw when Wan Chu’er briefly closed her eyes and hoped that she would just think it was her imagination.

He was about to slip away quietly when Wan Chu’er’s voice came from inside.

"Uncle Jiang, is that you? I saw you."

Hearing the title ’Uncle Jiang’, Jiang Kechu’s face darkened. Hearing footsteps from inside the courtyard, he quickly dashed forward and disappeared in seconds.

Wan Chu’er, inside the yard, looked blankly at the now empty wall, then quickly snapped out of it, convinced that she couldn’t have been seeing things.

Jiang Kechu actually climbed over the wall!

Wan Chu’er’s mouth twitched, and the thought crossed her mind, prompting her to shout out what she had just said.

This will teach you a lesson!

Sure enough, when she opened the courtyard door to check, there was no one outside.

Wan Chu’er pursed her lips, returned to the yard, and fastened the door from the inside.

It seems Jiang Kechu was too ashamed to see her. Well, it made sense; he had been caught climbing over a wall—if it were her, she too would be too embarrassed to face anyone.

She glanced at her watch, washed up, tidied up, and then lay down to rest.

The next morning, as usual, Wan Chu’er woke up early. She exercised in the yard and then went out to the market to buy a bowl of meatball noodle soup for breakfast.

After eating, she did not wait at home for Jiang Kechu. She took some items and headed to school.

Wan Chu’er went straight to Teacher Zhu and explained the purpose of her visit.

Teacher Zhu was surprised; she had not expected Wan Chu’er to donate the charity money she received from the community back to the school.

Wan Chu’er sincerely said: "Thank you all for your kindness, but I hope to put the money to better use. I am grateful to the school for nurturing me, so please, Teacher Zhu, help me donate this money to the school. I dislike trouble and don’t want to draw any attention, so I’m sorry to trouble you with this."
