Rebirth: I Am Not the Movie Queen This Time-Chapter 140 Settlement (No More Today)
Chapter 140: Chapter 140 Settlement (No More Today)
"You should wear more than just these two pieces of clothing, right? Did Wan Chu’er forget again?"
Jiang Kechu looked at the T-shirt and trousers in his hand, hesitating for a moment, wondering whether he should find her two more pieces of clothing.
Inside the restroom, Wan Chu’er felt anxious, muttering to herself: "Jiang Kechu, don’t you dare make decisions for me." After estimating the time for a while, she raised her voice and shouted, "Uncle Jiang, are the T-shirt and trousers ready?"
She had already given such a clear hint, you better not mess around, old man.
Hearing Wan Chu’er’s shout, Jiang Kechu raised an eyebrow, holding the T-shirt and trousers he walked to the restroom door, "Got them, just open a crack in the door."
Wan Chu’er took a deep breath, covered herself slightly with a towel, and then cracked open the door just enough to quickly grab the clothes from Jiang Kechu’s hands before closing the door tight once more.
Seeing that it was indeed only a T-shirt and trousers, she breathed a sigh of relief, quickly got dressed, and after listening against the door for a moment, she burst out towards the bedroom.
Jiang Kechu, watching from the kitchen, saw Wan Chu’er dart out, shook his head, and thought to himself that she was as nimble as a monkey. It seemed last night’s events hadn’t caused her much psychological shadow; this girl was indeed strong inside.
After getting dressed properly in the bedroom, Wan Chu’er slowly exited.
At the dining table.
The porridge in the bowl was yellow and tempting to the eye, Wan Chu’er took a big sip from her bowl.
Jiang Kechu handed her a pair of chopsticks with some side dishes, "Just some dishes to eat."
Wan Chu’er responded with an "oh," quickly finished her meal, put down the bowl, and watched Jiang Kechu eating in an unhurried manner.
"Uncle Jiang, what do you plan to do with Li Gang and those three dumb thieves who came last night?"
Jiang Kechu swallowed a mouthful of food and said indifferently:
"I’ve already had people throw Li Gang into prison. His family’s club was found involved in prostitution and drugs last night and has been seized. Take a look at today’s Beijing Daily later; there’s a report on the illegal and disorderly conduct of the Li Family. As for those three small-time thieves, they’ve been handed over to the police station. Let the law deal with them. However, we still need to investigate the employer."
Wan Chu’er was stunned by Jiang Kechu’s power. When did he become so influential?!
Wasn’t there supposed to be a trial before someone is thrown into prison?
She had thought that at most, Li Gang’s legs would be broken, no, all three of them. But Jiang Kechu was even tougher, not sparing Li Gang or the entire Li Family.
She swallowed hard and couldn’t help but recall her previous life. She didn’t realize Jiang Kechu had so much power back then.
But it’s during trouble that one’s true abilities are revealed. In her last life, besides causing trouble for herself and constantly provoking Jiang Kechu and the Jiang Family, she didn’t encounter much else and actually lived quite comfortably.
Jiang Kechu thought he had frightened Wan Chu’er when he observed her silent for so long and further explained:
"The Li Family’s affairs are not fabricated or framed by me; they truly engaged in illegal and disorderly conduct. The drug Li Gang used on you is banned, and he also intended to do indecent acts towards you; these are all his criminal charges."
Wan Chu’er quickly nodded in admiration: "Uncle Jiang, well done!"
Jiang Kechu: "..."
Alright, since Jiang Kechu had already settled last night’s matter, she didn’t need to do anything else, except go to school and slap Ma Tianjiao twice.
Looking at the composed Jiang Kechu, Wan Chu’er felt a mischievous urge stirring within her, and stretched out her own arm.
"Uncle Jiang, did you notice anything?"
The arm in front of him was fair and smooth, like jade. Jiang Kechu really wanted to take a bite or caress it, but instead he forcefully picked up the bowl and swept through the porridge inside in one go.
Wan Chu’er was unsatisfied that Jiang Kechu ignored her and lightly pounded the table with her fist, "Uncle Jiang, I’m talking to you. You’re supposed to respond, that’s basic manners."
Jiang Kechu thought to himself, if I really respond to you and give you a bite, won’t you make a fuss with me? frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
He cleared his throat and said indifferently, "What’s wrong with your arm? I didn’t notice anything amiss."
Hearing this, Wan Chu’er clapped her hands and laughed, "So you also think there’s nothing amiss, haha."
Jiang Kechu watched Wan Chu’er acting smug and squinted his eyes, feeling a bad premonition brewing inside him.
"Uncle Jiang, thank you for taking care of me. I’ve regained the weight I lost, I weighed myself yesterday, and I’ve returned to my previous weight, so... You see..." As she faced Jiang Kechu’s increasingly dangerous gaze, she gritted her teeth and said, "So, you don’t need to come over to cook for me anymore. Thank you for this period, and I thank you on behalf of my dad and mom for taking care of me."
Jiang Kechu looked at her deeply, causing Wan Chu’er to feel a bit uneasy, but he got up nonchalantly to clean up the bowls and dishes.
Wan Chu’er slumped back, thinking how could he be like this, leaving her hanging like that is bad behavior. (Except for Shama!!!)
She waited for Jiang Kechu to finish washing up and brought it up again, "Uncle Jiang, after all, we are not relatives, there’s no need to avoid any suspicion. Although you’re somewhat older than me, it’s still easy for people to misunderstand."
As she said this, she thought of the misunderstanding Li Gang had about her and felt even more justifiably indignant:
"Do you know why Li Gang treated me like that? He followed me home, and just happened to see you going in and out of my place, and then he misunderstood that I was a kept woman by you, which led to this whole series of events. It was all a misunderstanding that caused a tragedy!"
"Uncle Jiang, for both your sake and mine, it’s better for us to not have too much contact in the future. What do you think?"
The more Wan Chu’er spoke, the more she felt that what she was saying made sense.
Unfortunately, this constant use of "Uncle Jiang" and "dear sir" was making Jiang Kechu simmer with anger, and he really wanted to pin this ungrateful girl down and give her a thrashing.
But he felt it was inappropriate to do that now, he barely managed to suppress his churning emotions and said emotionlessly, "Rejected."
What?
Rejected?
Wan Chu’er’s eyes widened, she said so much and Jiang Kechu just wants to dismiss her with a "rejected"?
Seeing Jiang Kechu about to leave, Wan Chu’er quickly blocked his path and looked up, "Uncle Jiang, I protest!"
Jiang Kechu looked down at her and said, "If you want to clear things up with me, then let’s settle the accounts clearly first, and then we can clear things up."
Wan Chu’er felt a twinge of despair, sensing that things were not going well.
Sure enough, Jiang Kechu continued coldly, "I’ve cooked for you for four weeks, twice a week, at least two meals a day. Besides that, I’ve helped you with massage therapy, and just last night I dealt with two bunches of troublemakers for you.
If you want to clear things up with me, that’s fine, just return everything I did for you to me."
Wan Chu’er was dumbstruck, stammering, "How... How should I return it?"
"You cook for me twenty-eight times, give me three massages, and as for the troublemakers, consider that a discount I’m giving you. After all, you’re a woman, it’s not a big deal to go easy on you."
