Rebirth: I Am Not the Movie Queen This Time-Chapter 123: Support? Slap in the Face!
Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Support? Slap in the Face!
Wan Chu’er’s mind worked quickly, and she immediately guessed that Jiang Kechu had misunderstood, thinking that she only wanted the lantern given by Chen Xiran and not the one he gave.
She really wanted to facepalm and ask heaven, "Jiang Kechu, how can you be so childish!"
It was Chen Xiran who stole your girlfriend, you should go find Chen Xiran, what’s the use of finding me!
To avoid making Jiang Kechu angry, Wan Chu’er had to patiently explain: "Just now, Chen Xiran insisted on putting it in my hand, I didn’t want it. Before you took away the lantern, I was about to find a place to throw it away.
"I’m not a child, who would want to play with such childish things?"
After saying this, she looked at Jiang Kechu sincerely.
Sure enough, after hearing her explanation, Jiang Kechu’s expression improved a bit.
At that moment, Wan Chu’er found that her hiccup was gone, probably because of Jiang Kechu’s annoyance.
She remembered Bai Zhixi once saying, if you have hiccups, either drink some hot water to suppress it, or get angry. By exerting force, the hiccup will go away.
It really was so.
Suddenly feeling out of mood, Wan Chu’er dully said, "Uncle Jiang, I’m going back first. Goodbye."
Jiang Kechu did not understand why Wan Chu’er was still angry just a moment ago, and then suddenly looked indifferent. After thinking, he said, "I’ll take you back."
He was originally out having fun with Xiaoxiao and his cousin. There were many people here, and he immediately noticed Wan Chu’er who was full of spirits among the crowd, and his gaze could not help but stay on her.
Just when he saw Chen Xiran talking and laughing with Wan Chu’er and even giving her a lantern, anger surged in him, and he wished to beat Chen Xiran up.
After such chaos, he naturally got separated from Xiaoxiao and his cousin.
Wan Chu’er waved him off, coldly saying, "No need."
After saying this, she turned her head and left, no longer paying attention to the person behind her.
Jiang Kechu, stunned by Wan Chu’er’s dismissal, just stood there, watching Wan Chu’er walking away against the flow and felt a throbbing pain in his chest.
He clenched his fists tightly, letting his emotions roil within him, and it took a long time to slowly suppress them and regain his rationality.
Wan Chu’er’s figure was particularly noticeable in the bustling crowd, seemingly out of place with the surrounding bustle and clothed in a layer of sadness and loneliness, which tugged at his heart.
What made her sad?
Was it because of himself? Last time she said that he only brought her trouble and inconvenience, and asked him to stay away from her.
Jiang Kechu really wanted to go up... to walk by Wan Chu’er’s side, but his rationality told him he couldn’t.
He shouldn’t bring trouble to Wan Chu’er.
This young lady was unfortunate enough; she should be freely enjoying her youth, university life... not mixing with him, an ’uncle’.
This thought made Jiang Kechu’s chest feel even more suffocated. He quickly found Xiaoxiao, who was having a great time, instructed her briefly, then drove back to the base at full speed and went directly into the training field to vent his frustrations.
Wan Chu’er returned home, changed into a light set of sportswear, put on her gloves, and threw punches at a punching bag relentlessly.
Exhausted, she then held a photo of Bai Zhixi and fell asleep.
The next day was the start of the new semester, and she only went to school with a big backpack in the afternoon.
Before entering the dormitory, she heard a middle-aged woman’s voice inside, loudly speaking about something.
Wan Chu’er pushed open the door and saw in the dormitory Mai Qiqi, Lin Yufei, and Ma Tianjiao were all present, and there was an additional middle-aged woman with small curly hair.
She quickly recognized her; this middle-aged woman was Ma Tianjiao’s mother, whom she had seen last semester in the corridor.
Seeing Wan Chu’er enter, Ma Tianjiao snorted and turned her head to look at her mom.
Lin Yufei smiled mischievously at Wan Chu’er and winked, while Mai Qiqi got off the bed and said to Wan Chu’er, "Chuchu, you’re here. I was just looking for you for something. Let’s go outside."
Wan Chu’er was somewhat puzzled but also understood that something must have happened, probably involving Ma Tianjiao’s mother.
Ah, so this is playing the victim and running home to seek parental support?
Wan Chu’er didn’t show any reaction and calmly said, "I’ll put my things away first." She then took off her backpack and placed it on the table.
Mrs. Ma forced a smile and said, "You must be Wan Chu’er, right? I’m Jiaojiao’s mother."
Wan Chu’er didn’t look at her and simply responded indifferently, "Hello."
Seeing Wan Chu’er’s demeanor, Mrs. Ma faltered, feeling more convinced that her daughter was right about Wan Chu’er being arrogant and ill-mannered. She squinted at Wan Chu’er, who was busy with her tasks.
"Apparently you’re from S Province, an orphan with no parents?"
Wan Chu’er paused in her motions and a chill flashed in her eyes, but she didn’t respond.
"Being admitted to the first university must have been tough. Since you and our Jiaojiao are destined to be classmates, you should change your rustic ways and cherish your university life.
Our family only has Jiaojiao, and naturally, we want the best for her. We’ve overlooked your previous bullying of Jiaojiao and hope you can be nicer to her from now on.
Being an orphan, you must be struggling financially. Our family’s business is doing quite well, and money is the least of our concerns. For our Jiaojiao, spending a little extra isn’t impossible.
If you can get along well with Jiaojiao, her father and I might consider sponsoring you."
This long speech was full of implications, and it flowed without pause, showing her usual way of speaking in a roundabout yet sharp manner.
Wan Chu’er turned around, looked at her, and scoffed disdainfully, "I am always straightforward and don’t beat around the bush,
Firstly, whether I am an orphan or not is none of yours or Ma Tianjiao’s business.
Secondly, I prefer not to engage in pointless chatter. I don’t like Ma Tianjiao’s behavior. If she doesn’t bother me unnecessarily, I won’t bother with her since I don’t have the time or energy.
Thirdly, I don’t know if you’re aware of Ma Tianjiao stealing my Jade Pendant, but I’ll let it go this time and won’t pursue the matter further, hoping she won’t reach out her hand too far in the future.
Fourthly, I don’t need your money, and don’t bother throwing small amounts at me. If you could offer a hundred million or two hundred million, maybe I’d consider. Ten or twenty thousand? Don’t waste my time."
Her words were clear, forceful, and hit hard.
Suddenly, the dorm room fell silent, Mai Qiqi took a deep breath, a smile evident in her eyes.
Lin Yufei, if not for considering Ma Tianjiao’s mother a senior and having just consumed lots of their food, would definitely have applauded Wan Chu’er.
So refreshing, so cool!
Ma Tianjiao and Mrs. Ma’s faces changed, both looking pale and angry.
Ma Tianjiao, still naïve, couldn’t help but accuse Wan Chu’er, "Wan Chu’er, how can you be so rude, speaking to my mother with such disrespect, shouting and yelling."
Wan Chu’er coldly glanced at her, slightly raised her chin, and said, "The one shouting is you. My manners are at least better than yours. At least I’m not sarcastic all the time, acting like a rich princess, or stealing others’ belongings.
As for being polite to your mother? Who is she to me? Was she polite to me? Should I be grateful after she insulted me?"
"Ma Tianjiao, you are too much, you..."
"Jiaojiao, stop talking." Mrs. Ma held her daughter’s arm and stared deeply at Wan Chu’er, saying, "I meant well, but it seems Wan is too agitated. It appears we are not on the same wavelength; I think I need to have a good talk with the school’s leadership."
Threatening her?
Wan Chu’er laughed mockingly, thinking she was being treated like a fool who knew nothing.
Is the first university owned by your family?
Even thinking of talking to the leadership is simply laughable!
Wan Chu’er despised Mrs. Ma immensely and, not wanting to hear any more noise, promptly locked her bag in the wardrobe, left her bed unarranged, and walked out of the dorm under Ma Tianjiao’s furious gaze.
Mai Qiqi saw that and hurriedly followed her.
