Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 172: Rory?
Chapter 172: Rory?
Alex frowned while gazing at her.
"Aurora, what did you say?"
Aurora let out a small sigh, her heart sinking as she noticed his puzzled expression. Her hands clenched tightly; she knew her words would go unheard.
Nevertheless, she felt compelled to voice her feelings, or she might genuinely anger herself into a heart attack over this situation.
Her blue eyes darkened, flickering with intense emotion as she locked eyes with him. Just before he began to speak, she expressed her annoyance.
"Alex, I’ve repeated this countless times. I am her...I am Rory! I am Aurora Moon. God, grant me a second chance, and I was reborn as Aurora Spencer..." Her voice shook as she held back tears, overwhelmed by the pain in her heart.
Seeing him stare at her in silence, Aurora continues to express her frustration, "I investigated my accident because I can’t accept this, even if that person is your Grandpa! I can’t accept it, Alex... I can’t...!!"
Aurora paused again to take a deep breath while waiting for him to say something, but he remained silent.
She stopped trying to convince him; Alex wouldn’t be able to hear her, and talking to him was a waste of time.
"Alright, forget it! Being honest with you is useless because you will never hear me." Aurora said as she gently closed her laptop.
However, before Aurora could stand up, Alex’s trembling voice echoed, "I hear you!"
Aurora was utterly shocked to hear that. She lifted her head and met his gaze.
"A-Alex... do you hear me? Do you hear my confession that I’m Rory? I’m Aurora Moon?" Aurora asked while gently taking his hand. She was surprised to feel how cold his hand was.
Alex quietly nodded, a sense of emptiness filling his mind as he heard her confession: ’Rory! She is indeed, Rory!’
He had repeatedly asked her why she resembled Aurora Moon, but she always refused to answer.
Although he wanted her to be Aurora Moon, he didn’t dare voice his thoughts. He buried those feelings and never tried to ask her again.
But now, she has admitted that she was Aurora Moon. Gradually, all the hope he had harbored in his heart arose.
Aurora was overjoyed that Alex could finally hear her. Without waiting for him to respond, she threw herself into his arms.
"Alex, I know this story might seem a bit abrupt, but if you truly believe me...you can hear me fully, you’ll understand everything I have to say about Aurora Moon, about myself."
She whispered through her tears, her voice trembling slightly and filled with vulnerability. But a smile gradually spreads across her lips as Alex’s hand tightens around her, strengthening his embrace.
After a few more minutes, they simply embraced. Alex stayed quiet, and Aurora began to feel worried.
"Alex..." She looked up to meet his gaze. "Please say something, huh!? Are you really hearing me or not? You don’t believe me?"
Aurora feels a bit frustrated. His response was quite different from how Renata and Danny reacted. While they are all excited to see her again, Alex appears to be feeling down.
Now, she began to think that Alex was either not hearing her or didn’t like her.
Feeling slightly unsure, she gently released her embrace and settled back into her seat.
With a worried frown, she looked at him and asked, "Alex, you didn’t like me?"
Alex took a moment before responding to her, gently rubbing the tip of her nose as he chuckled.
"Silly girl!! Why do you ask that?"
Aurora narrowed her eyes at him.
"But your reaction looks weird! It’s different from what I expected." She was unsure if he understood the situation—she was Aurora Moon, or he already knew about it.
"What do you want me to do?" he asked with a warm smile, gently taking her hands in his.
"You already knew that I’m Aurora Moon? Since when did you know?" she asked, curious about his dull reaction.
Alex took a deep breath before responding to her.
"Well, I’ve suspected it for a long time. But you always refused every time I confronted you. Until one day, I decided not to talk and think about it anymore, worried that you, Aurora Spencer, would be jealous if I talked about YOU...about Rory!"
He lowered his gaze to their hands.
Aurora knit her brows, searching for memories of the past few weeks. She realized she had chosen not to share her identity with him since her last confession.
A broad smile spreads across Alex’s face as he looks at her adorable eyes gazing at him.
"When you mentioned that you are Rory, it brought back those memories about my suspicions about you. I was too shocked to find out I was right... I’m just too stunned to respond!"
"So you know..." Aurora was speechless. If only she had kept telling him about her identity, he migh have heard it faster.
"Rory..." Alex’s voice was less calm than before. His eyes now revealed countless emotions he had always suppressed. "Please tell me, what really happened that day? Please explain to me. How could you be reborn as Aurora Spencer?"
Aurora’s tears return, not from sadness but from overwhelming happiness. She believes it now; Alex knows she has been reborn! This is what she truly wanted to know.
She immediately told him everything after he left her for dinner with his family. She decided to return to Serendipity to continue celebrating her birthday. But the truck hit her car.
"—After the incident, I believed my soul would transition to the afterlife. However, when I opened my eyes, I found myself in Aurora Spencer’s bedroom, utterly bewildered at that moment."
Aurora paused to take a long, deep breath.
"This young, pitiful soul, Aurora Spencer, took sleeping pills and slept in the bathtub. Tina found her already not breathing, so she was likely already dead... I guess, and miraculously, I woke up in hers..."
"She took her own life? Do you know why?" Alex inquired, perplexed.
