At the elevator entrance, Lily Turner ran into Henry Thompson and Jenny York who had just stepped out of the elevator. The main reason she didn't want to come here was her concern about running into them. She wasn't afraid of these two people; she just didn't want to see them.
"What are you doing here?" Assuming Lily Turner was here to cause trouble, Henry Thompson's face darkened, and his tone was noticeably unfriendly.
Henry Thompson never used to speak to Lily Turner this way. Even when he was angry with her, he never had such a bad attitude. His harsh tone now left her both angry and hurt.
"None of your business!"
Lily Turner glared at Henry Thompson sullenly, sidestepped the two standing in front of her, and headed into the elevator. Just as she was stepping into the elevator, a hand reached out and pulled her back.
Instinctively, she followed the hand with her eyes, and Jenny York came square into her view. Jenny didn't speak, just stared at her without blinking.
Lily Turner's gaze unnerved Jenny York, making her subconsciously swallow, "Can I talk to you?"
"Do you think there's anything left for us to talk about now?"
As Lily Turner spoke, she shook her arm free from Jenny York's grip. Unfortunately, the elevator doors closed automatically at that moment and began to ascend under her sorrowful gaze.
Another elevator was stopped at the eighteenth floor, could it be more coincidental?
Lily Turner sighed softly. Seeing the situation, it would take a while for the two elevators to come down, and although she was standing with her back turned, she knew the two people behind her hadn't left.
Just as Lily Turner hesitated whether to use the stairs, Jenny York approached her, looking aggrieved, "Lily! I've been wanting to talk to you, but you don't answer your phone or reply to my messages. Meeting here today seems like fate giving us an opportunity."
As she spoke, she once again reached out and grabbed Lily Turner's wrist, this time tightening her grip to prevent Lily from breaking free.
"You want to talk to me, but I don't have time to talk to you." Lily Turner tried to pull her hand back but underestimated the strength of Jenny York's grip, and underestimated Jenny York's determination to talk to her.
Jenny York leaned closer, speaking in a volume only the two of them could hear, "If you want a crowd to watch, go ahead and struggle. I'm just an ordinary person, I don't mind."
The words were laced with heavy threats, making Lily Turner seethe with anger, for Jenny York had hit her weak spot. She truly feared public scrutiny; if someone took a photo and put it online, she couldn't predict what chaos would ensue.
"Jenny York! How did I not realize you could stoop to this level?" Lily Turner spat through gritted teeth, glaring at Jenny York before shifting her gaze to Henry Thompson standing aside, "Henry Thompson! Kindly take your woman away. I'm busy and don't have time to waste with her here."
She dreaded being watched, but even more, she feared staying with these two disgusting people, letting them sully her sight.
Before Henry Thompson could speak, Jenny York's voice sounded, "Lily! I know you're still very angry with me, but no matter how angry you are, don't do anything drastic. I don't want you to get hurt."
