“Osla, did any of them do anything suspicious?” speaking in death tongue the moment the livings left the range of her senses, Ir’Houwl addressed the nightbird.
The corpse cloaked in brown feathers appeared from behind an object that definitely was not large enough to conceal her in full and bent one knee before responding.
“They behaved, it would appear that their solar lord either truly believes that we are harmless, or at least, that there is not enough evidence pointing to the contrary for any actions to be taken” spoke the nightbird.
“Good, check for anything they might have placed still- Soldiers, inform our temporary recruits to remain concealed in the dark until further notice, make sure to keep them in a good enough state so that they can get to work the moment Watchful Undeviginti leaves, pretend to eat a good portion of what you’ll be hunting however, it would be too obvious if we did nothing but hand out food and drinks into the houses” Ir’Houwl’s words were heard by all of the undeads and they quickly went to work.
The minor lord looked over at the kneeling nightbird.
“You can stand, Osla, what news do you bring from the main world?
Are there any orders?” the two undeads began walking side by side, although Osla was a rather big cadaver, especially for a nightbird, she looked rather small next to Ir’Houwl.
“My Lord, there are no specific directives for us to follow, Ourlst, Horhir, Carnifex and Dimios believe that you are doing a great job here, as for news, I was told that Gravelord Nosferatu has been diligently training vampirelings in an attempt to groom them into minor lords, it seems like he has managed to make them awaken their own vampiric blood, so although I am no expert on vampires, I assume that it is going well…”
“Naturally, Gravelord Nosferatu is plenty capable, it is a shame that I did not meet those undeadlings before departing”
“Gravelord Dracula went to Dragonnerie and was able to secure a treaty with them, so we are expecting breakthroughs in the peculiar breath ability of the dragons soon enough… Gravelord Multaemanus and Körpersucher went and visited Bermude under the guise of deciding what goods should be traded, and found out that many ancient beasts were guarding the underwater continent”
“I see, well, that is to be expected, the seas are home to many dangers, so a civilisation that has risen to such heights would naturally govern said dangers, so I assume that there are no plans of invasion put in place yet?”
“Unfortunately no, My Lord, the superpowers did not usurp their title, they have been in place for much longer than our empire, and although we might hold control over many ways of power than they do, the one that they have available are either refined to incredibly high levels, or mysterious even to us, not to mention that they all are led by immensely powerful figures, and waging war on one will lead to war on all at once” the nightbird said, shaking her head from side to side, finding it truly deplorable that their eternal empire, home of death had to wait and build more strength even now.
“This is why General Loimos focused on the conquest of other realms rather than butting his head against the superpowers, the realms are treasure troves of materials, potential military forces and new ways of power for us to exploit, and especially special beings to bring into our empire… Can you imagine if we were able to separate the five Undevigintis and have them operate on the frontline?
That would simply be tremendous, not to mention the vapour, if we could adapt it to all suns and maybe even stars in general, we might be capable of harvesting powers unlike anything we currently have” the minor lord seemed very much confident.
“I must wonder however… Is Sir Loimos not strong enough already to defeat the champions of the other continents?
I doubt that anything could put a dent in him after he has already defeated the only one worthy of being his nemesis… With the pure living out of the picture, the power that can destroy Sir Loimos no longer exists” Osla however, had other things on her mind.
“General Loimos is indeed incredibly powerful, and I must agree that I also believe that none of the livings could hold a candle to him in a fight, but he is the pure undead and the chosen champion of death, so he certainly knows better than any of us what is best…”
“…But in any case, what other news do you have?
It seemed to me that the gravelords were doing diplomatic work?”
“Ah yes, Gravelord Vespertillo and Gravelord Atsalinopalo have gone to Lefaux under similar reasons, and have also discovered the presence of a rather shocking amount of powerful individuals”
“And lastly, Gravelord Vwoldtnir went to visit Durter, and the situation is similar there as well, although the Hierophant-Queen is definitely much friendlier than the rulers of Lefaux and Bermude, but that is counterbalanced by the archbishops who are much less so, similar to Dragonnerie, the Dragonlord might be amicable, but his servants are many times more wary of us”
“Nothing is easy, huh?”
Osla then went over what was apparently going on in each of the other realms under the conquest of Ir’Houwl’s fellow minor lords, although it was a bit hazy as the way time flowed between the realms and the main world meant that things could be progressing at the same rate for them all, but some would still be in advance anyways as they would have technically been spending much more time than some, it was just hard for the undead to notice such things as time could accelerate or come to a crawl without them actually noticing it.
“There is also news from Sir Loimos” added the nightbird, and the two undeads stopped, now standing atop the stairs leading into the solar temple.
“Is there?
So I take it that he has already conquered it and installed death, it was supposed to be impossible to go back and forth without being Loimos himself”
“Indeed, but our champion succeeding in his mission was to be expected, I was more intrigued by what sort of news I was told about… Which is not to be spread around to a certain individual”
“That is curious, what could possibly be so secretive?” Ir’Houwl leaned forward, which was an unnecessary action when speaking in death tongue but one she felt compelled to do with the shorter undead.
“…”
“…”
“I understand, that is… Quite something”
