Chapter 309: To The End Of The World

Frozen, broken, on a world of ice, Dora murmured. In front of him, Rhea was immobile, her sword in front of his face.

Her devastating attack had stopped without doing any destruction.

Both were in this pose, in a silent world, but only after one word came from Dora’s mouth.

"..."

Rhea’s sword slowly withdrew, one, two steps back, the general increased the distance between her and Dora.

Her eyes were almost the same, no particular emotion, no shock, nor joy, just a slight surprise.

On Dora’s side, his body reduced to a broken statue lowered his head, but his eyes were twitching with life.

"..."

His eyes view his legs, and the frozen ground. He tried to raise one hand, then a finger, his body was moving.

His eyes widened, widened a lot, his heart was filling with too many emotion.

Shock, surprise, devastation, euphoria, fear.

The Sin of Greed, the monster, the Personas, all fused in one body, and their mind wasn’t from this world.

"... What... Did you say?"

Rhea’s words brought more life into his behavior. He gazed at her, with eyes screaming.

Some actions weight more than words, this Dora’s eyes provoked the second true expression of surprised to Rhea.

"... I... I remember. I know who I am... I know everything."

His eyes danced, looking back at the palm of his hand, he murmured.

"... Pandora... This is... This is my true name. The... This is... This is who I was... Who... We were..."

His hand touched the ground, with an intense expression of shock his eyes gazed at the cloudy sky.

"... The world... The three... World... Everything... How is it possible? How could have I forgot everything? How did I get here?.... Uh?... This... What?"

His eye trembled, his view blurred, and for the first time since he could remember, a tear fell down from his eye.

"You.... It was you... You created this... For me?... How could you... Why did you go that far?..."

His face dropped, he was immobile for a moment, like if he had completely shut down. All this time Rhea observed his reaction with concern. Before her death, Eva had warned her of this event, and now the miracle had happened.

A little laugh emerged from Dora, Rhea was getting completely lost, she had a mission to stop fighting when Dora pronounced a name, but what if he was still trying to kill her?

She forgot momentarily how to grip a sword, but it wouldn’t be necessary.

Dora’s face lit up again, his face in tears, but with a bright smile and nostalgic eyes.

"... You idiots... You really did all of this... Even though... Why did you have to make me feel so bad?"

He smiled, and cried with a small laugh. Rhea let her arms going along her body.

Dora’s eye opened to her, and after a few seconds, he closed it and nodded.

"... Don’t worry, it’s over. We won."

Rhea’s eyes twitched, this single phrase was like a nuke on the mind. She sat down in turn and took a deep breath.

"... This is the last time I’m following an advice. I’ll never, ever let anyone the freedom to get dangerous anymore."

They shared a moment of peace together, with no word for at least two minutes. Their minds processing the apocalypse that happened, and the battle they went through.

Rhea, recovering a little mental strength, palpated her sword on her thighs.

"So... Care to explain exactly what’s happening? You remember everything, so what are we fighting for? What was Eva’s goal? Is it the end of the Twilight of Gods?"

"... That’s... a very long story... Too long for me to tell you every details. But, I’ve seen interesting things, things that I shouldn’t know in this life, that I should normally never know in this part of the tree."

"... Are you serious? After everything we went through? I feel like I’ve lost my world for this cause, don’t you think I deserve to know the truth?"

Dora closed his eye, then after a deep breath he looked at the sky. The General imitated him, both staring at the raging clouds.

"As expected, from the one who share my blood in this blood. I’ll tell you everything, but only about our world. From the beginning, to how we’re going to stop him."

"... The invader? You think you can take him down?"

"No, no one can. Not in this part, but for us... I’ve found a way to stop him. Now, where should I begin..."

Between the thunderous clouds, on the deserted surface of a planet, Dora and Rhea exchanged the tale of an ancient time.

All around the world, the miracle spread on the desolated lands, the Titans summoned shone with a green color and all turned into stardust, floating above, like millions stars above the survivors.

The hellish spectacle of the ground slowly faded away, the people, on their knees watched the rewards for their intense prayers.

It was the first ray of light, but the sky was still clouded.

Together, as one person, they prayed to create another miracle, with different words and languages, but with the same will.

"God, please, save us from the evil. Take down Anesidora."

The stars covered the sky, on every continent, united as one, and reached the little planet in which the group of warriors, too conscious of the silence, finally stopped their prayers.

"... Is it over?" Lucca murmured.

They all stared at the ceiling, for everyone, the silence was precursor of conclusion, and with the walls still standing, they considered that Dora was still alive.

"... So... Even Rhea lost?"

Freya’s head lowered. No one wanted to talk anymore, nor could think about what to say.

Giudecca trembled, for her, it was unimaginable, but the fact that Dora was alive at "the end" meant that Rhea had died.

"Well, I suppose that this is it for us too then."

The dean rubbed her pink nose, she strolled a little bit, her gaze fixed on the ceiling.

"Rhea is surely dead now, so no one can stop him now. Well, it should be my turn to be heroic, hehe..."

Behind, everyone’s head lowered. No one expected a battle against Dora, no one wished for it, but here they were.

"Fuck him... I can’t believe he killed Rhea... I’ll kill him!"

Giudecca materialized her machine gun. She stepped forward with her eyes throwing fire, stopping next to Candace.

Her reaction took everyone by surprise, Candace observed her fury for a moment, but something in it gave her the will to smile.

"... Well... If you’re going... Then me too." Lucca joined them.

The Pseudo-avatars exchanged gazes, then one by one, they stepped forward, followed by the Holly knights, and the black knights.

All siding around Candace with her in the middle, the dean frowned with a smile.

"I take it as disrespect for your elders, brats."

"I’m very good at being selfish, dean. This time you might be the one losing someone."

Next to her, Freya gave her a mocking gaze, she rolled her eyes and fixed the front, trying really hard to hide her emotion.

"I’ll hate you forever if you die before me... All of you."

Side by side, they gazed at the heaven, they were resolved to their final. It didn’t need to be epic, it just needed them to be together and die together.

Cid gave a light hit to Hope, the latter, understanding his friend trembled in fear, but took a deep breath and turned to his left.

"Before... We die... There’s something I wanted to say... Mercy..."

"... Aurgh."

The girl, without looking at him gave the most bored face ever. Hope fell his soul leaving his body, he wished to be the first to die.

"At least listen to what he has to say! It won’t hurt anyone!" Cid groaned.

"It will hurt my pride." A voice resonated from above.

They all jumped in surprise, their eyes shooting the ceiling, then widening in disbelief.

Lightning fell from above, strucking the ground in front of them.

Ambrosia’s warriors were petrified, but Fenrir’s advanced with starry eyes.

"... This voice... My God..."

"Knew it... I fucking knew it!!!"

Both Lucca and Giudecca jumped on the shadow emerging from the dust, but once the shadows became people, they froze in mid air.

"See what I’ve been dealing with for years?"

Dora patted the dust from his shoulder.
