Perfect Avatar-Chapter 259: No Respite
Chapter 259: No Respite
Zury stood behind Freya like a scarecrow. Freya looked at her, her eyes wide. What was she doing here? Where did she come from? Were the people on her team nearby?
These thoughts ran through Freya’s mind, but before she could come up with an answer, a blue pentagram formed beneath her feet.
"What?! N-n... LUST!!!!"
Lust managed to replicate Envy’s power, teleporting everyone except him.
He smiled at them as a final goodbye, and their bodies began to disintegrate.
"No, not that one."
Another black pentagram activated on the one under Marie, her disintegration stopped abruptly, replaced by several glitches on.
"Uh... W... What..."
The others disappeared without problem, leaving behind only Marie with Lust and Zury.
She looked at the girl who had been missing for days, intrigued by her action and Lust’s attitude.
"What’s wrong with you... What’s going on? Zury?... You..."
"Quiet."
Zury snapped her finger and Marie immediately lost consciousness and fell to the ground.
Lust didn’t react, focusing on the new individual who gave off a strange aura.
Zury glanced disdainfully at Marie, then focused on Lust.
"It annoys me, but we’ll need her nearby for the next part. Hopefully it won’t last long... Now... Hello, nice to meet you, the boy with the fancy hair color."
She stepped forward, then made a small bow.
"Allow me to introduce myself, I am the Sin Avatar representing Despair, Zury Carper. Nice to meet you."
Lust raised an eyebrow.
"Despair? I learned that there are seven sins, and Despair is not one of them."
Zury smiled at him, then knelt down with her hands on the ground.
"The story is too long to tell and we have too little time, so let’s get this over with."
Her aura was beginning to emerge from her body, Lust was ready to die, but with Marie at Zury’s mercy, he was having trouble coming to his senses.
"You’re here for Pride, I suppose? You’re here to kill me."
"...No...I’m only related to one person and for now...I’m only here to serve as a checkpoint."
A pentagram activated behind Lust, he froze for a moment then looked down, as a fiery wind blew across the scene.
Zury lowered her head, Lust trembled a little, then sighed and looked behind him, witnessing the last Avatar for the first time.
The three were silent, Lust and Dora locking eyes in a dying forest.
In Dora’s hands glowed the red particles from Wrath’s fight.
Lust showed less resistance in his gaze, he looked at Zury, then back at Dora.
"I see... I knew I was very popular but this is beyond what I expected... I don’t want to play anymore, so do what you have to do."
"...wise choice."
Dora raised his left foot and stepped on the ground behind Lust.
A drop of blood fell to the ground, disappearing into red particles.
Lust’s eyes widened, he slowly lowered his gaze and noticed a huge hole in his chest, his right arm falling to the ground.
It didn’t last a second, or even a moment. He couldn’t feel any pain, if his eyes weren’t working he would believe nothing happened, but it was right here, a wide space on his chest with the promise of the annihilation of his heart and his lungs.
"...You earned a quick death."
Lust slowly fell to his knees. His eyes were empty of life, his chest was disintegrating, but he felt no pain.
His vision began to blur, he couldn’t even understand what was happening, but he smiled, smiling with pure happiness.
As his consciousness faded, his last thoughts were not of using his power to save his life, but a realization that was sapping his will to fight: he was dying, he, an immortal, would escape the worst suffering.
In a fleeting moment, his mind reviewed the images of the only world he had ever known, the world of the elves, with the faces he knew over the centuries, and the 2 deities who awaited him.
"...Thank God...I’m really going to...See them again..."
He lay down delicately on a bed of burnt grass, and after a few seconds he stopped breathing.
Lust’s body lay motionless, with a peaceful face, after an eternity in the shadows, he finally showed his face to the real world and immediately vanished.
His body suddenly glowed a brilliant azure color, the light converged in a single place above him, releasing a calm breeze of energy wave, filling the area and arousing many feelings in those who witnessed it .
A soul stone, a soul stone larger than average, a soul stone stronger than all the others, for it was not just a soul stone, but something of a greater nature: the sin of lust in its pure form.
Dora held the item in his palm, one of the treasures he had was looking for in this world, but unlike Zury who showed joy in her eyes, it seemed more clouded.
"You did it... You got one of the seven... finally!"
She trembled a little as she looked at the ground.
"Amazing... it really worked... and it was so easy... now... we’re really close to reaching our goal... Oh! And what about Wrath? Will you return to him after absorbing Lust? You already surpass him, but if you absorb this..."
"I’m not going to absorb it."
Zury looked at him in confusion, Dora’s gaze moved from the orb in his hands to a spot further in the forest.
"For some people, when you absorb a powerful soul stone, your power is crippled until you assimilate the power completely. If I absorb Lust now, I’ll be on the bench for a while...but I’ll need all my power... to wistand this."
The wind returned, driving away the smell of death, slowly replacing it with the smell of danger.
Zury’s eyes tensed, looking in the same direction as Dora.
"I see... it’s already finished here."
One step, two steps, and Rhea appeared, a green orb emanating from a mystical wind in her hand.
Meanwhile, Freya, Liliana, Cid and Hope appeared on the beach which marked the start of their expedition.
It took Freya a little while to realize what had happened, but after understanding the events, she gritted her teeth.
"Damn! Damn! Damn!!!"
She jumped to her feet and started running towards nowhere, the other 3, not knowing what to do anymore, imitated her.
But a big problem arose: where to go? They didn’t remember the path leading to the elf kingdom, they didn’t even know if that was where Apophis had sent them.
It didn’t matter anyway, for Freya it was simply unacceptable to passively wait for something terrible to happen.
She was running on pure instinct, but then...
"Uh?"
She stopped abruptly, observing her surroundings with visible anxiety in her eyes.
The others joined her, a little worried about her reaction.
"Lady Freya? What...why are you stopping?"
"...Strong...there is a strong presence coming towards us."
She suddenly fell to her knees, her eyes shining.
"Liliana, Hope, quickly! Absorb the soul stones that Lust gave you!"
They realized the dangerousness of the situation, a little too late.
A fast wind passed through the area, only Freya able to see the shadow rushing towards them.
She grabbed a stick from the ground, and pointed it behind her, the stick glowing purple, pointing to the neck of the new individual whose scythe was right under Freya’s throat.
A gust of wind swept through the area, sending Cid, Hope, and Liliana to the ground.
They looked up to observe the two divine beings ready to kill each other in an instant.
