Chapter 211: Chapter 211 – She doesn’t want them

Dion descended the stairs, looking her best. She was clad in a couture gown ordered by Alex, and as usual, it had a lot of diamond embroideries that caused her to glow among the rest.

Her hair was neatly styled, giving her a graceful appearance as she walked to meet Grandpa.

The guests were just marveled at the sight of her as murmurs broke out. "Dion is alive, all grown, and so stunning."

"Alex won’t have everything anymore," Agnes was saying, but Alex glared at her.

"The King family isn’t poor, from which we are all beneficiaries. If I were to have everything, then how come you still get fat allowances?"

His words caused a layer of shame to settle on Agnes’s face as her husband chastised her. "I told you to be quiet, but that seems to be too hard for you."

"Mrs. King is so stunning, but is she pregnant? There is a little bump," someone from the crowd pointed out. Joanna smiled but did not accept or debunk the rumors.

They could think whatever they wanted, and as soon as she gives birth, everyone would know.

Violet and Aiden were so radiant as Violet embraced Joanna. Even Monica was there.

"My granddaughter had been lost, but now she’s found. Everyone, I want to introduce Dion King as my granddaughter, and she would directly be supporting her elder brother, Alexander King."

Grandpa and Alex had decided not to mention anything about her mental trauma over the years but to make it seem like a lost but found kind of a thing.

The sound of applause dominated the atmosphere, and as stunning as Dion looked, there was a lingering sadness in her eyes.

"Congratulations, Dion," one of the youngest CEOs, Brad Miller, approached and shook her hand, requesting. "If you don’t mind, I would like to take you out on a date."

Dion was quite naïve in the sense of dating and looked quite lost, but another young CEO already shook her hand and kissed the back of it.

"I’m Jack Brace, CEO of Brace and Co. Can I have this dance?"

Seeing Joanna’s discomfort, Alex went to her aid as Grandpa was dancing with Monica.

"My sister isn’t ready for a relationship yet, so I will dance with her. Give her a year or two to get accustomed to the family business before coming back."

Disappointment sat on their faces, but they couldn’t refuse as Dion sighed with relief.

After dancing with Alex for a while, she danced with her grandfather as Alex returned to his wife.

Aiden and Violet were inseparable, but at a point, Aiden danced with Dion before another façade of rumor broke out.

"I heard that the second grandson of Grandpa Aristotle, Logan King, has been disowned by the family."

Hearing this, Dion was upset, as she was already worried about her brother’s condition.

Had Grandpa not insisted on having sent out the invites and being unable to cancel at the last minute, she would have postponed the event until Logan got better.

At this point, Joan was no longer the only woman who faced the envy of others but her sister-in-law too.

"Some people are just born with a silver spoon," a woman commented, and the other single ladies seemed interested.

"What are you talking about?"

"Lost and found, she’s treated like a princess and already has all the youngest CEOs after her. We have been here for so long, and yet, nobody cares."

Joanna shook her head, not bothering to respond to bitter women. She believed that everyone’s destiny was different, but hard work also pays.

If not for the fact that she carried a high-risk pregnancy, she wouldn’t mind working until her eighth month, but now, she could only work from home.

"Grandpa, can you end the party? I want to go to the hospital to stay with Logan," Dion requested. Grandpa chuckled and gave her a glass of wine.

"Relax, the party is just beginning. Alex has a surprise for you."

Dion was not liking this. Having missed out on her youth so much, she was more interested in catching up on the most important things and not shallow parties.

"For everyone who thinks my kid brother has been disowned, you are wrong. Logan had an accident recently and is hospitalized."

Sorrow overrode the once merry atmosphere as Alex continued to speak. "Well, we couldn’t cancel this even when Dion requested us to do so, but we found a way for all the family to be together."

The media already got their cameras together, ready to report on whatever Alex was hinting.

They watched as Alex walked to the entrance, speaking into a cordless microphone.

He went out of the doorway and coming back, he was pushing someone on a wheelchair.

Logan was dressed in a black suit, looking stylish but also seated in a wheelchair.

Funny how life had turned. At first, it was Alex in the wheelchair, but his condition was fake, unlike that of Logan, which was rather real.

"Logan?" Dion hastened to her brother’s side, taking over from Alex. "I can take care of him," she said after lowering herself and embracing Logan in the wheelchair.

Alex was not surprised because Logan and Dion were always close, and Logan had no responsibilities by then and played with Dion a lot.

Alex, on the other hand, was always the protective one, watching over all of them, including their mother.

Agnes was saddened to see Logan in the wheelchair, but the worst part was seeing that Logan had reunited with the family because of his sister, Dion.

Yesterday when Logan requested to speak with Alex alone, he had requested a way to get to the party to surprise Dion and also pass on important information.

The solution-minded Alex quickly came up with a special wheelchair to support Logan’s condition since the latter could not move his limbs.

"I would like to first thank my grandfather for his patience, love, and discipline ever since our parents passed away," Logan began to speak.

The hall was filled with all the amazing luxuries, especially the huge chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.

The LED lights brightened the room, reflecting on the diamonds engrafted in some outfits as well as jewelry.

Even on a wheelchair, Logan looked elegant, an aura carried by the Kings. The wines served were the most expensive anyone could find.

"To be honest with you all, I made life hellish for my grandpa and my elder brother, Alex. The media already knows how I constantly fought against him, including trying to covet his wife."

"Logan," Alex wanted to stop him because he already forgave, but Logan shook his head. It was the only part of his body he could move as he spoke into the cordless microphone.

"Alex hasn’t only been a great elder brother but also took on the role of a father when we lost our parents. I never understood him before because I thought he wanted everything for himself."

The hall went silent, the atmosphere turning emotional as Dion began to piece a few things together.

"Last night when arranging to surprise my kid sister, Dion, for this welcome party, Alex was speaking to someone on the phone, thinking I was asleep, but I wasn’t, and that was when I heard that all along, he was just protecting everything for Dion."

"What?" Dion was confused, and knowing it was true, Logan dared him. "Correct me if I’m wrong, Alex."

"It’s true," Alex said as the company lawyer arrived with some documents and began to explain. "Mr. Alexander King saved fifty percent of the King’s multinational worth one hundred billion, two villas, five cars, and five billion in liquid cash for you, Miss Dion King."

Dion froze, and the shame covering the faces of the extended family who sabotaged Alex all this while was priceless. freёweɓnovel.com

Dion stared at the documents with tears in her eyes as she hastened and embraced Alex. "Thank you, but I don’t need them."

"What are you talking about? These are the gifts prepared for you."

"No. Let them remain in your name because I know they would increase with it being there."

Alex was glad for her smartness but decided to warn her. "I’m going to have my children, and my wife’s company is in billions. I still have other businesses aside from the King assets, so these are yours."

Dion still shook her head. "Then please keep them for me." She leaned over and whispered in his ears. "If one day I choose to get married, don’t you think men would want me for my money? With this, I would never find true love."

Alex nodded in agreement as he informed the lawyer. "She doesn’t want them and has agreed to start working from scratch. That way, she would learn to make her own money and not depend on our inheritance."

He intended to keep them for her until she got married. "There is something else," Grandpa asserted, gaining the attention of all and sundry. "I’m signing off the chairmanship to my first grandson, Alexander King. From today, his decisions become law, and I know he would give the best."

Everyone applauded as Dion sighed with relief. Alex agreed that his sister was very smart because he already saw the disappointment in the gazes of the two CEOs who claimed to want to woo his sister.

The documents were signed, and there were so many family pictures as Alex embraced Logan, who never stopped apologizing. The party extended until late at night, and just as Grandpa was about to order the vote of thanks, Aiden had something important to say.
