Chapter 195: What the fu—

"Thanks." Quizen mumbled, hugging the guitar case tightly to his chest.

Coco leads Quizen back to the inn since she has no other place in mind where she could take Quizen for breakfast.

Well, she could bring him to Yolo Village right now, but she thinks that it would be unfair for the other husbands— they deserve to go with her at the same time so no one would feel left out.

Coco hummed and nodded her head. "I’m glad that you liked it."

"Yeah.. I thought you were buying it for someone else." Quizen said, his eyes cast downwards and staring at the ground as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.

Coco blinked, not expecting for the mediator to look guilty for assuming things.

I mean, I did tell him that I was going to buy it for someone as amazing as him. Coco thought to herself, scratching the back of her head and staring ahead.

He was just too caught up with whatever he had in mind to get what I meant. She added to her previous thought, putting her hand down and letting a sigh through her nose, recalling the way how defensive he got last night.

"I don’t know anyone else who plays the guitar as amazing as you, Quizen." Coco said, her voice dripping with sincerity which made the mediator snap his attention to her.

Okay, I may have sounded exaggerating with that one. I didn’t even hear him play and sing properly because I was busy with Mr. Tani and with my food. Coco mused in her mind, feeling her palms become sweaty.

But I do think that he has a nice voice and obviously, he could play the guitar because how else would he be able to work at the pub if he can’t? Coco wanted to punch herself for thinking otherwise.

She feels like she can be dumb sometimes. freewebnoveℓ.com

".. Thanks." Once again, the mediator expressed his gratitude with a meek voice.

His cheeks are flushed with color and his heart racing at the words his wife had uttered to him.

She’s not the Coco I married anymore, right? He thought, his blue eyes twinkling with wonder as he shot a discreet glance in Coco’s direction.

The memory of Zaque telling him that someone else had taken over their wife’s body crossed his mind.

He found the idea of someone else possessing Coco Hughes’ body and walking around the village as if she didn’t abuse them ridiculous.

However, ever since she got back from wherever she was after beating Alhai, she had removed herself completely from the house and from the mediators’ daily lives— only sending food daily and giving them money weekly.

He rarely sees her around the village anymore.

If he was lucky, he would have caught a glimpse of her somewhere in the pub, talking to the owner or to the front desk woman or enjoying her dinner.

Thinking about it, he didn’t see her anywhere else.

Her routine seems to revolve around going out of the village early in the morning and coming back to the inn to have dinner— though, there were some nights when he didn’t see her in the pub.

Even if she wasn’t there, she could have eaten dinner somewhere else, right?

Their wife, eating someone else’s cooking..

Quizen frowned, his eyebrows furrowing deeply and the corner of his lips curling down into a scowl.

The thought of it somehow left a bitter taste in his tongue.

"Heiren!"

Before he could dwell on it though, Coco’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

Coco brightened up slightly when she saw the familiar brown haired mediator in the distance, carrying a basket on his right arm and was heading towards the village’s market.

"Hurry, Quizen." Coco ushered the fourth husband and jogged their way towards the other mediator.

Quizen didn’t mind seeing the second husband on their way to the inn. In fact, he felt ecstatic to see him walking towards the market and carrying a basket.

"Are you on your way to buy something to eat for breakfast?" Quizen asked Heiren as soon as they reached him, his eyes wide in delight and sending signals to the brown haired mediator.

"What does it look like?" Heiren, obviously oblivious, sassed and raised an eyebrow.

"You’re going to the market?" Coco inquired with a small smile, "Mind if I tag along? I’ll pay for everything you’re going to buy."

Heiren scoffed and turned his head away. "Do I even have a choice? You’ll go with me either way."

Coco hummed and shifted in her feet, shaking her head. "No, not really. If you don’t want to be anywhere near me, I could just give you the money to use for the ingredients you need for breakfast— if not, I could just ask someone else to deliver it to the house."

"You—"

"You can come!" Quizen was quick to cut Heiren off and pushed his palm on the other mediator’s mouth, "We can come with you, right?"

Quizen forced his face close to Heiren’s and narrowed his eyes, silently telling him to cooperate.

All Heiren could do is nod his head, his eyes wide in fear.

What is wrong with him?! Heiren screamed in his mind, shivering ever so slightly as Quizen pulled his hand away.

"Are you sure..?" Coco mumbled with eyebrows furrowed, "Heiren doesn’t look—"

"You can come! Didn’t I tell you that already?" Heiren snapped, hissing the words out as he glared daggers at Coco.

"Woah, chil—"

Ding!

Coco couldn’t finish what she was saying because of the scroll appearing in front of her eyes, blocking her view of the two husbands.

[Conditions of activating Heiren’s Quest {1} met...]

[Activating Heiren’s Quest {1} now, please wait a moment...]

What? Coco stared at the scroll in surprise, reading the written text on it over and over again.

She wasn’t expecting to get his quest so soon, not when she had just finished Quizen’s quest a while ago.
