Necromancer Of The Shadows-Chapter 1334: Annihilation! (Part 1)
"What kind of horrible creature is this?" Gustav despaired as none of his attacks worked against the creature Evan had summoned.
As soon as his attacks reached near the creature, they would disappear into thin air even before touching its gorilla like body—as if swallowed by a black hole.
Evan watched everything unfold with a thoughtful look on his face. After observing the fight between the creature and Gustav for a few minutes, he reached the conclusion that only peak Rank Five and above Core Evolvers could harm the creature he had summoned.
'The power of Nothingness that shrouds the creature is very thin, but because of the nature of Nothingness—erasing everything from existence the moment it comes into contact—it is almost impossible to do anything against it unless one possesses overwhelming power that can break through the power of Nothingness.' He thought with narrowed eyes.
Of course, using this kind of power was not easy.
The creature had been summoned by Evan, and just summoning it had cost him almost 15,000 points of World Essence.
Not only that—after its summoning, to maintain its existence in the material plane, he was losing around 500 points of World Essence every second. On top of that, every time the creature attacked, it cost him additional World Essence.
If it were any other Rank Four Core Evolver, they wouldn't have been able to maintain the creature's existence in the material plane for even a single minute.
But Evan was able to do so for such a long time because of the Rune of Absorption.
The moment he summoned the creature, he had activated the Rune of Absorption engraved on his core to replenish his World Essence.
Even though he couldn't recover all the World Essence he was losing, it was still enough for him to maintain the creature's presence for more than half an hour.
"But..." Evan suddenly took a step forward and appeared right above the creature.
"Your time is up," He said while looking down at it. "Go back."
The creature stopped attacking Gustav and raised its withered, old woman's face to look at Evan.
Its eyes, hidden under rough white hair flowing from its head, gleamed with ominous red light, and the desire to devour its summoner overflowed from them.
Evan's expression didn't change despite the terrifying gaze and he simply stopped supplying the World Essence that maintained the creature's existence in the material plane.
ROAR!
The moment Evan stopped the flow of World Essence, the creature let out a roar like an enraged beast and lunged toward him—wanting to devour him.
As the creature's giant face loomed larger in his view, Evan calmly raised his hand. With the overwhelming power of destruction flowing through it, the Halberd of Destruction materialized in his grasp.
With a simple swing of the halberd, he destroyed the layer of Nothingness—which had weakened due to the halted World Essence supply.
The Halberd of Destruction grew in size as it approached the creature and struck the side of its face.
ROAR!
A painful howl escaped the creature's mouth as it was blasted away, half of its face destroyed by the power of destruction.
The creature smashed against the wall of the Shadow World and slid down like a wet cloth, its eyes—no longer on Evan, but fixed on the Halberd of Destruction—filled with deep fear.
The laws of reality finally began to assert themselves, and a giant rift appeared before the creature.
Evan narrowed his eyes as he saw the rift and felt the familiar power of Nothingness emanating from within.
ROAR!
The creature roared upon seeing the rift and tried to flee. However—
Swish! Swish! Swish – – – – –
Tens of black-colored chains shot out from the rift and wrapped around the creature, dragging it back to the place from which it had been summoned.
The creature struggled to break free from the chains, but its efforts were futile and it could do nothing.
Evan watched as the rift slowly vanished and shook his head.
'What a troublesome skill.'
Gustav watched everything unfold from the sidelines with a baffled expression, unable to comphrend what had just happened.
From Evan's sudden appearance to the death of all high-ranking Core Evolvers, everything had happened so quickly that his mind couldn't process any of it.
'And what was that creature...? Wasn't it something he summoned himself? Then why did it suddenly attack him?'
Gustav had many questions in his mind, but he knew this wasn't the time to think about them.
'It's good that nasty creature disappeared. Now I have a good chance to escape.'
"You must be thinking that you are safe now, right?"
The sudden voice of Evan snapped Gustav out of his thoughts, and as he turned his head, he saw the bald monk walking toward him while holding the Halberd of Destruction.
"Sorry to break it to you, but..."
The fifty thousand shadow undeads that filled the Shadow World began to surround Gustav.
"You might have had a chance of escaping alive if you were fighting against that guy. But now that I am the one taking care of things, you have no chance of getting out alive."
Gustav's expression darkened when he heard Evan's words and looking at the thousands of shadow undead surrounding him, despair began to grow in his heart.
'No... I can't die here. I am the king of this country and one of the few Rank Five Core Evolvers in this world...'
"There is no way I will die here—and definitely not at the hands of a bastard who just became a Rank Four Core Evolver!"
Gustav roared and suddenly charged at Evan.
"You are right..." Evan muttered as his aura began to rise.
"I am still weaker than you, and my rank is very low... but—"
