Chapter 224 - 224

The battle extended beyond the Land of Whirlpools. All nations faced assaults from countless White Zetsu and those resurrected through the Impure World Reincarnation (Edo Tensei). Unprepared countries were caught off guard, having dismissed Uchiha Madara's declaration of war as mere bravado.

By the time they sought to form alliances, it was too late. The White Zetsu were eliminated swiftly by Zixu and his allies, leaving little opportunity for others to engage. This led some to question whether these Zetsu differed from their previous iterations. However, they found reassurance among ordinary ninjas.

"Who are these beings? They perfectly mimic our comrades, even replicating their chakra!" a bewildered ninja exclaimed, having just witnessed a trusted companion transform into a White Zetsu and attack another teammate.

This infiltration rendered collective combat strategies ineffective. The inability to distinguish friend from foe sowed chaos, as attacking one's own was a constant risk.

More alarming was the resilience of these entities. They seemed impervious to pain, continuing to move even when dismembered, placing immense pressure on the ninjas.

"These creatures can read minds and blend seamlessly into groups. Sometimes, even the hosts are unaware they've been replaced... Wait, how do I know this?" a ninja pondered, fear overtaking him. His face began to melt like wax, revealing the black and white stripes of a White Zetsu beneath.

Despite their stealth, White Zetsu were not the most formidable adversaries. Their strength lay in numbers, not individual combat prowess. The true challenge came from those resurrected through Edo Tensei.

Kabuto Yakushi, ever cunning, summoned the spirits of fallen comrades. Some ninjas had even attended these individuals' funerals, making their reappearance all the more jarring.

Zixu, had he been present, would have been elated. These resurrected souls were like inexhaustible energy sources—clean and efficient. Any consumption affected only those who interacted with them, while Zixu remained an unaffected overseer.

"Senior! I never thought I'd see you again..."

"I'm sorry I passed so soon. Our child must be quite handsome by now. Hahaha, surely he inherited his father's good looks..."

"Old man, care to explain why you're holding my wife's hand?"

The battlefield buzzed with such conversations, momentarily forgetting the ongoing conflict. Kabuto didn't bother controlling their minds; these were mere pawns, unworthy of his attention.

Thus, the resurrected individuals, retaining their consciousness, engaged in combat while reminiscing and jesting. It resembled friendly sparring more than actual warfare.

Except for the man intent on attacking the old man, whose Mediterranean hairstyle and middle-aged appearance seemed to provoke genuine animosity. Each strike was accompanied by shouts of "I want you to die!"

Amidst these interactions, a massive coffin emerged at the center of the battlefield. Unlike the others, its mere presence exuded a formidable aura.

From it stepped a tall, bandaged man, only his eyes visible. Surveying his surroundings, he finally looked at his hands, a realization dawning upon him.

"Edo Tensei? This must be the Second Hokage's doing. That guy always had a penchant for such techniques... Is he hiding now? Typical."

He found himself in Iwagakure.

"Hey! Look over there... Isn't that the Second Tsuchikage?" someone pointed out, trembling.

"Indeed! It's Lord Mu! I can't believe even Lord Tsuchikage has been resurrected..." Morale in Iwagakure plummeted, but Tsuchikage Ohnoki arrived just in time.

"Everyone, war has begun, and none can escape it. Even if it's Lord Mu, we must confront him..." Ohnoki declared. He held deep respect for Mu, his mentor who had guided him to his current position. Memories of their diplomatic mission to Konoha and encounter with Uchiha Madara still lingered.

Mu had risen through sheer talent, akin to the Fourth Hokage. He pioneered numerous jutsu and adapted the Second Hokage's ninja system for his village, leading to significant advancements.

Tragically, he and the Second Mizukage perished together.

At this moment, three more coffins appeared around Mu, each emanating an aura equal to his.

With a resounding "Bang, bang, bang!" they burst open, revealing three imposing figures:

The Third Raikage, A, with long yellow hair, dark skin, and a lightning-shaped scar on his chest.

The Second Mizukage, Hōzuki Gengetsu, sporting a mustache and crew cut.

The Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, characterized by short red hair, dark circles under his eyes, and a perpetually stern expression.

Combined with the bandaged Second Tsuchikage Mu, this assembly of Kage resurrected through Edo Tensei posed an overwhelming threat to Iwagakure. Facing immortal Kage was a daunting prospect.

Rasa examined his form, memories still anchored in the past. He believed Orochimaru had summoned him and was the youngest among the group.

Hōzuki Gengetsu and Mu immediately clashed upon meeting, their animosity evident. Controlled by Kabuto, they could only engage in a restrained manner.

The Third Raikage, feeling the constraints of control, was visibly agitated. Known for his fortitude, submission was not in his nature.

"Enough of this infighting. We need to identify the mastermind behind this and eliminate him," he asserted, characteristic of the Raikage's directness.

The surrounding Kage nodded in agreement, but stronger restraints bound them, causing involuntary movements. Though they had no desire to attack the weaker ninjas nearby, Kabuto, upon sensing their resistance, intensified his control.
