Chapter 217 - 217: Extracting the Four-Tails

The golden staff smashed into Rōshi's massive frame.

A tremendous force surged through his body, his legs buckling under the weight of the attack. Unable to withstand it, he dropped to his knees.

Jiraiya wasted no time. Controlling the Guardian Deity, he raised the golden staff once more and brought it down with another devastating blow. A thunderous crash echoed across the battlefield as Rōshi collapsed entirely, his body sprawled across the ground.

A roar of agony tore from his throat, reverberating through the war-torn landscape.

"Damn it! What the hell is that jutsu?! Even Rōshi-sama can't fight back!"

"Rōshi-sama is a perfect Jinchūriki! He can fully harness the power of the Four-Tails! But even with all that strength, he still can't stand against Jiraiya?!"

"This is insane..."

The elite jōnin from the Land of Earth felt a chill crawl up their spines as they watched Rōshi get pummeled into the dirt. Their expectations had been completely shattered.

Before the battle, they had believed that even if Rōshi couldn't defeat Jiraiya, he would at least be able to hold his own. They had thought it would be an even fight.

But reality was far crueler than their imagination.

Now, a far grimmer thought crept into their minds—there was a real chance they wouldn't make it back to Iwagakure alive.

...

"You damn Sunagakure shinobi! Even with the Land of Earth backing you, you still don't stand a chance against us! Today, you and your Kazekage will die here!"

"Those foolish Suna ninja... Do they really think siding with Iwa gives them any hope of standing against Konoha? Laughable!"

The morale among the Konoha shinobi surged.

If even a perfect Jinchūriki was powerless before Jiraiya, then this battle was already decided. There was no pressure, no uncertainty—only victory.

The Sunagakure forces, however, were growing increasingly uneasy.

Their Kazekage was locked in a fierce battle with the Hokage, and to make matters worse, he was on the losing end.

At the same time, the "reinforcements" from the Land of Earth—their supposed trump card—were getting crushed by Konoha's forces.

Any hope of victory was slipping away. Morale was plummeting, and many of them were just waiting for their commander to give the order to retreat. The moment that happened, they'd be gone.

But compared to them, the elite jōnin from the Land of Earth were even more desperate.

Rōshi wasn't just any shinobi—he was the Land of Earth's perfect Jinchūriki, one of their greatest military assets.

If he lost, if the Four-Tails was extracted, the damage to their nation would be devastating. A loss they could not afford.

Regret began to fester in their hearts.

Maybe the Tsuchikage shouldn't have agreed to help Sunagakure in the first place.

And none of them had expected Jiraiya to be this overwhelmingly strong.

...

"Your body may be formed from chakra, but even chakra has its limits," Jiraiya said, staring down at the battered Rōshi. "If you surrender now, I'll spare your life."

As a perfect Jinchūriki, Rōshi could be a valuable asset. If he agreed to join him, Jiraiya was willing to let him live.

"You damn brat! Keep dreaming!" Rōshi roared, seething with fury.

The mere thought of surrender was an insult.

Jiraiya's attacks had left him in agony, but they hadn't caused any severe damage.

After all, a Jinchūriki wasn't made of flesh and blood like an ordinary shinobi. Their bodies were chakra constructs—no matter how much damage they sustained, as long as they had enough chakra, they could heal.

"Lava Release: Great Flame Eruption!"

Rōshi retaliated, summoning a surge of volcanic eruptions. Jagged formations of molten rock burst from the ground, spewing lava toward Jiraiya in a relentless wave.

The Guardian Deity remained unmoved, extending its celestial umbrella. No matter how violently the lava surged, it couldn't break through its defenses.

"...Let me take over," a deep voice echoed within Rōshi's mind.

"You can't win this fight. If this drags on, we'll both be in real danger."

It was the voice of the Four-Tails—Son Gokū.

Rōshi clenched his fists, frustration boiling inside him. But in the end, he could only grit his teeth and nod.

He relinquished control.

Jiraiya immediately felt the shift.

The pressure in the air thickened.

Son Gokū had fully taken over.

"You're about to learn," the beast growled, planting its massive hands into the ground. "The true terror of a Tailed Beast!"

With a thunderous leap, the colossal creature lunged at Jiraiya, swinging a devastating kick.

Jiraiya merely scoffed.

"Even the Nine-Tails doesn't have the right to say that to me," he said casually, forming a rapid sequence of hand seals.

A brilliant flash of light erupted from his palms.

Before Son Gokū's attack could land, a blinding energy beam struck him head-on.

The impact sent the massive beast hurtling through the air, its enormous body crashing into the distant terrain like a meteor.

Now that the Four-Tails had taken full control, the opportunity had arrived.

Golden chains burst into existence behind Jiraiya, surging toward Son Gokū like a tidal wave.

"Move!" Rōshi's voice rang out in warning. "That's the Adamantine Sealing Chains! They're extremely effective against Tailed Beasts!"

Having dealt with two Tailed Beasts in the past, the Land of Earth had studied sealing techniques extensively. The moment he saw those golden chains, Rōshi knew exactly what they were.

Son Gokū's eyes flashed with alarm.

He immediately unleashed a Tailed Beast Bomb, aiming to obliterate the incoming chains before they could reach him.

But Jiraiya was already a step ahead.

The Guardian Deity swung its golden staff once more, deflecting the Tailed Beast Bomb far into the distance. A deafening explosion shook the earth, accompanied by a brilliant explosion of light.

It was too late.

The golden chains wrapped tightly around Son Gokū, binding him in place.

The more he struggled, the tighter they became.

Strange symbols began to glow along the chains, spreading across the beast's massive form.

His chakra was being sealed away.

"Damn it... My chakra... It's being suppressed..." Son Gokū gritted his teeth.

Rōshi fell silent.

He wasn't worried about himself.

Tailed Beasts didn't die.

But Rōshi?

He wouldn't survive.

Jiraiya had him completely under control now.

With a flick of his wrist, Jiraiya summoned a pitch-black stake and hurled it straight into Son Gokū's forehead.

The moment it pierced his body, the symbols covering him shone even brighter.

The extraction had begun.

And this time—there was nothing the Four-Tails could do to stop it.
