Chapter 422: Chapter 194: Having nothing to repay you with, I’ll see you on your way_2
"I don’t want to say much about the alliance with Hell, everything follows the Divine Decree of the Goddess. I advise you not to ask more, it’s not for you to know."
Although the Headless Knight had no head, he had a sharp mind, and with just a few words, he cleared himself of any suspicion.
Guy stood still on the spot, sweat pouring down his forehead, with the ultimate power of explanation in the hands of the two knights, talking about Divine Decree here and there, without any contact with the Goddess, how could he know who was true and who was false?
To him, it was nothing more than a choice of sides, with the two knights pressuring him to take an immediate stance.
Guy, who had yet to make a move, giggled dryly without saying a word. Seeing this, the Headless Knight grew furious and rushed into the gas cloud as a gray mist.
For a moment, the essence of Death reigned supreme, screams ceasing to end.
Wayne stood with his arms folded, watching quietly.
He bore no grudge against Guy, and without knowing the other’s character, he wouldn’t strike down mercilessly. At first, he had intended to let the five go and conveniently pin the blame for the Sealing Book on the Death Knight.
However, these fellows had seen his face, and so, there was nothing he could do.
As the Death Essence dissipated, the five mages of the Death Church transformed into Skeleton Soldiers, standing where they were, their thoughts erased by the Headless Knight, their bodies now a host for the knight.
With nothing left to say, they were the first to perish!
Wayne looked closely and saw that the four minions were merely enhanced Skeleton Soldiers, while it was Guy who really hosted the thoughts of the Headless Knight.
Clad in tattered Gray Robes, with a White Bone Greatsword in one hand and a fist-sized Ruby in the other, his eyes flashed with white light. His jaws wide open, he let out a cackling laugh.
"Such a trivial matter. If he retained the power of the Golden Mage, I might have feared him a little, but now he’s nothing, what can you do to me?"
Wayne curled his lip, noting amongst many lesser gazes that standing out was Death’s Cavalier, whose status was so high he could suppress Doreen, the Golden Mage of the Moonlight Church.
Had it been Guy, with matching faith, Wayne was confident that standing still, the other couldn’t touch him.
The opponent was already at a disadvantage and, after being stripped of his thoughts by the Headless Knight, he stood even less of a chance.
Wayne didn’t understand—the Headless Knight seemed to be an expert at infighting, striking fast and hard against his own.
"You’ve celebrated too soon!"
’Guy’ cackled and lunged at Wayne with the White Bone Greatsword.
The blade split the sea, showing not the slightest bit of sharpness, without a whirlpool or sword wind stirring, erasing all vitality in its path, leaving absolute tranquility.
Impressive!
Narrowing his eyes, Wayne drew out the Crystalline Blood Sword, with the currents behind him stirring, accelerating his pace as he met the White Bone Greatsword with a dance of his own sword.
A crisp snap.
The Blood Crystal Longsword in Wayne’s hand shattered, and the White Bone Greatsword continued its trajectory, slicing straight towards his neck. freёwebnoѵel.com
Wayne was far from panicked. He possessed an Immortal Body; even if his head fell, he wouldn’t panic. With Magic Power erupting, his long-charged punch blasted down, aimed at Guy’s breastbone.
As the fist landed, the sword reached its mark.
A ripple of crimson spread through the deep ocean.
Wayne, clutching at his bleeding neck, looked astonished, unable to believe that his Immortal Body had been compromised.
Across from him, Guy was flipped over by the heavy punch, spiraling through the water, his skeleton, strengthened by the Headless Knight, so tough that even Wayne’s full-powered hit caused not even a slight fracture.
"Cackling—"
Guy continued laughing strangely. A wisp of Death Essence swirled around the blade of the White Bone Greatsword, taken from Wayne and absorbed into the Ruby as it flickered.
Death Essence could be taken away?
Wayne stared blankly at this scene, the white foam on his neck writhing as the sword wound seamlessly healed.
The next second, greed exploded in his eyes, and he suddenly remembered that this artifact was fated to be his, undoubtedly a treasure he had lost.
He wasn’t speaking nonsense. The configuration of the White Bone Greatsword plus the Ruby was the budget version of Shadowmare. Owning Shadowmare equated to having the right to reclaim imitation products, rounded to the nearest whole.
Hand it over!
Wayne’s chest heaved, as he semi-released the Heaven Holy Spear in his grasp, and a white light opened a gap in the sea, with waves madly swirling around, creating a vacuum zone.
Seizing the vacuum’s pull to accelerate, Wayne turned into a white streak, and like a meteor piercing the dark night, he appeared instantly before Guy.
The spearhead, unstoppable, pierced through Guy’s skeletal chest.
Holy Flame erupted!
Boom!
The calm sea surface raised a huge wave, with the undertow surging and thunderously rolling in all directions.
Beneath the deep sea, where Death Essence collided with Holy Flame, two figures grappled together.
Mud and stones rose en masse, cloaking an area in a Dark Domain, while four elite Skeleton Soldiers, entwined in Holy Flame, had their essence of Death burnt out, their ashes dispersing into the ocean.
Wayne wielded his spear, suppressing Guy with the advantage of speed and strength, getting his first taste of the Headless Knight’s swordsmanship.
It was different from the Valkyrie’s Dragon-Slayer Sword Technique, requiring a horse to reach full potency. Without a horse, the power fell short, making it not particularly noteworthy.
Wayne wasn’t in any hurry to burn Guy to death, instead took the opportunity to learn a few moves clandestinely.
Guy cackled, "The power of Heaven, you accuse me of betraying the Goddess and turning towards the Devil, but what about you? Haven’t you also turned to the Angels?"
Indeed!
Two generations of Death Knights, one bound by the Devil Alliance, the other turned into a Reincarnated Angel, none remained devoted to the Goddess of Death.
Anyone else would be jumping with anger at this point, desperately trying to prove that they weren’t a betrayer.
Not Wayne. Never having had a creed to speak of, the Liberty Mage saw faith as a business, he saw it as fast food, taking the Headless Knight’s taunt as a compliment with a laugh.
Yes, my approach is indeed that wild!
