Chapter 92: level 56?!

There’s a saying: "It’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back." Maybe your strength is just enough to take down exactly ten Tier-10 Inferno Pit Lords out of an army of a hundred.

But if you add even one more target to that number, it could trigger a complete collapse!

Let alone two, three, or even doubling the number of targets. You don’t even need to think about it—you’re definitely screwed!

But Ethan didn’t really care about that. It wasn’t a big deal to him.

What he did care about, however, was...

"A Tier-10 Inferno faction unit hero—Balzareth!"

"A hero unit of the Tier-10 Inferno Pit Lords, huh? Wonder what rank he is—Epic purple, or Legendary orange?" Ethan’s eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of seriousness flickering within.

Honestly speaking, if it were just regular Inferno units, even doubling, tripling, or multiplying their numbers by five wouldn’t faze him at all.

He wouldn’t even need to personally oversee the battle.

But the moment a hero unit entered the picture, all that confidence and ease turned into pressure, making him feel uneasy.

In large-scale battles, the scariest thing about hero units was their devastating area-of-effect spells and their massive buffs to the entire army’s attributes!

Take Ethan himself as an example: at level 29, his impressive 29-point boost to attack and defense stats could allow any unit below Tier-7 or Tier-8 Elite Units to fight above their tier!

And if you looked at Seraphina’s current stats, it was even more terrifying.

Under Seraphina’s command, even her Tier-9 units could dominate wild Tier-10 units!

And her Tier-10 units? They could probably go toe-to-toe with Tier-11 Royal Units!

This was exactly why every player in the world of "Glory Lords X" desperately wanted high-tier, powerful hero units.

Heroes were just way too important!

Without a hero leading them, Infernal Legions were nothing more than scattered mobs in Ethan’s eyes.

But put a hero like Balzareth in charge, and suddenly those scattered mobs transformed into a disciplined, iron-hard legion!

As for exactly how tough this "iron legion" would be?

He’d have to see this Tier-10 Inferno Pit Lord hero—Balzareth—in action to know for sure.

"Master, the Emerald Castle army has finished assembling!" Elynn approached Ethan respectfully, interrupting his thoughts.

At the same time, the detailed troop information of the Emerald Castle army appeared before Ethan’s eyes:

Tier-13 Hero Units: 2 (Seraphina, Cicero)

Tier-11 Hero Unit: Unicorn (Elyra) x1

Tier-10 Special Hidden Hero Unit: Elven Pegasus Knight (Elynn) x1

Tier-12 Wyvern Monarch x2

Tier-12 Cyclops King x1

Tier-11 Unicorn x4

Tier-10 Elven Pegasus Knight x5

Tier-10 Thunderbird x3...

Although the individual numbers of each unit weren’t particularly large, their tiers and levels were impressively high!

Aside from special units like the Tier-6 Vestals, Tier-9 Moon Does, and Tier-10 Sun Deers, Ethan decided to only bring units of Tier-10 and above this time. He was going for quality over quantity.

Among these units, there was also a brand-new face making its debut:

Seraphina’s hidden special Tier-10 unit—Elven Pegasus Knight!

[Elven Pegasus Knight]

Hidden Special Unit!

Flying Unit!

Tier: 10

HP: 2500

Attack: 65

Defense: 55

Innate Skills: Storm Cleave, Elven Barrier

Storm Cleave: Harnesses the power of nature’s storms to unleash a devastating strike! This attack ignores 30% of enemy defense but consumes a large amount of stamina. Ineffective against units Tier-11 and above.

Elven Barrier: Three Elven Pegasus Knights can join forces to create a powerful barrier, trapping enemies and stunning them. Effective against units of Tier-11 and below.

The duration of Elven Barrier depends on the Elven Pegasus Knights’ condition, stamina, and the enemy’s tier and strength.

"A barrier that can stun even Tier-11 units, huh?" Ethan couldn’t help but marvel at the Elven Pegasus Knights’ stats and skills. "Now that’s what I call a hidden special Tier-10 unit!"

They were seriously impressive!

First off, among all the regular Tier-10 units he’d seen, the Elven Pegasus Knight’s base stats were second only to the Minotaur King, known as the strongest melee unit at Tier-10.

Secondly, both of their innate skills were incredibly useful—no filler skills here!

Storm Cleave was basically an upgraded version of a critical strike, while Elven Barrier provided incredible crowd-control, support, and combo potential. Imagine the Elven Pegasus Knights stunning a Tier-11 enemy, leaving it helpless while the rest of the army piled on damage without any risk. It was practically cheating!

"Elynn, today’s the first real battle for your Elven Pegasus Knights. Show me what you’ve got!" Ethan smiled encouragingly at Elynn.

Elynn immediately straightened up, her expression turning serious. "We won’t let you down, my lord! The Elven Pegasus Knights are ready to fight to the death!"

"We won’t let you down, my lord! The Elven Pegasus Knights are ready to fight to the death!" echoed the five knights behind Elynn, their faces determined and confident.

"Alright then, let’s move out!" Ethan commanded.

"Yes, my lord!" Elynn nodded sharply, turning around and drawing her sword in one swift motion. "Emerald Castle army—move out!"

"ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!"

"Move out! Move out! Move out!"

With a chorus of fierce battle cries from the diverse troops, the Emerald Castle army marched forward, heading straight toward the Doom Mountains.

Meanwhile, Seraphina, Cicero, and Elyra had already arrived at the battlefield ahead of them, standing firm against the endless waves of Infernal Legions pouring out from the Hell Gate.

"Master!"

"Squeak squeak..."

"Gurgle..."

As soon as Ethan and the Emerald Castle army reached the Doom Mountains and approached the Hell Gate, Seraphina, Cicero, and Elyra quickly rushed over, greeting Ethan respectfully.

"What’s the situation?" Ethan asked.

"The spatial fluctuations haven’t stopped yet. Inferno troops keep pouring out nonstop," Seraphina replied calmly.

"Then let’s wait a bit longer," Ethan said, glancing casually at the vast army of Infernal Legions covering the scorched, sulfurous landscape.

Boom!

Suddenly, a terrifying surge of energy erupted from within the Hell Gate.

Rumble!

Blazing Inferno Flames burst forth from the gate, accompanied by a savage, blood-curdling roar echoing from within.

"You pathetic insects dare oppose my Infernal Legions? The mighty Balzareth will rip your souls apart and savor every bite!"

As the voice faded, a massive, blood-red demon emerged into Ethan’s view. Towering thousands of feet tall, with two massive horns atop his head, he was engulfed in raging Inferno Flames. In his hand, he wielded a massive black thorned whip, radiating an aura of pure brutality and evil.

The sight alone was enough to send chills down anyone’s spine.

At the same time, the demon’s information appeared clearly before Ethan’s eyes:

[Balzareth]

One of the Infernal Lords!

Servant of Baelthar, Demon King of the Sixth Infernal Layer.

Level: 56

Tier: Purple Epic Hero

Hero Class: Inferno Flames Awakener

Strength: 131

Knowledge: 55

HP: 5500

Damage: 5571

Magic Damage: 210240

Hero Skills: Wisdom, Offense, Fire Magic Mastery...

Hero Talents:

Demonic Rebirth (Can resurrect all fallen allied units as Tier 7 One-Horned Demons without limit. Cooldown: 30 minutes.)

Infernal Warlord (Boosts base Attack, Defense, and HP of Tier 7 One-Horned Demons, Tier 8 Two-Horned Demon Kings, Tier 9 Inferno Pit Fiends, and Tier 10 Inferno Pit Lords. Initial bonus: 3%, increases with hero level up to a maximum of 33%. Current bonus: 27%.)

Inferno Flames (Unleashes devastating Inferno Flames magic over a wide area, dealing massive damage enhanced by Strength and Knowledge attributes.)

Overall Rating: SSS-Class Purple Epic Hero!

"A mage-type hero, huh?"

"And level 56 at that..." Ethan muttered, frowning deeply.

Mage heroes were absolute nightmares in large-scale battles—especially those god-tier mages at high levels. One powerful area-of-effect spell could easily wipe out half your army, leaving you with losses so heavy you’d practically cry tears of blood.

And worse yet...

This Inferno Pit Lord hero, Balzareth, was actually level 56!

Level 56—just thinking about it made Ethan uneasy.

What did that even mean?

A level 56 purple Epic hero would have accumulated a staggering 112 attribute points from leveling alone—an absolutely terrifying number!

Not to mention, high-level heroes always had hidden bonuses and invisible buffs that didn’t even show up clearly in the system stats. That was the real headache here.

The only silver lining was that, as a mage-type hero, Balzareth’s Attack and Defense stats weren’t particularly high, meaning the boosts he provided to his troops’ combat stats would be relatively limited.

After all, in the world of "Glory Lords X," Spell Power and Knowledge attributes didn’t directly enhance most troops’ combat stats. That was one of the major drawbacks of mage-type heroes.

Still, even knowing all this, Ethan couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous facing such a high-level enemy hero for the first time.

"This fight’s gonna be tricky..." Ethan murmured quietly.

He turned his gaze toward Seraphina, speaking decisively, "Seraphina, you’ll take command of all our troops. But for the specific battle strategy, we’ll follow Elynn’s lead!"

At this moment, Seraphina’s true value as a Mythic-level Combat Hero shone brilliantly.

[Seraphina Drahmoulis]

Free Hero Form: Free heroes can independently command troops in battle. They benefit from Strategic Artifact attribute bonuses but do not receive the lord’s full attribute boosts.

Gender: Female

Level: 17

Race: Green Dragon

Tier: Crimson Ultimate

Hero Class: Green Dragon Deity

Attack: 181 (231)

Defense: 155

...

As a classic "God of War" type hero, Seraphina’s Attack and Defense stats were nothing short of luxurious—outrageously powerful, even. And as a Free Hero, all these incredible stats could directly boost the combat capabilities of the troops under her command.

Over two hundred points of Attack and Defense bonuses—just imagining it was enough to make Ethan’s heart race and his scalp tingle.

This was precisely the greatest advantage of warrior-type heroes: massive, army-wide boosts to Attack and Defense stats, making them absolute beasts in close combat!
