Chapter 89: Quest timer has begun

Boom! Boom! BOOM!

Rumble... rumble... rumble...

At that moment, Ethan and the others watched from afar, seeing what looked like a massive net woven from lightning and holy light descending from the heavens.

Wherever it touched, terrifying magical energy surged outward like a raging tsunami, spreading relentlessly!

In the end, it even triggered changes in the natural weather itself.

"ROAR! ROAR! ROARRR!"

"Rooaaar..."

At the same time, the Three-Headed Hellhounds scattered across the Doom Mountains began roaring instinctively, trembling uncontrollably.

They weren’t afraid of Seraphina herself, but the power of Light magic was the natural nemesis of Inferno-aligned creatures!

It even imposed a direct suppression on their attributes!

This suppression alone was enough to make them shiver involuntarily, sensing a deep, primal danger.

CRASH!

At that instant, the power of Elyra’s innate skill, Divine Storm, crashed down onto the earth, exploding right in the center of the Tier 6 Three-Headed Hellhounds!

Immediately, a dazzling burst of blinding white light erupted, forcing everyone to shield their eyes from the intense glare.

Simultaneously, a deafening thunderclap echoed outward, crackling violently in every direction, instantly engulfing all the Tier 6 Three-Headed Hellhounds nearby!

"ROARRR!"

"ARRRGHHH!"

"ROOOAAARRR!"

Roars, screams, and anguished cries echoed together, filling the air.

But soon, these sounds grew fewer, weaker, and quieter, fading rapidly into silence.

Whoosh!

When the last traces of magical energy finally dissipated, those once ferocious and terrifying Three-Headed Hellhounds lay scattered across the ground, charred black and lifeless.

At the same time, Elyra’s experience bar, level, and the kill count in her quest log shot upward like a rocket, rapidly climbing higher and higher!

[Elyra Auradane]

Gender: Female

Level: 11

...

Glancing at Elyra’s current level, Ethan exclaimed in shock, "Level 11 already? Just like that?"

"Elyra’s AoE spell must’ve wiped out at least two hundred of those Three-Headed Hellhounds..." Elynn murmured, still stunned.

In her mind, it was perfectly natural for Seraphina to possess such overwhelming strength. After all, she was an adult Green Dragon hero—and a Crimson Ultimate hero at that! It’d be strange if she wasn’t powerful.

But Elynn never imagined that Elyra, who wasn’t even fully grown yet, could be this terrifyingly strong. One single skill had instantly obliterated over two hundred Three-Headed Hellhounds. Even Seraphina herself probably wasn’t this powerful back when she was at Elyra’s level, right?

At the same time, Ethan glanced quickly at the quest log data.

"...Successfully killed Tier 6 Three-Headed Hellhounds: 1621/2000!"

"That’s 1621 dead already. If I remember correctly, it was around 1400 before. That means Elyra’s single AoE spell just wiped out nearly two hundred Tier 6 Hellhounds in one go!"

Ethan’s eyes sparkled as he quickly did the math, unable to hold back his amazement. A wide grin spread across his face.

"Now that’s what I call a god-tier mage! Elyra really lives up to the title!"

As a pure mage hero, Elyra’s performance just now absolutely deserved the title "god-tier mage."

One AoE spell had instantly obliterated over two hundred Tier 6 creatures! To put it bluntly, even Seraphina herself, back when she was still young, couldn’t have pulled off something this devastating with a single Venomous Dragon Breath...

In other words, Elyra’s Divine Storm seemed to surpass even Venomous Dragon Breath in sheer AoE damage output...

"But the mana cost is pretty brutal too..." Ethan muttered, glancing at Elyra’s mana bar. "One Divine Storm and she’s already burned through nearly half her mana."

Mana—this blue bar—was basically just decoration for Ethan, Elynn, Seraphina, and even Cicero. It hardly mattered to them at all.

But for a mage hero like Elyra, mana was absolutely crucial! It directly determined how long she could sustain her damage output.

Just then, Elyra struck again.

"Ahhh!"

Her clear, resonant voice echoed once more, filled with holy power. Massive bolts of lightning surged around her small figure, intertwined with dazzling, radiant holy light, growing larger and more intense by the second.

Then, with unstoppable force, the storm crashed down upon the Tier 6 Three-Headed Hellhounds below!

Boom! BOOM! BOOOOOM!

Rumble... rumble... rumble...

Another devastating wave of AoE magic damage erupted, and Elyra officially entered "god-mode," slaughtering everything in sight! Her terrifying magical power swept through the battlefield like an autumn storm scattering fallen leaves, leaving countless Tier 6 Hellhounds collapsed in pools of blood.

Even more terrifyingly, these creatures didn’t even have a chance to struggle or fight back before they were instantly wiped out, becoming nothing more than experience points for Elyra.

This time, another two hundred-plus Three-Headed Hellhounds fell victim to Elyra’s Divine Storm!

And the massive influx of experience points immediately propelled Elyra’s hero level straight up to Level 13!

"Already level 13?"

"Wow, that was fast!"

"So at this rate, Elyra and Cicero should both reach adulthood before we even finish this Infernal Outpost Battle quest, right?" Ethan’s eyes sparkled, excitement spreading across his face.

Clearly, once Cicero and Elyra evolved into their adult forms, Emerald Castle’s overall strength would skyrocket dramatically!

As a Crimson Ultimate hero at C-tier, Cicero’s value and importance definitely wouldn’t be any less than Seraphina’s.

In fact, he might even edge her out slightly!

Why? Simple!

Because Cicero was classified as a "God-tier Logistics and Strategic Hero."

What exactly does that mean?

Let’s put it simply:

Imagine two factions with equal strength, equal territory, and equal numbers of troops and heroes.

One side has a god-tier Combat Hero like Seraphina.

The other side has a god-tier Logistics and Strategic Hero like Cicero.

After decades—or even centuries—of development, the faction with the strategic hero would inevitably gain an overwhelming advantage. That’s the terrifying power of a god-tier Logistics and Strategic Hero!

Their true value lies in their ability to comprehensively boost the overall strength of their faction, creating a positive feedback loop that accelerates growth and power exponentially.

On the other hand, heroes like Seraphina, who are god-tier Combat Heroes, lean more toward individual heroism, shouldering immense pressure and responsibility on their own.

It’s like comparing a general to a sniper.

A sniper might be incredibly skilled, able to precisely eliminate key targets on the battlefield. But their role is limited to pinpoint strikes. A general, however, must understand tactics, consider the entire battlefield, and command thousands of troops to secure victory. Throughout history, legendary snipers became famous soldiers, but the ones who shaped nations and changed history were always the great generals.

As for Elyra, even though her strategic value might not quite match Cicero or Seraphina, she was still terrifyingly powerful in her own right.

Just imagine Elyra as an adult mage—before the battle even begins, she casually tosses out a few area-of-effect spells like Divine Storm. The enemy army would lose ninety percent of their forces before they even got close. At that point, what’s the point of even fighting?

Any leader with half a brain—whether they’re ruling a small kingdom or a powerful empire—would never willingly provoke a fully matured god-tier mage unless absolutely forced to. Such mages could single-handedly determine the outcome of entire wars, their mere existence serving as a terrifying deterrent.

"Congratulations, player Valkarion! Your hero Seraphina has successfully completed the sixth stage of the S-level storyline quest—Infernal Outpost Battle! Successfully eliminated target: Tier 6 Three-Headed Hellhound 2000/2000!"

"Quest stage evaluation: SSS!"

Just then, the system notification suddenly rang in Ethan’s ears.

Ethan froze for a second, realizing that while he’d been lost in his daydreams, Seraphina had already finished off the remaining Three-Headed Hellhounds, completely wiping out the entire wave of Tier 6 enemies.

Because of this, he’d even earned an SSS rating for this stage of the quest.

An SSS rating meant perfection—the absolute highest possible evaluation!

This also meant that once the entire Infernal Outpost Battle quest was completed, the rewards he’d receive would likely be boosted to their maximum possible value.

"An S-level storyline quest, huh? Wonder what kind of sweet rewards I’ll get this time?" Ethan grinned excitedly, turning toward Seraphina and Elyra as they returned. "Great job, you two! But don’t let your guard down just yet. The Infernal Outpost Battle isn’t over—I’m sure the Infernal Legions still have a few more waves up their sleeves!"

"Don’t worry, Master! If those annoying bugs dare show their faces again, I’ll gladly tear them apart with my claws!" Seraphina declared confidently, without hesitation.

"Gururu! Gururu!" Elyra bounced around excitedly, brimming with newfound confidence.

She’d initially thought the enemies would be terrifyingly strong, but after actually fighting them, she realized she was somehow even stronger and more powerful than she’d imagined! Her confidence had skyrocketed, completely washing away the lingering fear and hesitation she’d felt earlier.

"Alright, let’s head back and rest up. We’ll come back in six hours," Ethan said with a smile, leading Seraphina, Cicero, Elyra, and Elynn back toward Emerald Castle.

Before they knew it, six hours had flown by in a flash.

BOOM!

A loud rumble echoed through the air, and the previously silent Hell Gate stirred to life once again. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

"Player Valkarion, your S-level storyline quest ’Infernal Outpost Battle’ has now entered the seventh wave of enemy invasion! Please repel and eliminate the enemy units promptly. Failure to meet the kill quota or exceeding the time limit will result in quest failure!"

"Enemy units: Tier 7 One-Horned Demons! Enemy unit count: 1000. Required kill count: 100. Time limit: 3 hours!"

"Quest timer has begun. Remaining time: 2 hours, 59 minutes!"

At the same moment, the familiar system notification rang clearly in Ethan’s ears.
