My Werewolf System-Chapter 1329: My Luna Wolf (Part 1)
1329 My Luna Wolf (Part 1)
Before Gary had left on his last mission, he had been in the middle of one of the most important decisions a Werewolf Alpha could make, choosing his Luna. It was a role tied to instinct and deep connection, and with many options around him, it had still felt obvious.
He had chosen Xin.
The Luna bond was supposed to be sacred, something powerful between two individuals, and in Gary’s mind, who else could it be but her?
There was, however, one complication, Xin was an Altered.
Through research, though, Gary had discovered something. It turned out he could temporarily suppress someone's Altered powers by biting them. It wouldn’t last forever, but it was enough.
So, he’d bitten Xin once when he made the decision. Then, just before leaving to deal with the Altered Hunters and the Lupus Pack, he bit her again, to solidify the connection, even if he didn’t fully understand how it worked.
After that, he left… unsure of what the result would be, or even how the Luna bond was meant to function.
As it turned out, he hadn’t needed to do anything extra. The moment he bit Xin a second time, the system responded as if his Werewolf instincts had confirmed his choice. The Luna bond had activated.
And now, as she stood on the other side of the apartment door, Gary could sense it.
She was different.
Even before opening the door, his senses told him she wasn’t like the others. There was a unique scent in the air. Through his system, he saw a faint glowing trail, like a marker, something only visible to him. It gently lingered, a path leading straight to her.
‘Why am I only noticing this now?’ Gary thought, eyes narrowing. ‘Was I just too distracted before? Or… maybe her Werewolf side is growing stronger. Could something be interfering with the bond?’
He turned to Edvard, who had previously made a snarky comment about their connection, and simply smiled before stepping toward the door.
He opened it.
“Xin!” Gary said with a smile. “I wasn’t expecting you. How’d you even know I was here?”
Xin walked into the room, her gaze quickly shifting as she noticed someone sitting on the couch.
“Who's the old guy?” she asked bluntly.
“Him?” Gary said, gesturing casually. “Well… it’s kind of a long story. Everyone’s going to find out later tonight anyway, but he’s actually the head of the Altered Hunters.”
Xin’s eyebrows shot up.
“The head of the Altered Hunters?” she repeated in disbelief.
Then she sniffed the air, and immediately winced, as if someone had shoved a handful of pepper under her nose.
“Wait… is that smell coming from him?” she whispered. “He seriously needs a shower.”
Edvard, despite remaining seated, let out a dry cough. His senses were too sharp for whispers to go unnoticed.
“Haha, that smell?” he said, clearing his throat. “That’s an important one, young lady. One you should learn to recognize. You haven’t been a Werewolf long, have you? I think I understand now why they didn’t bring you along on the previous mission.”
He leaned forward slightly, lowering his voice for emphasis.
“Remember that scent, because one day, it might save your life. What you’re smelling now… is a vampire.”
Xin’s eyes widened. She’d heard rumors, stories about vampires being part of the conflict. And while she was somewhat accustomed to her heightened senses as a Werewolf, she had never encountered this before.
The scent wasn’t just unfamiliar. It was alien. Dangerous.
“The Altered Hunter leader is a vampire?” Xin repeated. “I mean… I knew someone high up might be, from what you said, but still. This world is seriously falling apart.”
“As I said,” Gary chimed in, “I was going to go over all the details tonight. You got the message, right? So… why are you here now? And how’d you know I was in this exact spot?”
“Ah… about that?” Xin said, scratching her cheek. “I heard you were back and then I, I don’t know. I had this weird urge to see you.”
She paused, a little flustered.
“I knew you needed rest, so I tried to resist it. But the more I tried to distract myself, the more that feeling pulled at me. Next thing I knew… I’d gone for a walk, and somehow, I ended up standing outside your door.”
Gary raised an eyebrow. That explained a lot. Maybe as Xin’s transformation continued, her instincts were guiding her, too. She might have subconsciously followed the scent trail created by the Luna bond.
“So… you wanted to see me?” Gary asked, grinning as he scratched the back of his head. “Well, that’s nice.”
“I’m really starting to feel like I’m intruding on something here,” Edvard said, standing up. “Maybe it’s time we head out. Don’t we have to be at the club house soon? Why not get there early?”
Gary agreed. Honestly, he was glad Xin had shown up. Seeing her put him at ease, reminded him of what he was fighting for. His family, his friends, and now, Xin. They were the anchors in his life, the reasons he kept pushing forward.
As they got ready to leave, Gary noticed something.
Edvard had started putting the armor back on.
“Seriously?” Gary asked. “Do you really need to walk around in that thing? People are going to stare. They’re gonna ask questions.”
“Just tell them we’re cosplaying,” Edvard replied with a shrug. “Besides, the armor helps my body heal. I only took it off earlier to let my ability recover a bit. Now I need it to keep functioning.”
Gary squinted slightly. A part of him wondered if Edvard had other reasons for wearing the armor, like if he was preparing for a fight or planning a quick escape. But something told him that wasn’t it. Edvard didn’t seem like the type to run.
Once the armor was fully equipped, the three of them headed out. They took a relaxed stroll through the city streets, making their way toward the Wolf’s Pool Club. It was about a thirty-minute walk, just enough time for Gary to think.
He glanced at Xin, walking quietly at his side.
Now seemed like the perfect moment.
‘The system says I have a Luna now,’ Gary thought. ‘So… what can Xin do? And how does this affect me?’
“System, open,” Gary commanded in his mind, and the screen immediately flickered into view.
