My Sloppy Husband Is Actually a Handsome Bigshot!-Chapter 67 A Remittance Slip 3
Chapter 67 - 67 A Remittance Slip 3
"I just can't stand her speaking ill of Yannan."
Lin Zhenxin admitted, today's actions were unlike her usual style.
The words Lemon said earlier, after all, had an impact on her...
"You! When you first told me you were married, I was shocked. And then, when you said the dinner invitation was at Yunjing, I was even more shocked. When you finally introduced your husband, I wasn't jumping anymore, but you really scared me to death!"
Sister Wang laughed and joked. She naturally knew that today's events weren't entirely Lin Zhenxin's fault.
But when one is in the workplace, some emotions can't be expressed so bluntly.
"Sister Wang, he's waiting for me outside, I should get going..." Lin Zhenxin smiled lightly, making Sister Wang shake her head involuntarily.
"Alright, I'll get him a pass on another day, so you don't have to run all the way to the gate at night."
"Then I've got to thank Sister Wang first!"
When Lin Zhenxin got in the car, she handed over the items she was holding to Li Yanan.
"What is this?" Li Yanan tucked her hands into his arms; Lin Zhenxin's hands were ice-cold from the run.
"Red bean soup from the cafeteria, it's really tasty. I got some for you to try."
The station made efforts to improve staff meals, offering sweet soups around seven in the evening, catering mostly to the many female employees.
"I heated it in the microwave before coming out." Lin Zhenxin used the cup lid as a bowl and poured some for him.
Li Yanan looked down at the red bean soup, sweet and aromatic, though he had never liked such soups since childhood.
"You seem unhappy?" Though she was smiling, Li Yanan keenly sensed Lin Zhenxin's off emotion.
He accepted the red bean soup, even though he didn't like it, it was specially brought for him by Lin Zhenxin.
Expressionless, he drank the soup, swallowing it without betraying any hint of dislike.
Lin Zhenxin was momentarily stunned by Li Yanan's remark; she thought she had hidden her feelings well. Yet, he still noticed. fгeewebnovёl.com
"Your interview with He Bainian..."
"I know, someone called me about it already."
Lin Zhenxin barely started before Li Yanan already knew why she was upset.
"You're worried about me?"
The sweetness that lingered in his throat was not something Li Yanan found unbearable now.
"Of course, I'm worried about you." As if he asked a silly question, Lin Zhenxin replied irritably.
"Then listen carefully to what I'm about to say; don't worry about me, because from the start, this has been partially orchestrated by me."
Lin Zhenxin was shocked by his words, remaining silent as she looked at him.
Indeed, the timing was precisely perfect, not a minute more or less, to accomplish the day's outcome.
"Purpose?"
"So smart, Zhenxin. Want to guess?"
Her once icy hands were now warm and soft, making him reluctant to let go.
Lin Zhenxin paused for a few seconds, her expression lost in the car's dim interior.
"Is this... just the beginning?"
Amid countless turns of thought, Lin Zhenxin had sensed something, opting not to answer Li Yanan's last question directly but posing another.
Li Yanan held a faint smile, started the car, and didn't speak.
Sometimes, talking to smart people has its perks.
No hassle!
Exiting the elevator, Lin Zhenxin and Li Yanan coincidentally ran into Aunt Xu, who was ready to leave.
"Aunt Xu, do you live far away? Does Yannan need to give you a ride? I feel guilty about you having to stay so late every time!"
With Aunt Xu around, most of Grandma's daily needs didn't have to burden Lin Zhenxin, so naturally, she felt very thankful to her.
"No, no, I'll take a cab back. Mr. Li will reimburse me."
Aunt Xu laughed kindly, waving her hand; she wouldn't dare let Li Yanan take her home.
After a brief exchange, Aunt Xu turned into the elevator while Lin Zhenxin and Li Yanan headed home.
A casual glance backward by Lin Zhenxin gave her pause, something Li Yanan, already inside, didn't notice.
The elevator, which should be descending, was actually going up.
The hesitation was only momentary, and Lin Zhenxin quickly dismissed it, thinking perhaps it's someone from upstairs who used the elevator.
But...
In retrospection, she realized since moving in, besides their own, there seemed to be no other neighbors in and out...
"Yannan, could you bring my pajamas?"
Lin Zhenxin opened the bathroom door a crack, speaking in a soft voice.
Though sure she placed them there, they were gone?
Planning to wear some dirty clothes first, she found not even those from earlier were there—they were all tumbling inside the washing machine.
Now in the cycle!
Soon, Li Yanan appeared quietly, holding clean clothes.
Seeing him, Lin Zhenxin instinctively hid more behind the door, unaware the light above cast her silhouette completely on the frosted glass.
The door shut again.
Li Yanan stood unmoving for a while.
Quickly dressed, Lin Zhenxin stepped out, surprised to see him still there.
"Didn't you shower already?" she asked, puzzled.
Before she could slip past, she found herself suddenly pinned against the wall.
Li Yanan was careful with the force, not hurting her, yet not letting Lin Zhenxin easily push away.
The lights weren't entirely on, the space dim.
Wide-eyed, Lin Zhenxin looked at Li Yanan. Was she... being cornered by him?
"Zhenxin." While lost in thoughts, she suddenly heard Li Yanan calling her name.
"Huh?"
Having just showered, she was soft and fair, the sight of her half-exposed neck tempting and sweet.
"I need to confess something." When Li Yanan said this, his look couldn't be more innocent.
Lin Zhenxin was bewildered, confess... what?
"I did it." He gestured to the spinning washing machine, where if Lin Zhenxin looked closely...
She'd definitely see her previously worn clothes...
Rolling inside!
Lin Zhenxin's eyes widened; they were wet, like a startled little animal!
"Oh." Leaving just that, Lin Zhenxin tried to sidestep him, averting his gaze.
Knowing his one-arm-against-the-wall stance was making her heart race.
Li Yanan wasn't about to let her off that easily.
Bracing an arm against the wall, he could intercept her movements with ease, his high vantage point clearly viewing her neckline.
After a few rounds, realizing she couldn't evade his hold, Lin Zhenxin gave up, glaring at him.
Seeing her relent, Li Yanan chuckled, his smile radiating as if outshining the moon and stars.
"Don't smile!" Lin Zhenxin tried to cover his face, blocking out the disarming curve.
Who knew the man, reputedly ungroomed and unsightly, would actually be so captivating?
Especially those eyes that, when glancing at someone, sent shivers like electricity!
Truthfully, Lin Zhenxin slightly regretted marrying this enigmatic man, but she'd never dare say it to him.
Unexpectedly, Li Yanan seized her hand on his chest, disrupting her stance.
"Zhenxin forbids me from smiling, so I won't." His smile vanished, quickly reverting to a usual stern demeanor.
The rapid change made one gape!
"Then release me!" Lin Zhenxin seized the chance to play along.
"Release you?" Watching her eyes shine like stars in the dim light, Li Yanan deliberately prolonged his tone.
"Don't dream!" he quipped, and the stars went out.
Knowing he intended to tease, Lin Zhenxin chose not to engage further.
Noticing a sizeable gap beneath his arm on the wall, she bent down when he wasn't watching, trying to slip away like a fish, but Li Yanan, predicting her move, pressed forward...
"Um..." Startled, she ended up sitting on the floor, a pained sound escaping.
Realizing he went too far, Li Yanan quickly lifted her off the ground.
The next moment, she found herself sitting on the washing machine, feeling embarrassed by his child-carrying gesture.
But soon, Lin Zhenxin couldn't help it, bursting into laughter.
She found the two of them looking how they did very amusing.
"Laughing, so heartless!"
The washing machine was in spin mode, the vibration felt peculiar as she sat on it.
"Let me down!" She extended her arms toward Li Yanan, pleading.
Silent, he gently picked her up and carried her to the room.
The night deepened, city lights extinguishing as it slept.
In the hotel's presidential suite, one person remained awake, standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, eyes like cold stars.
The studio had surpassed its initial preparation phase, with investments, loans, all arranged, awaiting the right opportunity.
That opportunity, coincidentally, came knocking unexpectedly.
He Bainian's gaze moved to the coffee table, where lay a document delivered that afternoon.
It detailed the various questions to be raised during a radio interview, with sensitive ones highlighted in red.
"Li Yanan..." facing J City's bustling nightscape, He Bainian's eyes brimmed with gloom.
Yet soon, another slim figure surfaced in his mind.
"Lin Zhenxin..."
The two people He Bainian mentioned had no idea someone was contemplating them.
In the darkened room, only moonlight poured through the window.
Under normal circumstances, Lin Zhenxin would have long been asleep, yet today...
Her heart raced; though she didn't turn around, she felt Li Yanan's burning gaze in the darkness.
The already warm room got hotter, and Lin Zhenxin wanted to kick off the blanket—it was truly too hot!
"Zhenxin..." Li Yanan's voice approached like a specter.
She bit her lip, ignoring him, yet he soon called out softly again.
