Chapter 118: She Left Annoyed

(Karsten)

I hadn’t planned to get so annoyed. But the thought of another man touching her didn’t sit right with me and I ended up losing control and saying things I shouldn’t have in the first place.

Jealousy was an ugly emotion—an emotion I was not familiar with. Especially when it came to a woman.

’So what did you want, that she would choke to death? Chan was only helping her,’ my brain reprimanded me.

’Well, Miranda could have done it.’ I made excuses I shouldn’t have been making.

The real reason was that I was getting possessive. So when she confronted me and told me I couldn’t control her life, I became petty.

I said the words I should never have while advancing towards her with anger sprouting from every pore of my skin.

"What if he is the one stalking you? Did you think about that? Or are you too occupied ignoring all the signs because he is your friend?" I mocked, not even recognising my own voice. frёeωebɳovel.com

What was I even doing? Fighting with her like a jealous, overprotective boyfriend.

Her small mouth opened in shock at my words, and her ever-shining eyes blazed like blue wildfire at that moment. She gave me an incredulous look as if I was an alien she was seeing for the very first time and not the man she had come to know in the past two months.

Too far, I had gone too far.

"Then you should check people properly before hiring them. Isn’t he part of your company? Didn’t know you liked hiring stalkers," she retorted back, her face going red with fury.

And then, she pointed with her index finger and accused me. "Or are you just jealous because I enjoy his company?"

I didn’t trust people but Chan was one of the sweetest and kindest employees I had. No woman had ever complained about him or had been stalked before. Besides, I was confident that the person stalking her was linked with the past of Arata’s parents.

She did have a point, though; maybe I was jealous. Before I could answer, she spoke again.

"You know what, don’t answer that. I can’t deal with you right now."

Disappointed, she was extremely disappointed in my words and seeing the pained expression on her face, I wished I could take my words back.

She shook her head and turned away from me, hiding her beautiful but angry face. Rapidly moving towards the office door.

"Wait, Arata," I desperately called after her but she had already left my office. The door slammed shut behind her. Leaving me with so many jumbled thoughts and grappling with emotions that I had no idea how to handle.

The blinding ache of guilt had germinated in my heart.

I had screwed up, she was already under a lot of stress, and I knew Miranda and Chan made her happy, and yet I had gone out there and ruined it for her.

I couldn’t be happy and wouldn’t let others feel it too. I rubbed my face in frustration and knew I needed to make it up to her.

Grabbing my phone, I dialled Roshra; her sincere advice would come in handy. She picked up on the second ring.

"Hey! Kari, what’s up brother?"

"Hey, Roshra. I am good, How have you been?"

"Beautiful and rocking. You know me. So why did you call?" She asked, knowing there must be something on my mind.

I paused. I had never asked her such a question but then there had never been someone like Arata in my life.

"Actually, I needed your help."

"Woah! With what? Let me guess. Did you fight with Arata?" She snickered. Roshra was smart, smarter than Raysir.

I rubbed the back of my head and answered.

"Yeah! Something like that."

"And now you want me to help you figure out how to make it up to her. Right?" She questioned next, humour visible in her voice.

"Something like that. I am not the one who apologise."

"Oh, my clueless brother. Relationships don’t work without apologies. You have to make tons of them, sometimes even if you are not wrong." She knew I didn’t do relationships. Even if this one was fake, I needed everyone to believe I was serious.

"Just tell me what to do, Roshra. Help your brother out. Give me something easy."

"Firstly, tell me how much you fucked up? How pissed is she?" Roshra asked.

"She stormed out of my office for the first time, so I guess I am pretty screwed. She has never done that before." I thrust my hand into my pocket and fisted it. The guilt was making my heart heavier by the second.

"Hmm, get chocolates and whatever she loves, and go apologise. And, let me add, sincerely. A woman can always tell your intentions. So put in some effort, big brother," she emphasised, making me think hard and ponder on my next course of action.

"Thanks, Rosh. I think I know what I need to do."

"Best of luck, Kari. Hoping she forgives you. Seems like you found someone special or you wouldn’t be asking me for help. Goodbye," she snickered and ended the call.

I pocketed my phone and left my office. This needed to be done by me and me alone. I couldn’t ask Olphi or others to fetch these things for me.

I glanced in the direction of her office door but she had shut it too. I could always check what she was doing with the hidden camera, but somehow, it felt wrong now. Quietly I took the elevator and arrived in the parking lot. Taking my car, I hit the road to get the stuff I needed to make up to her.

There were a few stops I needed to make. This was not something I had seen coming when I woke up this morning but then nothing went as planned when Arata was involved. She had spiralled my life out of control from the moment she had entered it. I had a feeling it was only going to get wilder from here.

That’s when my phone vibrated in my pocket. Someone had texted Twisted Rider, and I knew who it was.
