Miss Witch Doesn't Want to Become a Songstress-Chapter 238
Three days later, Thilan, accompanied by Ruby and Annelie, arrived at the activity room of the Indigo Cornflower club.
Compared to their last visit, the place was unusually quiet. The spacious floor was filled with empty tea tables, and many of the decorations that had once adorned the room had been removed, leaving behind empty spaces.
Deep inside the activity room, Sesaron was nestled in Pecosy’s arms, her eyes red and swollen, as if she had just been crying. The female attendant they had seen before stood quietly behind the two, as always, keeping watch.
"It’s okay, Sesaron. Even after we graduate, we can still form a fun organization. We won’t have the pressure or constraints of the academy anymore."
Huna, sitting nearby, patted Sesaron’s shoulder, trying to comfort her. However, her movements were slightly hurried, indicating that she wasn’t entirely calm either.
Seeing Thilan and the others arrive, Pecosy looked up and gently stroked Sesaron’s hair.
"They’re here. Please wait a moment."
After speaking, she glanced at the attendant behind her, who nodded slightly. The attendant first guided the three to sit at an empty round table not far away, then went to the tea room to prepare some red tea for them.
Hearing Pecosy’s words, Sesaron buried herself deeper in Pecosy’s embrace, not wanting to face anyone. She felt particularly humiliated and vulnerable today and didn’t want to see outsiders.
"Alright, you’ll have to face it sooner or later. You’re doing great today, Sesaron. I’m here, and they won’t say anything harsh," Pecosy whispered comforting words into her ear. After a while, she finally managed to coax the usually flamboyant girl to lift her head.
Sensing the tension in the room, Ruby stood up and went over to greet them first.
"Good morning! This is the superstar, Ruby. I was wondering if any of you would like to join me for a walk and lunch."
"Lunch? It’s still a bit early for that. But if it’s a walk in the nearby vineyard, I think that would be nice," Pecosy responded.
"Then it’s settled~"
The attendant soon brought over the tea, and the three sipped it quietly. After Pecosy managed to calm the emotions of the two beside her, they all stood up and walked out of the room together.
They took the elevator downstairs and walked through a long corridor, eventually arriving at a lush vineyard. The atmosphere gradually relaxed, and they no longer had to face each other directly as they had in the room.
"The grapes are almost ripe," one of them remarked as they stood under the vine trellises, looking up at the clusters of green grapes hanging above.
"How about we come here for a picnic after this is all over?" Pecosy continued to soothe the two beside her.
"Hmm..." Sesaron stared blankly at the sunlit, translucent green grapes above, lost in thought.
"What about you, Huna?"
"Me? Anytime is fine," Huna replied casually, tossing her hair, but her eyes deliberately avoided looking at Thilan and the others nearby.
Thilan didn’t mind this and simply stood not far from them, quietly following along.
Later, the six of them sat down at a stone table in the vineyard. By now, Sesaron had calmed down a bit, though she still didn’t feel like talking.
"When is the apology meeting scheduled?" Huna suddenly asked.
Annelie flipped through the notes on her clipboard and answered, "This Friday morning. Some reporters from news outlets friendly with the academy will be there. They won’t make things too difficult."
"But there will still be plenty of humiliation," Huna snorted, turning her face away, her expression growing somber.
Although she usually acted rebellious, she wasn’t as carefree about this situation as she pretended to be. The thought of her mother seeing the news on the Star Network, and the potential damage to her reputation, made Huna restless.
Sensing the mixed emotions swirling within the three across from her, Thilan whispered a few words to Annelie, who then stood up and left with Ruby to wait outside the vineyard.
"It’s June already. The academy’s June snowflowers are about to bloom," Thilan stood up, her back to the three, gazing at the lush greenery in the distance.
"Time passes year by year. Some people grow up, while others grow old. Many things we once cared about gradually fade away. This Friday might be tough, but it will pass."
"Childhood friends often drift apart as time goes on. It’s not uncommon..."
She sighed softly.
"I wonder, Senior Sesaron, whether you think temporary embarrassment is more important, or if you value your close friends more."
After saying this, she turned around.
"I used to be very careful about maintaining friendships, but the other person didn’t see me as a true friend. I was just an object of amusement and ridicule for them."
"I envy you, Senior Sesaron. Even though you’ve made mistakes, your unrestrained boldness has attracted like-minded companions."
"Cherish what you have now, Senior Sesaron. If you can come to your senses, that is."
After saying this, Thilan walked out of the vineyard, leaving the three behind to reflect on her words.
...
Three days later, the press conference was held in one of the academy’s buildings. Many reporters arrived, and under the guidance of the teachers, Sesaron and the three other girls stepped onto the stage. They bowed deeply and then apologized for the mistakes they had made over the past two years. They expressed their willingness to volunteer for six months of community service and pledged to donate a sum of money to improve healthcare for the underprivileged. Finally, they announced the dissolution of their club and vowed not to participate in or organize any similar activities in the future.
Facing them were numerous high-definition cameras recording the entire event. Reporters stepped forward to ask questions.
"What made Sesaron suddenly realize her mistakes?"
...
"Did the higher-ups at Edess Academy threaten you, perhaps with expulsion or withholding graduation?"
...
"Could you tell us what kind of community service you plan to do? Will it involve traveling and having fun as promotional ambassadors?"
...
Although many of the news outlets present had been briefed by the academy, some reporters still asked pointed questions, leaving the inexperienced students unsure how to respond perfectly.
Fortunately, the academy’s public relations team had prepared in advance. Through tiny earpieces, they guided the three on how to handle the questions, and the press conference managed to conclude without any major mishaps.
"These reporters are terrifying," Annelie muttered under her breath.
"That’s just how reporters are. They thrive on chaos and always want to dig up sensational news," Ruby, who was already familiar with this, explained.
"Sometimes, the best way to cover up or suppress a story is to create an even bigger one to divert everyone’s attention."
"Forcing the suppression of a story often backfires and is more trouble than it’s worth."
Ruby then went on to explain various methods and common tactics used in the entertainment industry to stir up drama.
"Let’s hope this apology achieves the desired effect."
