Mercenary's War-Chapter 71 - 70 Surprise
71: Chapter 70 Surprise
71 -70 Surprise
Molotov’s capacity to get things done in Russia was phenomenal.
Within a few hours, he had managed to process a visa that would’ve normally taken at least several days.
Although Gao Yang didn’t know if it was real or fake, as long as he could board the plane, that was good enough for him.
Gao Yang and his group were headed to Johannesburg in South Africa.
Their flight was scheduled to depart at half-past two in the morning.
With the passports that Lao Liu had secured visas for, they smoothly passed through the security checkpoint.
Despite being constantly on edge, no problems arose until the flight took off.
As for Lao Liu, he had left even earlier than Gao Yang and his group.
For Lao Liu, he couldn’t wait to leave Moscow—the trip had been nothing but an unexpected disaster.
As soon as he handed over his passport to Gao Yang’s care, he immediately rushed to catch a plane to Vladivostok.
From there, he could enter Harbin City by land.
For Gao Yang, the journey to Johannesburg was actually quite enjoyable since Yelena was sitting right beside him.
After removing her heavy makeup, changing into clean and fresh clothes, and taking off her flamboyant wig, Yelena transformed.
Gone was the appearance of the punk girl, and in her place sat a blonde beauty with great charm.
If Gao Yang hadn’t seen Yelena’s fierce side, he would never have believed that the demure and elegant girl sitting next to him, and the one who stabbed a man’s face with a bottle and crushed a man’s testicles with high heels, were the same person.
The impression that Yelena and her mother Natalia had left on Gao Yang was profound.
He couldn’t determine whether the innocent-looking Yelena or the Yelena with off-the-charts combat ability was her true self.
Being looked at by a beautiful and charming girl with adoring eyes, and constantly asked questions, Gao Yang felt quite pleased.
However, considering that the girl was his sworn brother’s daughter and only sixteen, he instantly felt an overwhelming sense of frustration from not being able to take any further steps.
Most importantly, Yelena’s mother was sitting right next to her.
Although she always had a smile on her face, Gao Yang didn’t fancy provoking Yelena under the watchful eye of Natalia, whose looks and combat skills were comparable to a T-Rex.
After chatting with Yelena about all that he could, Gao Yang, with no alternative, feigned sleep to avoid her admiring gaze.
The psychological shadow cast by this mother and daughter pair was too profound, making Gao Yang want nothing more than to keep them at a respectful distance.
By the time the plane arrived in Johannesburg, it was already daylight.
After disembarking, Gao Yang faced the most serious obstacle on his escape route.
At the entrance checkpoint, while Natalia and Yelena passed through smoothly, a black inspector scrutinized Gao Yang’s face and passport back and forth numerous times, but just wouldn’t stamp it and let him through.
Gao Yang knew what the inspector wanted.
It was nothing more than waiting for Gao Yang to slide a bribe.
This habit was targeted at Huaxia people, because they would typically offer money to resolve the issue as soon as they faced difficulties.
If it were up to Gao Yang’s nature, he would never give in to paying, not because he was stingy, but because he couldn’t tolerate the indignity.
Unfortunately, his passport was indeed a fake, and he did feel guilty.
To avoid causing himself bigger problems, Gao Yang discreetly pulled out two hundred-dollar bills.
After receiving Li Jinfang’s passport, he slipped the money inside and handed it to the black inspector.
With US dollars paving the way, things became easy.
Gao Yang and Li Jinfang went through customs without issues, and only then did they truly arrive in Johannesburg.
Once in Johannesburg, Gao Yang had no idea what to do next.
If it was just him and Li Jinfang, they definitely would have tried to head straight for Libya.
There was a war going on in Libya, making it a lucrative time for mercenaries.
But with Glolov’s wife and child, they would need to plan things out carefully.
Now that he had arrived in Africa, it was certainly up to Glolov to decide what was next.
Gao Yang found a public phone and then called Glolov.
The first time he called, no one answered.
Gao Yang waited a few minutes before calling again, and finally, someone picked up.
But before anyone spoke, Gao Yang heard a muffled explosion, and then Glolov’s voice came through.
“Hello, who is this?”
At the sound of Glolov’s voice, Gao Yang felt somewhat reassured.
He said urgently, “It’s Gao Yang.
What’s happened over there?
I think I heard an explosion.”
Knowing it was Gao Yang made Glolov quite pleased, and he laughed, “Nothing much, they’ve started bombing Tripoli, but it’s far from us, no worries here.
Rabbit went out, he insisted on trying to see if he could witness the bombing.
By the way, do you need me to call him for you?”
“No need to call him, how’s your recovery going?”
“Very well, exceptionally well.
I can move around on the ground now, and in a few days, I’ll be completely fine.”
Knowing that Glolov could already move around, Gao Yang relaxed a little and said gravely, “I have something to tell you.
I’m in South Africa right now, and I haven’t given your money to your wife and child because I’ve spent it all.”
After a brief silence, Glolov asked in surprise, “You called me just to say this?
Well, if you’ve spent the money, I believe you had a necessary reason.
It’s okay, I can earn it again.
You know, the rate Gaddafi is offering is very high now.
Libya is a paradise for mercenaries at the moment.
I can quickly earn as much, or even more, so don’t worry about it.”
Gao Yang struggled to suppress his laughter and sighed, “Thank you for being so magnanimous.
Well, the reason I didn’t give the money to Natalia and Yelena is that I brought them to South Africa.
The travel expenses were high, so I had no money left to give them, and you still owe me.”
After a pause, Glolov finally said in a breath, “What did you say?
What do you mean?
Gao, don’t make jokes like this.”
Gao Yang laughed and said, “Alright, no more joking.
Something happened in Moscow, and I had to bring your wife and child to South Africa.
I didn’t consult with you, but I think you won’t blame me.
Now, if you agree to give me ten thousand US dollars, I’ll let you talk to your wife or daughter on the phone.
How about that, are you interested?”
Glolov’s voice almost sounded frantic, and he shouted, “Gao, I’ll give you a hundred thousand, let them talk on the phone now!
If you dare to be joking with me, the next time I see you, I’ll beat you flat!”
Gao Yang laughed and said to Natalia while holding the receiver, “Perhaps you’d be interested in taking a call, a call from your husband.”
