Mated To The Cruel Prince-Chapter 62: Never Leave Her
Chapter 62: Never Leave Her
"How do I look?" Islinda stepped out of the cottage and appeared in front of Valerie in a new pair of masculine tunic and pants. freewēbnoveℓ.com
When they got back to the cottage, Valerie handed her the clothes since the cloak was wet and heavy on her, and her old clothes were dirty. Even though they had pretty much done everything, Valerie still gave her the privacy to dress up which was kind of cute. Her feelings for the handsome Fae were so obvious that it might as well be written boldly on her face.
Valerie was seated on a bench outside and started a small fire which he used to cook the hunt he caught earlier. He turned around at her presence, his sight running over her appreciatively and she flushed at his heated gaze.
"It would have looked much better on you had it been my clothes," He said with a smirk at the corner of his lips.
"A-ha! I knew it! You stole the clothes, didn’t you, Valerie?" Islinda queried him with narrowed eyes, daring him to lie his way out.
Valerie’s mouth fell open when she came to stand in front of him, her arms akimbo. However, the shock soon gave into a smile and he teased her, "What would you do if I stole it from the village?"
Her face fell.
Valerie chuckled, before pulling her down onto his lap and Islinda went red in the face. The both of them were not hesitating this time in displaying their affection for one another.
"Don’t worry, I did no such thing. "
She gave him a look of unbelief. There was no way Islinda believed he simply walked up to a store in the village and they gave it to him, for free.
"Well. I might have broken into the store at night...." He paused as her look of disapproval increased and he swallowed yet continued, "But I dropped enough compensation for them. Trust me, I paid for everything I took."
"Really? You paid for it? Where did you get the coins?" Islinda asked with suspicion, some things did not add up.
Islinda felt Valerie’s arm tighten around her as if she had asked a question she shouldn’t have. But then, she was pretty determined to get the answers she sought - even if she wouldn’t like it.
Valerie licked his lower lip and answered with a sigh, "I was in communication with one of my people on the other side. He got me what I needed, Islinda." He confessed.
"Oh, is that so?" Islinda said, her voice a little less enthusiastic than earlier.
Valerie sensed the change in her mood because he crooked a finger beneath her chin and turned her face to him,
"What’s the problem, Islinda? Tell me."
Islinda bit the inside of her cheek while fidgeting with her hands. How was she going to tell Valerie that she feared he would leave her? That she might wake up one morning and find out that he was gone from her life forever. Was she a fool to delude herself that this was going to work out between them?
"Islinda, talk to me. What’s wrong? I might be powerful but I still can’t read your mind. No Fae can read a woman’s mind. " He attempted to lighten the mood but Islinda was not flattered.
"Please?" He begged her.
"Are you planning to leave me?" Islinda asked, holding his gaze.
"Islinda...."
"Don’t sugarcoat it. Tell me, yes or no?"
"No." Valerie answered, his jaw clenched tight, "I won’t leave you. At least not now. And not without due notice."
While the answer was not exactly what she wanted, Islinda was momentarily satisfied with it. Perhaps, it was selfish of her to demand Valerie stayed with her in the human realm when his entire family waited in the Fae realm and probably worried about him. But then, he was Fae and could move easily between both realms unlike her.
If Islinda walked through that divider and got caught by a Fae, she belonged to the creature. It was the law. And that was a risk Islinda was not going to take, not even for Valerie. While it was risky to stay with the humans, Valerie was powerful and no one would cross him. Moreover, she would protect him. It was the least she could do for their law.
"Islinda...." Valerie leaned forward till their forehead touched, saying, "You know deep down that I would have to return home one day...."
Islinda stiffened at the thought and would have moved away but Valerie ran his hand through her hair, holding her still, "But I want you to know that what is between is not child’s play. I want to be with you as much as you will be with me."
"Of course, I would be with you. As long as you want, I don’t care. " Islinda mumbled, tilting her head as she sought his lips and pressed her mouth against his.
Valerie soon took over the kiss, deepening it as she moaned into his mouth. He kissed away her fears and doubt, and by the time he was done, Islinda was boneless with desire.
They did not take it further, but Valerie buried his face into the crook of her neck and sniffed deeply.
Islinda pushed back, arching a brow at him, "Are you sniffing me?"
He smiled, "I am Fae, Islinda and we are tactile. Our senses are heightened and we like to experience everything. You don’t know how additive your scent is."
"My scent?" Islinda was surprised, lifting her arm to sniff her armpit and scrunched her nose in the end with a disappointed look, "I smell nothing other than my sweat." And my horniness, she added in her mind.
Valerie shrugged, "Perhaps, it’s because I’m Fae but you smell tempting, like a deadly sin."
Islinda rolled her eyes, knowing he was exaggerating this time.
Valerie burst into laughter and she pushed him away playfully, choosing to take the space on the bench instead of his lap.
"It’s not funny." She glared at him.
"Fine, no more teasing. It’s time to eat, you sensitive human." Valerie shook his head in laughter, bending down to check the meat he roasted over the fire.
Islinda bit down on her lips while watching him, wishing that this moment would last forever.
