Mated To The Cruel Prince-Chapter 50: He Loves Being A Villain
Chapter 50: He Loves Being A Villain
What has that little human done to him?
It has been two days since Islinda left and several times, Aldric has come close to ruining his plans. It took everything in him not to kill her pathetic family that day. He was always in charge of his emotions, but Islinda kept putting him in situations where he was tempted to lose control and lash out at his victims. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
Aldric had one motto when he pretended to be the child Eli and inserted himself in her life, it was not to interfere in her affairs unless it was profitable to him in the long run. In one word, he was minding his business. He had influenced Remy’s mind for his good, but killing her stepmother and the other smart sister was out of the picture, at least until he got what he wanted.
But that day Aldric saw Islinda get kicked out, he almost risked it all until he realized this was not over and she was coming back. Her evil stepmother withdrew her resources to push her into the arms of her proposed son-in-law, Ryder. Why does the thought of that annoy him so much?
The more time Aldric spent with these people, it made him begin to wonder between he and the family, who was the greater evil? At least when he strikes, he kills only the body, but these people break the spirit and soul. And that seemed to enforce his small vow to the human, he would kill all of them for her when this was over. It was little payment for all the trouble he would put her through soon.
Of course, there was a huge probability fate was always going to interfere with his plans, but on the bright side, it pushed Islinda into the loving arms of his brother, Valerie. He followed her that day, not that she noticed. Aldric did not scare her like that night when she snuck out again to meet his brother. It was fun to tease her and the human proved to be entertaining. To think she could ever outrun him.
Aldric intentionally stopped following her when his brother appeared. It was not time for him and Valerie to meet yet. It was not like that night this time because he intended to keep her safe, not scare her like the trickster he was. Aldric knew the little human didn’t care, he saw the dead look in her eyes and suspected she planned to end it all.
Well, she tried but it was never going to happen, not on his watch. Not when he had great plans for her.
As a winter Fae, he could tap into the power associated with his court but Aldric hardly practiced it because he preferred his dark powers over it. Dark Fae power was stronger, wild, dangerous, and deadlier. It protected him and gave him the strength he needed to trample over his enemies. But that day for her sake, he carefully suppressed it knowing how turbulent it was, and brought forth his winter powers instead.
Unlike his dark powers, cryokinesis, the ability to create and manipulate ice at will was not difficult to control but harder to master. He had suppressed this ability most of his life and was practically ignorant of how to use it, nonetheless, his urge to protect the little human was greater hence the ability came to him instinctively. Aldric was then able to control the snow around her, even if he broke a sweat doing so.
He was the only reason she did not perish in the snow and lessened the intensity of the cold. But then, Valerie was smart and Aldric did not make it seem so obvious that he helped her. He stopped her from dying but she was still going to suffer for tempting death. He hid as always, watching from the corner as his heroic brother rescued her.
To be honest, it irked Aldric that she was going to wake up thinking that Valerie rescued her, when he did all of the hard work instead. He had sworn never to use his winter ability because it waned his darker ability, but he did it for her. For her alone. He would love to receive compliments for his work sometimes, you know. Especially after achieving a hard feat like this one.
Aldric was part winter Fae and part dark Fae, either both powers were balanced inside of him or one exceeded the other and consumed him. His dark power was stronger and he chose that one. His people already despised him for being half-dark Fae, so why bother growing his weaker winter powers and attempt to be good? No, he loves being a villain.
And that was why he was here tonight stalking a specific target. Islinda might not thank him for rescuing her ass from the cold but she would surely thank him for this one. Aldric was currently crouched down on the roof of a building while he observed a pub.
Well, he was not really observing, but waiting and Aldric was full of patience. It was his greatest attribute, after all, a patient Fae gets the greatest reward. And not long after, his target staggered out of the pub and he grinned malevolently. It was time.
He jumped down from the roof gracefully without making a sound. But Ryder must have sensed a shift in the air because he turned and he was gone. The stupid human turned without thinking twice about it, stumbling away to his destination. His alcoholic-filled brain did not register that he was being followed even though Aldric made it pretty much obvious.
To think they wanted his little human to marry this pathetic fool. No, it was not going to happen, he would get rid of this fool. So he stalked Ryder till they got to a lonely track where no one would interrupt him and he appeared in front of him.
"W-who are you...?" Ryder slurred out, finding it difficult to stand straight.
"Your killer." He grinned fiendishly just as his hands retracted into black claws.
Ryder’s eyes cleared as he recognized the threat and Aldric allowed him a moment of fear before he attacked.
