Chapter 143 - 143. Magic Isn’t That Difficult

----

Kamar-Taj.

Inside the Ancient One's dwelling.

While discussing countermeasures against Dormammu with Wong, the Ancient One suddenly paused.

Because Nolan's presence had vanished from Kamar-Taj.

Wong sensed it too and couldn't help but say, "Did that guy Nolan run away? Tomorrow is the day his wager with Mordo gets tested. Leaving Kamar-Taj like this, did he realize he couldn't master the Mirror Dimension and choose to give up?"

Wong's tone held disappointment and frustration.

He and the Ancient One both knew about Nolan's bet with Mordo. Wong had actually been looking forward to seeing whether Nolan could master the Mirror Dimension within three days.

If it were anyone else, Wong wouldn't believe it for a second, but Nolan had mastered the Sling Ring teleportation portal in just three days, and he was someone personally acknowledged by the Ancient One.

There was really a sliver of possibility.

If he could really pull it off...

Then Nolan would be the most talented individual in Kamar-Taj's recorded history, surpassing even all previous Sorcerer Supremes.

But now he'd vanished?

The Ancient One smiled calmly. "He didn't run. I can't foresee his choices, but I know he's not that kind of person. He's simply using his own methods to win the bet."

Before them, golden sparks bloomed in midair, forming a glowing projection like a holographic screen, showing Nolan's current location.

...

In the lab, Nolan clutched a fragment of the Tesseract.

Nearby, Otto was fine-tuning radiation equipment. Under Nolan's constant direction, he fired different energy beams at the fragment.

"Beta's not right. Next!"

"Nope."

"Still wrong!"

After three types of radiation, Nolan, meditating, finally noticed that the once-blurred space nodes were beginning to reveal faint outlines. What was previously like looking through 800-degree nearsightedness with 200-degree glasses...

Now, under Sigma radiation, it felt like he was wearing nearly clear 600-degree glasses.

"Set Sigma radiation frequency to 1032 Hz. Light intensity to 200 candela!"

Nolan issued instructions with closed eyes. Otto wanted to protest, but seeing Nolan's focus, he relented.

The Sigma ray burst into intense brilliance, slamming into the Tesseract fragment. It glowed blindingly.

"This is the decay process of Spatial Element #3. It has extremely volatile mutations..."

Otto couldn't help but warn. This third element, among the isotopes emitted by the cube, had the fastest decay rate, highly prone to causing biological mutation.

"No worries."

Nolan let a veil of glowing white Shenron Force cover his body, blocking all emitted radiation.

Otto, of course, was already in a protective suit.

But in Nolan's meditation, the space nodes were crystal clear. Not just like glasses anymore, his spiritual vision was now 20/20.

"That's the one."

Otto, seeing Nolan's reaction, quickly logged the emitted magnetic field's frequency and strength.

"It's all recorded!" Otto confirmed.

Nolan opened his eyes.

No wonder the Space Stone was a cosmic artifact. Even a mere fragment, when triggered by the right radiation, granted insight into what so many magicians struggled with: the hidden fabric of space.

Even a sliver of power from it was enough to allow teleportation through space with only minimal understanding.

Back then, Red Skull had been transported by the cube, likely because his will to leave triggered a neural frequency that activated the Space Stone.

Otto shut down the machines, and the cube dimmed, returning to its dull gray form. Nolan also dispersed his Force shield.

He reviewed the readings and began adjusting his brain's magnetic field to match the recorded data.

...

Back in Kamar-Taj, Wong stared at the illusion. "What... is Nolan doing?"

"He's using his own method to practice Mirror Dimension," the Ancient One replied. "That shard he's holding is from the Tesseract. By using targeted radiation, he's stimulating the cube's spatial energy, allowing him to feel the space nodes more clearly, thus giving him the edge to master the Mirror Dimension."

Wong's eyes widened. C"But isn't that... cheating?"

The Ancient One smiled. "Not at all. Watch."

In her view, Nolan's approach was astounding. To her, Meditation wasn't about rigid rules, but about recognizing the truth of reality.

Wong kept watching, full of questions.

...

In the lab, Nolan synchronized his brain's magnetic field to the recorded data. Meditation followed, and the Sling Ring activated, channeling the power of the Vishanti.

Suddenly, an entire network of space nodes appeared in his mind.

In physical science, space was a result of gravity, where massive bodies warped spacetime, creating the curvature we experience.

But in mysticism, space was composed of countless interconnected nodes. These nodes could even house pocket dimensions, fleeting worlds waiting to be tapped into.

Both views weren't wrong, just different angles of the same truth.

Nolan simply built a bridge between them.

He wasn't trying to fully fuse science and mysticism yet; only beings of multiversal tier could do that. He was merely borrowing their overlap to accelerate his learning.

As he felt the ubiquitous space nodes—

Nolan's hands moved rapidly into mystic hand seals. Orange-red energy coiled around his wrists like fiery bracers.

He carved through the spatial membrane with precise incantations. Where others failed to catch fleeting pocket realms, Nolan's immense focus let him lock on.

Using the stability of the material world and the channeling power of the Vishanti, he tore through the dimensional barrier and...

Created his own Mirror Dimension.
