Male Lead's Canon Fodder Wife-Chapter 1449: Desperate Solution ( 1 )
At eight o'clock in the morning, Li Chenmo and his wife arrived at the county town's hospital. After parking his bicycle, he went to register at the counter while Lu Jueyu waited in the lobby.
Since it was still early, they didn't have to wait long before it was their turn. After receiving their number, they went to the doctor's office and waited another half an hour before being called in.
Seeing them, the doctor smiled and gestured for them to sit before asking, "Comrade, how are you feeling now? Do you still have morning sickness or feel dizzy?"
Lu Jueyu smiled at the doctor and replied, "Doctor, I no longer feel dizzy, but I still have some morning sickness from time to time."
The doctor nodded and said, "We will need to take some blood for a test and you don't need to take folic acid anymore."
"Okay," Lu Jueyu nodded.
After drawing blood, she had her blood pressure checked, then waited with her husband for the results.
At this time, while ultrasound technology existed, it wasn't widely used, mainly available only in the capital or large cities. So, the county hospital couldn't perform detailed checks on the baby's condition.
Even so, based on Lu Jueyu's diet and physical state, both she and her husband were confident the baby was fine. After all, she had consumed plenty of spiritual herb powder during her first trimester.
An hour later, the blood test results finally came out, and they returned to consult the doctor. The doctor reviewed the results and said with a smile, "Both mother and baby are healthy. Light exercise is recommended, but avoid lifting heavy objects."
She glanced briefly at Li Chenmo and added, "And as for activity in the bedroom, it's better to wait another two months."
At first, they didn't quite grasp the doctor's meaning. But after a moment, both realized she was advising them to abstain from sexual activity for the next two months.
When the meaning clicked, Lu Jueyu blushed and lowered her head, while Li Chenmo nodded solemnly and said, "Doctor, I understand."
Lu Jueyu glared at her husband but didn't say anything. After asking a few more questions about precautions, the two of them left the doctor's office and returned to the lobby. Once they had paid the hospital fees, they got on their bicycle and rode home.
At the same time in Yunnan City, Jiang Ziyu was having a meal with a man. Judging by his attire, it was clear the man was a cadre.
While they ate, the man asked, "Brother Jiang, it's rare for you to invite me out for a meal. Did something good happen?"
Hearing this, Jiang Ziyu smiled and replied, "I recently got married and haven't had the chance to introduce you to my wife. It's been a while since we last had a proper meal together, so I figured I'd take the opportunity while I had some free time."
When the man heard this, he nodded and said, "Congratulations on your marriage, Brother Jiang."
After a brief pause, he added with a sigh, "If my sister knew you had gotten married, she would be heartbroken."
Jiang Ziyu shook his head and said, "Brother Wu, you know there was never anything between your sister and me. Please don't say things like that, it could damage her reputation."
Wu Yu sighed and said, "I know."
After finishing their bowls of noodles, Jiang Ziyu lowered his voice and said, "Brother Wu, I heard the capital hasn't sent last month's supplies. Is that true?"
Wu Yu nodded and replied, "Yes. That's exactly the issue we are facing. A lot of people have been submitting petitions to the higher-ups complaining about this matter."
"Their families depend on those monthly rations, and with supplies delayed for more than a month, tensions are rising. If this isn't resolved soon, it could become a serious problem."
Jiang Ziyu thought for a moment before he said, "Brother Wu, I actually have surplus grain on hand. I'm not sure if your leaders would be open to purchasing from me."
"I had considered selling it to the state-owned grain and supply store, but the price they are offering is far too low. So I have been holding off until now."
Wu Yu's eyes widened in surprise the moment he heard his words and asked, "Brother Jiang, where did you get that much grain?"
"It was sent over by a friend of mine. He heard about the food shortages here and sent it to help." freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Though Wu Yu was curious about this friend, he refrained from prying and asked, "How much grain do you have available?"
"At the moment, around 2,500 tons that I can sell. I don't know if it's enough to resolve the whole issue, but that's the most I can offer," Jiang Ziyu said with a sigh.
Wu Yu was stunned by the number. It took him a moment to recover before asking, "Where did your friend get that much grain?"
"He lives near the mountains and found several grain fields. He and his family harvested the crops themselves. After processing them, he sent them over when he learned about our situation," Jiang Ziyu replied calmly.
His answer came so smoothly that Wu Yu found it difficult to doubt him. Even if the origin of the grain was questionable, the need was real. After weighing the risks and benefits, he decided not to press for more details.
After a brief silence, he said, "Brother Jiang, I will visit you after I speak with my superiors about this."
Since his objective had been met, Jiang Ziyu nodded and said, "I will wait for your news."
"Alright."
The two parted ways after the meal. While Wu Yu went to work, Jiang Ziyu returned to meet with his men to discuss how to proceed with selling the rest of the grain.
While the situation in Yunnan City worsened day by day, the capital was faring no better.
