Madam, Please Behave-Chapter 335: Growth
January 10th.
Noon.
The elementary school's final exams started a bit earlier this year, beginning on the morning of the 9th. They finished in just a day and a half, and today was the last session.
For once, Liu Changqing showed up at the school gate, ready to pick up his daughter after her exam.
He hadn’t left An Yuanyao home alone—actually, right now at his house, his nominal in-laws had already arrived.
After An Yuanyao called her family, the elderly couple didn’t rush over immediately. Instead, they came a week later, which was today—January 10th.
Besides them, An Yuanyao’s younger brother and sister-in-law also brought their kid along to visit. You could say... their whole family gathered up and set out together.
Because her family was there, Liu Changqing felt at ease coming out to pick up his daughter, who was about to start her winter vacation.
At first, Liu Changqing had suggested booking a high-end venue to properly host his in-laws.
But An Yuanyao said that just getting together at home was enough, no need to make it so fancy. In fact, her family thought the same.
Since everyone thought that way, Liu Changqing didn’t insist otherwise.
He didn’t have to wait long.
After chatting with Feng Qian for just a little while, the students started pouring out, signaling that their winter break was about to begin.
Maybe because the New Year was near, even though they just finished exams, the kids were bubbling with excitement, chattering non-stop, looking super happy.
But... who knows if they’d still be laughing once their scores came out.
While Liu Changqing was thinking about this, Feng Qian nudged him with his elbow and reminded him.
"Your daughter’s out."
Snapped back by the reminder, Liu Changqing quickly spotted his daughter among the crowd. He was just about to raise his hand to signal her.
His hand was halfway up, hadn’t even called out yet, when he noticed something: that clingy Wang Tianhao was following his daughter again.
The boy seemed to be talking to her urgently about something.
But this time, neither Liu Xiazhi nor Feng Shuyan paid him any attention.
When the two girls spotted their dads waiting for them in the familiar spot at the gate, joy lit up their faces, and they quickened their pace.
They didn’t even glance at Wang Tianhao trailing behind—they just ran straight toward their fathers.
Liu Changqing noticed this.
"Dad!"
With his daughter’s voice, she threw herself into his arms. Startled, Liu Changqing quickly caught her, worried she might bump into something.
"Careful, don’t fall!"
While speaking, he scooped her up in one smooth move. Feeling his daughter’s closeness, Liu Changqing smiled and looked at Feng Qian and his daughter.
"I’ll head home first," he said with a grin.
"Sure, drive safe," Feng Qian replied.
Liu Changqing kept the farewell simple.
Being carried in her dad’s arms, Liu Xiazhi also waved and said goodbye to them.
"Bye, Uncle Feng! Bye, Shuyan!"
"Alright, bye-bye!"
"Bye, Xiazhi!"
Smiling warmly, Feng Qian and Shuyan also turned and headed to their car.
Liu Changqing took his daughter back to his own car. He was about to put her in the back seat when he noticed that the previously ignored Wang Tianhao had somehow caught up.
And the boy called out to them.
"Uncle, wait a minute!"
Just as Liu Changqing was placing his daughter into the back seat, he heard Wang Tianhao’s voice. His daughter also stuck her head out of the car window to look.
The moment she saw it was Wang Tianhao, Liu Xiazhi instantly pulled her head back and muttered in a somewhat annoyed tone.
"Dad, let’s go home. I don’t want to talk to him."
"Oh ho..."
Liu Changqing let out a strange little noise. He glanced at his daughter inside the car, then at Wang Tianhao, who had heard her words and looked stunned.
A smile crept onto Liu Changqing’s face.
Even though he didn’t know exactly what had happened, this was definitely a good thing in his eyes.
Of course, as an adult, Liu Changqing wouldn’t mock a kid. So he looked at Wang Tianhao and kindly said:
"Haohao, you should head home too. Stay safe on the way and don’t talk to strangers!"
After saying that, Liu Changqing didn’t pay him any more attention. He walked around the car to the driver’s side, buckled up, and started the engine.
Only when the car began to move did Wang Tianhao seem to wake up from a daze. And at that moment, his face was full of despair.
His small eyes even seemed to glisten with tears.
Watching the car drive away, Wang Tianhao started running after it, shouting at the top of his lungs.
"Xiazhi... Xiazhi, let me explain!!"
But there was no way he could outrun a car. After running just a few meters, he realized it and stopped.
He covered his face with both hands, his shoulders trembling.
Parents who were nearby picking up their kids saw everything clearly.
Looking at Wang Tianhao’s odd behavior, they all cast amused glances his way.
Meanwhile, Liu Changqing was driving.
Through the rearview mirror, he glanced at his daughter in the back seat and asked curiously,
"Why are you suddenly ignoring him?"
Before he even finished speaking, Liu Xiazhi’s face turned angry.
She crossed her arms and pouted, looking very upset.
"He tried to hold my hand," she said, grumbling.
"What?!"
Liu Changqing’s smile froze. A moment later, his expression completely changed.
He should’ve taught that brat a lesson earlier!
In the back seat, Liu Xiazhi didn’t notice her dad’s expression. She just kept talking.
"After the exam, he followed us... then I felt him touch my hand. Mom told me already that at my age, I can’t hold hands with boys. It’s not right!"
"Outrageous! That brat’s gone too far!"
"Exactly!"
Nodding vigorously, Liu Xiazhi continued,
"Shuyan also told me he’s weird and said I should stay away from him!"
"She’s absolutely right, I agree 100%!"
"Hmph, I’m never talking to him again!"
Hearing his daughter say that, Liu Changqing took a deep breath. Outwardly he stayed calm, but inside he was overjoyed.
He didn’t know exactly what lesson An Yuanyao had given their daughter last time, but clearly, it had worked really well.
Now, she wasn’t that clueless little girl who didn’t understand boundaries between boys and girls anymore.
Driving the car, Liu Changqing looked into the rearview mirror again and saw his daughter’s unhappy little face because of what happened...
Wife... you did great!
