Chapter 73: Chapter 70: Great Beauty "Bao Bao" (Added for the 12th Alliance @Lust Emperor Demon Fairy Yue)
"You must be Yan Yan, Bao Bao has been talking to me about you all the time," Bao Meina had never met Yan Yan before.
"Bao Bao, ah..." Yan Yan felt a bit uncomfortable with Sister Bao’s reference to her.
"But Mei Bao is Bao Bao, isn’t she?" Bao Meina also noticed Yan Yan’s discomfort.
"So, you’re Nana?" Yan Yan offered her deduction.
"That’s right," Meina replied with a smile.
Bao Meina and Bao Bao really did look exactly alike; even their smiles seemed as though they were carved from the same mold, with the upward curve of their lips being identical.
"We’re more used to calling her Bao Bao, but you’re right, if we called her that at home too, it would be impossible to tell them apart. You two already look so similar; without some distinction in names, I bet even our parents would get confused," Yan Yan mused, realizing that if they both were called Bao Bao at home, there would be too many Bao Baos in the Bao Family.
"When we were little, they often got us mixed up, but once we grew up a bit, Bao Bao’s style of dress became completely different from mine. Our middle school classmates rarely made the mistake of confusing me with Bao Bao. Come on, let’s go inside for some tea," Bao Meina invited Yan Yan to come and sit in the house. (note 1)
Bao Bao had mentioned to Bao Meina a few days ago that Yan Yan would visit their home today.
Yan Yan had also called Meina just after leaving Xiamen University.
So, when the doorbell rang, Bao Meina did not let the Filipino maid answer, but came running out herself.
"Let’s wait before going in, Bao Bao asked me to bring you a gift, and it’s on its way now. It should arrive soon, so let’s chat in the yard for a while, and we can go in once the gift is here," Yan Yan’s main purpose in visiting the Bao Family was to deliver a gift, not to drink tea.
Although they had never met before, Yan Yan felt as if she was already very familiar with Bao Bao’s sister. She didn’t have the slightest sense of acting as guests do.
"Isn’t the gift with you? Bao Bao is being all secretive; I have no idea what it could be," Bao Meina said curiously.
At that moment, she hadn’t yet guessed that Bao Bao would give her such a grand graduation gift.
"The gift she’s sending is too big for me to carry," Yan Yan said, shaking her head with a smile.
"What on earth is it? I’ve been curious for several days now," Bao Meina’s curiosity was piqued even more.
"It’ll be here soon, and you’ll find out what it is in no time," Yan Yan felt there was no rush in revealing the gift. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Within a few minutes, as the massive piano packing box came into Bao Meina’s view, Sister Bao’s face showed a sense of surprise that rendered her utterly speechless.
"My little sister really never grows up; we already have one grand piano at home, and here she is, sending me another one. Where am I supposed to put it?" Bao Meina’s tone sounded like a complaint, but her expression didn’t show the slightest sign of complaining.
"About that, first of all, the piano Bao Bao sent is made of different materials.
Secondly, regarding your concern, Bao Bao had already considered that.
She said there’s already one piano in the living room on the first floor.
This piano should go in the living room on the second floor, placed somewhere close to your room."
Bao Bao was especially considerate, as she feared that lifting this heavy piano to the upper floor might cause damage, she had arranged for a crane, which should be arriving any moment now.
"Bao Bao also said that since you’ve graduated, she’ll first send the piano to your house, and when you’re about to get married, she’ll find a crane again to help move it to your new home," Yan Yan conveyed Bao Bao’s words.
The reason Yan Yan found Bao Bao’s method of gifting, necessitating a crane, so astounding, was also an important factor.
"What’s considerate about that? Doesn’t she know that the most important thing about a piano is its sound quality, not the material?" Meina looked disgusted.
"Seeing that smile on your face while you complain, I know you are from the same fertilized egg as Bao Bao. Bao Bao also likes to complain at particularly touching moments," Yan Yan almost thought she was talking to Bao Bao a moment ago.
"Really? I clearly only have complaints without being moved," Meina didn’t want to admit her feelings about Bao Bao’s gift.
"Wait until you see the true appearance of this piano, then you’ll only be moved without any complaints," Yan Yan was very confident about the material of the gift Bao Bao had sent.
While in Melbourne, Bao Bao had mentioned to Yan Yan the reason for sending this piano.
As a child, Meina had started learning the piano because she fell in love with a crystal piano toy.
"Bao Bao has opened two cafes in Melbourne," she said, "one for herself and the other for you, so she took an entire year’s income from one of the cafes to buy you this gift. Do you really feel not the slightest bit moved?" Yan Yan waited for Sister Bao to lay eyes on the crystal piano before she asked.
"She doesn’t even come back, what’s there to be moved about?" In reality, Meina cared a great deal about her younger sister’s behavior – getting a "wife" and forgetting her sister.
"Bao Bao really wanted to come back, but Shen Xi fell ill, and they haven’t found the cause yet, so Bao Bao really couldn’t return recently," Yan Yan explained on her behalf.
"Is Bao Bao really going to marry Shen Xi? Even though I convinced Mom and Dad, I still think she’s too young. There’s no need to consider getting married so soon," Meina, who was only five minutes older than Bao Bao, always placed herself firmly in the role of an elder sister.
"Their relationship did progress quite fast, but from what I’ve observed, it’s not a decision made on a whim," Yan Yan offered her own opinion.
"If it had been me who went abroad, Bao Bao probably wouldn’t be like this now," Meina felt a bit responsible.
"From what I see, the two of them are very happy together. Bao Bao likely doesn’t regret her decision to go abroad," Yan Yan continued with her perspective.
"But the marriage hasn’t even taken place, and that girl has fallen ill. Can Bao Bao handle it all by herself out there?" This was Meina’s greatest concern at the moment.
"Shen Xi’s family is in Australia; if there’s really something wrong, they definitely wouldn’t leave Bao Bao to deal with it alone," Yan Yan tried to offer comfort.
"You go out and keep an eye on her for me. She’s grown up so much, yet this is her first time in a relationship," Meina couldn’t help worrying about Bao Bao.
"Ehm – Bao Bao is actually quite mature. During our time in Melbourne, she was the one looking after us, and we seldom had to look after her," Yan Yan stated truthfully.
"Her maturity is all an act; she’s never really been mature," Sister Bao clearly disagreed with Yan Yan’s statement.
"Maybe as an elder sister, you’ll always feel that your younger sister will never grow up. But you’re only five minutes older than Bao Bao, how can you have such feelings?" Yan Yan was a bit curious.
"From the day I was born, I’ve been an elder sister. That has nothing to do with how much older I am." For Meina, being an elder sister was something innate.
"Perhaps because I’m an only child in our family, I’m somewhat unfamiliar with the kind of feeling you’re describing. If I had a twin sister, I would certainly feel very fortunate," Yan Yan expressed a bit of envy.
"That’s not necessarily true; you might end up arguing from childhood all the way to adulthood," Meina said gently as she sat down in front of the crystal piano.
