Chapter 71: Chapter 68: The World is So Vast, There’s Nothing That Doesn’t Exist (Extra for @Lust Emperor’s Loneliness, the Third Alliance Hierarch)
Yan Yan returned to Xiamen to attend Ning Xuan’s graduation ceremony, and there was another matter he had to attend to in Xiamen.
Today, not only was Ning Xuan graduating, but so was Bao Bao’s sister, Bao Meina.
Bao Bao originally planned to come back for the graduation, but Shen Xi fell ill, and they had to postpone their wedding.
Unable to return personally, Bao Bao had no choice but to entrust Yan Yan with delivering the graduation gift to Bao Meina.
The gift Bao Bao gave to Meina was definitely a grand gesture.
A crystal grand piano that had been custom-ordered a year ago.
It was made of real crystal and was indeed a real piano.
Not made of glass, nor was it a toy piano.
Yan Yan found Bao Bao’s way of giving gifts astonishing, not merely because of its expense.
But more importantly, Bao Bao had spent a year researching what graduation gift to give, and then another year ordering and waiting for it.
A person who starts thinking about a graduation gift two years in advance.
Yan Yan had truly never encountered such a person before.
It must be the bond between identical twins, something beyond the understanding of ordinary people.
Yan Yan had never met Meina, but Bao Bao said that even if she hadn’t, she would definitely recognize her.
A stunning beauty who looked just like Bao Bao.
Yan Yan was well acquainted with the handsome "Brother Bao Bao," but still couldn’t quite imagine what the "Beautiful Lady Bao Bao" would look like.
.........
Qi Yi called.
"I’m about to go to bed; have you finished attending your roommate’s graduation ceremony?" Qi Yi asked Yan Yan on the phone.
"Yeah, I just left the venue, nearly fainted from the heat." Yan Yan fanned herself to cool down as she responded to Qi Yi’s question.
"Is it really that exaggerated?" Qi Yi was amused by Yan Yan’s tone.
"Really, it’s hot, crowded, and Jiannan Hall at Xiamen University didn’t even have air conditioning; it was simply inhuman," Yan Yan continued, her voice slightly exaggerated.
"You go to your roommate’s graduation but not mine. Let me guess, it must be because you couldn’t stand even the sight of your own school’s hall, so you’re venting out for me," Qi Yi joked.
"Xiao Qizi, you shouldn’t talk like that. I’ve got my visa to the United States sorted out, and even bought my plane tickets, but then you suddenly tell me your mom is coming to your graduation. If I went over too, do you think that would be appropriate?" Yan Yan felt that if anyone needed sticking up for, it was herself.
"I think it’s quite appropriate. My mom hasn’t met you, and she would definitely like you if she did," Qi Yi shared his opinion.
"Usually, I’d believe anything a good-looking guy like you says, but this thing you just mentioned, I really can’t convince myself to believe," Yan Yan somewhat dejectedly countered Qi Yi’s assertion.
"When have I ever lied to you? I know there was some unpleasantness when you spoke with my mom before, but she wasn’t targeting you at that time. She was just overly obsessive about me going to Peking University. She’s not particularly difficult to get along with," Qi Yi continued with his views.
"Either way, I’m not yet prepared. I just want to have a peaceful romance with you and I haven’t thought about meeting parents and such. You need to give me more time to prepare myself mentally for that," Yan Yan spoke, betraying a ’once bitten, twice shy’ sentiment.
"Are you implying you want to play the field with me?" Qi Yi asked Yan Yan.
Some time before, Qi Yi saw a popular internet saying online, ’A romance without the intention of marriage is like playing the field,’ and he had asked Yan Yan what she thought about it.
"I don’t have any intentions of playing the field right now, but if I get scared by your mom again, I think..." Yan Yan paused.
"What do you think?" Qi Yi seamlessly followed up the question.
"I think I’ll wait until I’m mentally as strong as a fortress," Yan Yan laughed as she continued.
"No playing the field with me," Qi Yi reminded Yan Yan very seriously.
"Uh, as for playing the field, it’s still up in the air who might end up doing just that.
Can we change the subject?
I just saw the photos you sent from Stanford’s graduation ceremony.
Do people really only wear a pair of briefs to attend your school’s graduation ceremony?" Yan Yan swiftly switched the topic.
"The photos I sent you, do they look fake? Stanford’s graduation ceremony is at the university’s stadium.
The entry ceremony is almost like an athletic event.
The school doesn’t have any strict dress code for the graduates.
So, there are all sorts of outfits; many treat the graduation as a fashion show.
Those who dress to the nines, those who dress as cartoon characters, those who go without clothes, any style is considered reasonable and normal.
If someone enters wearing just briefs, it’s probably because they have family attending.
Our school also has a ’Nude Run’ festival, where appearing completely naked isn’t considered unusual," Qi Yi naturally accepted Yan Yan’s change of topic.
"Melbourne has a Nude Run too, but our university’s graduation ceremonies are always very solemn, serious, and grand. Everyone must go on stage to receive their diploma from the chancellor. I’ve never seen anyone treat a graduation ceremony as a nudist event."
"That just shows our school’s uniquely free and open academic atmosphere," Qi Yi stated, quite convinced.
"Uh, can I ask, what does nude running have to do with academic atmosphere?
Does Stanford judge a person’s academic skills by whether or not they wear clothes?
Your grades are so good; is it because you often participate in the Nude Run festival?" Yan Yan asked in an exaggerated and particularly baffled tone.
"Do you think I’m the type of person who would participate in the Nude Run?" Qi Yi asked Yan Yan for confirmation.
"The world is so vast; anything is possible. Without seeing your school, who knows what style you adopt there?" After Yan Yan said that, she even pursed her lips cutely.
Yan Yan’s expression was adorable, but unfortunately, Qi Yi on the other end of the phone could not see it.
"Are you serious?" Qi Yi asked with a hint of speechlessness.
"Hahaha, what do you think?" Yan Yan changed her expression.
"The world is so vast; anything is possible. I’ve never looked inside your head, who knows what’s in there?" Qi Yi’s tone was nothing if not resigned.
"Pfft~ you just know to copy what I say," Yan Yan protested.
"Since I can’t see you, isn’t it okay to mimic your speech?" Qi Yi declared her protests invalid.
"Sure, feel free to emulate me; for now, I’m not considering charging royalties," Yan Yan generously proclaimed.
