Lord of the Sky City-Chapter 826 - 808: Refusal!
For the Three Great Alliances and the two major companies, the conditions proposed by Athena were relatively acceptable to the other parties, at least they were attainable. However, when it came to the Heavenly Ancestor Church, Athena showed no such goodwill.
The only condition she proposed for the Heavenly Ancestor Church was two large Sky Cities!
Heaven’s Commencement City.
Heaven’s Grace City.
This was Athena’s sole condition, and everything else was non-negotiable.
Of course, Athena also provided time for consideration. After all, such a major decision certainly couldn’t be made by a single delegate; it absolutely required Rick’s approval. So Athena agreed to give Valachi three days to respond.
In principle, this timeframe wasn’t too short. But to Valachi, it felt as though no time had been granted at all, for he knew that even if he consulted Rick, Rick would absolutely not agree to such a demand.
This was Athena’s attempt to choke the Heavenly Ancestor Church to death!
It had been mentioned before: due to repeated conflicts with Rocky, the Heavenly Ancestor Church suffered the most severe losses among all parties involved. While the loss of troops was immeasurable, the destruction of Sky Might City and Fury City alone had already surpassed the Heavenly Ancestor Church’s capacity to endure.
Bear in mind that while the Heavenly Ancestor Church was a powerful force with numerous followers, it only owned five Sky Cities. After Sky Might City and Fury City were destroyed by Rocky, the church was left with just three Sky Cities — aside from Heavenly Ancestor City, only Heaven’s Commencement City and Heaven’s Grace City remained. Under such circumstances, Rick couldn’t possibly trade these two cities for Rocky’s demands. If he truly did so, while he might save his son, the Heavenly Ancestor Church would be finished.
Therefore, Valachi didn’t even need to seek Rick’s approval to know that Athena’s condition was impossible to accept. But even if he disagreed, what could be done? With two of the Three Great Alliances already having reached agreements with Athena, the initiative was fully in her hands, leaving him no room to maneuver...
Alone in his room, Valachi sighed. In the end, he still took out his Magic Energy Communicator to contact Rick. After all, he was merely a delegate, and these burdens ultimately had to be passed on to Rick to deal with.
Meanwhile, as Valachi contacted Rick, representatives from Sigma Corporation and Uranus Corporation were also making arrangements to meet with Denise and Kashu.
"No way, absolutely no way!"
As soon as Denise heard the conditions proposed by Athena after meeting with the negotiating representative sent by her company, she immediately shook her head.
"Tell my father that he absolutely cannot agree to their terms!"
Glancing at the representative her father had sent, Denise said urgently, "Magic Conduction Technology is the key to our company’s survival. It’s currently the only technology that can contend with Rune Technology! Once we achieve a breakthrough in Elemental Technology, with Magic Conduction Technology as a foundation, the sixth-generation armor will be capable of rivaling the White Demon. At that point, we’ll have the capital to negotiate with Rocky, so the technology must not be handed over!"
It must be acknowledged that even though she was now a prisoner locked away in a cell, Denise’s intellect still made her remarkable.
She was acutely aware of the critical importance of her Magic Conduction Technology. In some ways, this technology had effectively breached the limits of Magic Stones in mana storage. Therefore, just as she stated, this was currently the only technology capable of competing with Rune Technology. Moreover, it would be the cornerstone for Sigma Corporation’s ability to continue its existence in the future!
Denise was not only a genius in armor design; she was also the future Sect Leader of Sigma Corporation, with a far-sighted vision.
At present, Rune Technology had been thoroughly researched by Rocky, which in all likelihood would cause a transformative upheaval for the entire Armor Domain in the near future. Traditional armors may well be directly phased out under this upheaval, and any companies that hadn’t mastered Rune Technology would inevitably be phased out alongside traditional armor designs.
In this context, the only existing technology that could rival Rune Technology — Magic Conduction Technology — became the lifeline of Sigma Corporation. As long as the corporation held tightly to this technology, further breakthroughs in Elemental Technology would undoubtedly enable their sixth-generation armor to challenge the White Demon and ensure Sigma Corporation’s survival amid the coming transformation. Hence, under no circumstances could Denise agree to surrender the technology.
"Rest assured; Rocky will not kill me."
In response to the negotiating representative’s concerns, Denise was confidently reassuring: "Rocky is solely interested in benefits; he has no penchant for killing. You can negotiate with him without worry — my life can be preserved by offering other concessions."
Denise exuded confidence as she addressed the representative. Although her interactions with Rocky were limited, her understanding of his many exploits instilled in her confidence that he wouldn’t dare kill her.
Coincidentally, Kashu — in a situation identical to Denise’s — made similarly resolute statements to his company’s representative.
"Absolutely not. We cannot hand over the sixth-generation armor technology to them."
Facing his representative, Kashu demonstrated a steadier disposition. While he and Denise shared leadership roles, Denise’s father still held power, whereas Kashu had long since become the Sect Leader of Uranus Corporation, appearing more like a natural upper echelon.
"Based on my observations, though Rocky has developed Elemental Technology, the application of such technology in his White Demon Armor is clearly not yet mature. In this regard, we are not only at parity but even retain a certain advantage. The other party aims to acquire the entirety of our sixth-generation armor technology to draw inspiration from our research. We must not compromise; otherwise, our corporation will collapse. Should Rocky perfect Elemental Technology, we would lose all advantage entirely — not just in comparison to Rocky but potentially falling behind Sigma Corporation as well. We cannot allow such an outcome to occur."
"But… Sir, Athena’s stance appears very resolute. If we refuse… plus, the Sky Alliance and Kafka Empire have already struck deals with her…"
"Rest assured; Rocky will not kill me."
Looking at his representative, Kashu replied with a smile, "I’ve studied Rocky. He has sufficient decisiveness but lacks murderous intent. His decision to capture us reflects his resolve, but he wouldn’t dare truly kill me or Denise."
"Moreover, his foundation is ultimately shallow. Although he commands the most advanced technology, he still lacks resources everywhere. This is precisely why he wouldn’t kill Denise and me — he wants to extract more benefits from us to strengthen his position."
"So go and negotiate with Athena. Agree to anything else — they can ask for as much money as they want. A deal can definitely be achieved."
"Sir, what if Athena refuses?"
"If she refuses…"
Pausing momentarily, Kashu’s expression shifted into a sly smile: "You mentioned earlier that the Magic Energy Research Institute hasn’t agreed to Athena’s conditions yet, correct?"
