When Mei Mei was picked up by Jingzhe in the evening, he did not drive her home. Instead, he took her to an amusement park, which was shocking. At first, she thought he had brought Mingzhu but there was no child, it was just them two.

He was filled with energy and very optimistic and he announced that this would be their very first date. He was not going to wait for the divorce certificate to come in before showing her how happy he could make her.

A little exhausted after a day of digging and working, Mei Mei smiled politely when Jingzhe called the amusement park date the ultimate bonding experience as he placed elephant ears on her head.

"A Zhe, why an amusement park?" she asked him.

He brushed his palm against her cheek, resting it there briefly. Looking into the beautiful abyss of her brown eyes, he said. "Because the only trips you have taken to amusement parks since you married have been for Mingzhu. You always stood on the side and smiled and waved at her. In the pictures I have seen, she was holding ice cream and having fun. You were holding nothing and just there as her escort.

Then, they moved in t duck pond, picking floating ducks to reveal hidden prizes. Mei Mei won six prizes by cheating, using C4.

They played ring toss and she won a stuffed unicorn. Jingzhe won a stuffed alien plushie. It was green, resembled an ant and had two large glistening eyes and antlers. When he squeezed its belly, it said, "I come in peace."

For some reason, it amused Mei Mei so much that she laughed until her stomach cramped. They played coin toss, robot fights which required players to control the robots with remotes and virtual reality glasses. Jingzhe won and Mei Mei sulked.

He went away with two small robot toys whose only ability was to break dance. Because they were a couple, they were given male and female robot toys.

From there, they played the water gun race, another virtual reality game. It was combined with special effects and when the character in the game was splashed with water, the real person felt a cold splash.

After the ice cream break, they hit the rides, visiting one after the other. She did not even question the fact that did not wait in line like other people. Mei Mei was no coward but on the drop tower, she screamed so loudly that her voice could shatter porcelain tea cups.

Their last stop was the haunted house and in there, it was Jingzhe’s turn to scream. Mei Mei had to protect him from the zombies, scare crows, knife wielding maniacs and ghosts...human and hologram.

When they eventually came out, he was sulking like she had done at the robot fighting ring.

"I need a do over of the haunted house." He mumbled.

Deep down, she wanted to chuckle. The sound of his lady like screams when the zombie pounced on him in the dark would forever be etched onto her brain.
