I've Become the King of Villains in the Game-Chapter 718 - 453 One Month
Chapter 718 -453 One Month
“Teacher, thank you for your teachings. I will work hard to practice them,”
Polaris said, recovering from his excited emotions with a grave voice.
Snap!
A sound of a click from fingers echoed.
Cards flew out of Jack’s hand as if by magic, whirling and turning with a continuous fluttering sound, shooting into the midair of the tent before starting to circle around him.
Eventually, like birds returning to their nest, the cards neatly stacked into a pile, coming to rest in the palm of Jack’s hand.
“The Western War will continue for a while. You can use this opportunity to sharpen your combat skills and gradually become familiar with the abilities of a ‘Magician’…”
Chen Lun placed the deck of cards in Polaris’s hands.
“Next, I look forward to your performance.”
“Yes, Teacher,”
Polaris said, gripping the cards tightly and speaking solemnly.
Although he knew they were nothing more than an ordinary deck of cards, they contained his teacher’s expectations.
Polaris took those expectations very seriously.
Just then, the tent flap was lifted. To the astonishment of everyone inside, a dozen small figures walked in.
They were upright-walking black cats, donned in leather armor, with a string of tactical pouches around their waists and even carrying swords that were clearly too large for their size. freewebnøvel.coɱ
The players couldn’t help their curiosity and used Scout, but what was displayed was a string of horizontal lines for unknown, only the bright red names indicated that they were not to be trifacked with. The one leading was a black cat wearing a brown leather eyepatch over the left eye and carrying a massive axe, with a name hanging above its head—
[Circus Black Cat Samurai Squad Leader – Nada]
The black cats ignored everyone, walking straight to Jack’s desk. The black cat Nada saluted Jack like a human leader and began to speak:
“Mr. Jack, Miss Floey and the others have completed the mission. They have sent us back to report to you first.”
“Well done,”
Chen Lun nodded and praised.
Nada briefly recounted the events, how the Circus executives had followed the plan, bypassed the Bridgehead Fortress’s defenses, found the underground passage tipped off by the leader, and lay in wait there, ultimately intercepting Anlong’s retreating army.
There were some unexpected issues, but Floey was very astute and resolved them with ease.
A smile crept onto Chen Lun’s face as Nada narrated.
Though he had already covertly witnessed it all through the Pale Mark, hearing the process from his subordinates’ mouths was a completely different experience.
Meanwhile, the players in the tent, upon overhearing this, revealed expressions of astonishment. They hadn’t expected that the enemy’s utter defeat in this battle was due to Mr. Jack’s early arrangements.
“—No wonder we didn’t see any of the Circus executives before; turns out they were hiding in the Bridgehead Fortress all along.”
“—I knew it was too coincidental at the time. Just as Anlong’s army started to show signs of retreat, we received the mission to surround the enemy through the underground passage.”
“—Without a doubt, Mr. Jack must have foreseen all this, or perhaps it was ‘Destiny’s guidance’? Hahaha…”
Dongyang and others exchanged thoughts over the channel, and Su Keying chimed in:
“—By the way, have you guys checked the game forums? There are posts from Miracle Guild players sharing their faction’s missions… Among those, one thing sparked a lot of discussions. They said that underneath the Bridgehead Fortress, a huge amount of explosives was buried. Anlong’s army was planning to detonate them while retreating, but for some reason, they couldn’t ignite the fuse; they even tried to burn the gunpowder directly at close range, but it didn’t work.”
“—What? There’s such a thing?!”
“—If that’s the case, Anlong still had a trick up their sleeve. Thankfully, the explosives didn’t go off, or the Imperial Army might have suffered huge losses… Most of us probably would have died in the explosion too.”
“—Those darned turtles from Anlong, they’re ruthless…”
“—Hey, since Jack knew where the enemy was retreating, he must have known about the explosives… What do you say, could it be his doing that the gunpowder didn’t ignite?”
“—Eh! That makes sense! Northern Bro, you’re Jack’s student, why don’t you ask him? Maybe you’ll even trigger a quest…”
Polaris glanced at the channel’s messages thoughtfully.
A mass of explosives under the Bridgehead Fortress?!
Did the Imperial Military know about this?
So…
What about Teacher?
He fell silent for a few seconds, finally deciding to speak up and ask. If the teacher didn’t know, it would at least serve as a warning.
“Teacher, I have something to report to you,”
like a student raising his hand during class, Polaris spoke up.
Chen Lun, seated in his chair, turned his gaze toward him, and then smiled,
“Go ahead.”
“It’s about the Hercules Bridgehead Fortress… Through some special channels, we’ve learned some intelligence from other Undead Foreigners. Someone discovered a large amount of explosives buried beneath the fortress.”
The players all watched Jack’s expression, hoping to pick up some clue, but to their surprise, Jack simply nodded nonchalantly.
The next second, his gaze swept over everyone, his pupils seemingly blooming with radioactive patterns, intoxicating to behold.
All present players received a notification from their panels—
[You are under the influence of Jack Spett’s abilities!]
Suddenly, the scenery of the tent as seen by the players shifted, transforming into a terrifying scene… Beneath the dimly red setting sun, the Bridgehead Fortress standing across the Benavides River exploded into flames against the gloomy environment, countless soldiers torn to shreds by the fire without even a chance to scream.
