Infinite Wealth System: Crazy Tasks, Insane Rewards!-Chapter 47: Proof Confirmed
Chapter 47: Proof Confirmed
Jayden left Old Texas with a series of troubling thoughts in his mind. Lydia had said that, but she didn’t even reveal who she was actually referring to.
She had literally decided not to tell him, wanting him to see for himself, and this had made Jayden feel quite uneasy.
They went straight to the café with the DEA officers for the experiment. The plan now was to make a new drink by adding the Amber Bloom while the officers watched.
Jayden and Melinda had no issues with that, because that was definitely what Mel had been doing... Now it didn’t look frightening anymore... fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Reece and the others spotted them immediately as they approached from the backdoor, since the crowd was tense in the compound.
"Mel, are you okay?" Reece rushed to her with a plain look of concern.
"Yeah, I am. Don’t worry," Melinda smiled at him before moving forward to the preparatory room.
Harper and George approached her as well, and she gave them a believable assurance. Plus, they could see Jayden, who was calm just like her, which meant the problem was likely to have been solved.
"Good afternoon, boss."
Reece and the others greeted in unison, and Jayden only waved. Actually, he didn’t really like being greeted that way, since he was very young...
He could clearly figure that Reece was even older than him, or perhaps they were the same age. George must be older, no question.
But Harper—sure, she kinda looked like someone around Sofia’s age or even slightly younger. Jayden bought her cuteness for a short moment before turning away after their eyes clashed.
She had clearly noticed his admiration and blushed hard as she rolled her eyes.
’She is a worker here. I should stay away,’ Jayden thought.
...
After taking a good glance around, the DEA ordered that Melinda begin.
They followed her to the machines where she brewed, watching her every move and addition. It was a very similar procedure to other coffee-making recipes, and there was nothing special aside from the additional Amber Bloom mix.
Within a few minutes, she was done.
Now the main test began.
The officers were to drink a cup to see if it would give the same effects as every other customer. Suspense hung in the air as they each took one.
To make the investigation smart, Jayden and Harper were also asked to take a cup each.
After drinking and waiting just a few seconds, everything changed.
"Whoa," the Head of Patrol widened his eyes as soon as he noticed the great change in his body systems.
"Incredible... I don’t feel stressed anymore," the Questioning Officer added, his eyes filled with pure excitement.
"Can I have another shot?" he said, forwarding his cup to Melinda, who just couldn’t help but chuckle.
"It’s... so good! Hmmm," the Head of Patrol was also lost in amazement as their ever-dark faces brightened at that moment, like all the stress in the world had left them.
"You see... we are just as innocent as every other café out there. Just that we figured out a way to surpass them," Jayden said with an energetic tone.
He also felt a change in his body, just like Harper, but at least he could remain collected.
"We apologize for everything, Mr. Jayden and Miss Melinda. I guess it was a setup case we got, but don’t worry, we’ll definitely find out," the Questioning Officer said as he drank.
"A setup?" Melinda furrowed her brows.
"That’s what I thought, and I believe I’m not guessing wrong. But don’t worry, I know what to do too," Jayden told Melinda and attempted to leave.
Then he paused and turned.
"Make sure to reach out to Lydia and do all the stuff. You should buy some more flowers as well. Have a great day, you all," Jayden said before finally leaving.
"And you too!" the Head of Patrol shouted with an energetic tone. "Come on, give me more. I’ll pay."
Jayden left the DEA officers there as they were madly captivated by the drink, especially the espresso.
He couldn’t help but scoff. "Tch. I hope they realize quickly that they are on duty," Jayden said as he headed to his car.
Just then...
"Hey, boss!"
Jayden turned in the direction of the familiar female voice.
"Harper," he said, his eyes curious.
"Umm, sorry for calling you back, but I just wanted to tell you something," she said, slightly rolling her eyes.
"Ah, okay?" Jayden replied with a soft tone.
"I have really been a fan of yours... I mean... after hearing all the stories about you. Your father being set up, the way you rose, became a landlord from nowhere, the auction, the café, and even Zintech... I’m really looking up to you," she said, her eyes pretty sincere.
But Jayden chuckled softly. "That’s absolutely nothing, Harper. Almost everyone can do better than that," he said.
"Not even one-third of the world would dare succeed with the attempt," she replied, rolling her eyes again.
"Okay, agreed. I appreciate the fact that you’re looking up to me," Jayden smiled. "Anything else?"
"Uhh, no... not really... but..." Harper suddenly felt her lips getting heavy. It was like she was nervous to say something, and Jayden already sensed it, reacting with a slight glare.
"Uhm, okay. I was thinking we should have some time together someday. I mean, as a fan, I would love to spend some time with my idol," Harper finally summoned enough courage.
’Tsk... Pervert,’ Jayden scoffed inwardly, but was smooth on the outside.
"Uhm, I’m really busy these days, but okay... here’s my card," he brought out his card and handed it to her.
"Call me anytime from next week. I hope I won’t be too busy by then," he said.
Harper collected it excitedly. Even though next week seemed a little bit far, she was pretty fine with it.
The good thing was that she would finally be having some time with her idol... Scratch that... her crush.
And she couldn’t be more excited at that moment.
Jayden entered his car immediately and drove off, while she watched him disappear into the distance with a red, blushing face.
"Haha! It worked! Thank you, Annabel!" she jumped in excitement before rushing back into the café.
