Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1344: Going all out
Chapter 1344: Going all out
Rain began to move around the base while looking for the command center, but as expected, finding it wouldn’t be easy. In the first place, such a thing wouldn’t be exposed since it would be easier to attack. Also, it was common sense to build a base around such a place in order to make things as convenient as possible and easy to command from that place.
Although Rain was able to see the city working by itself and see the vehicles flying around transporting their cargo, they only moved between some points, and occasionally, they arrived and left the planet... he couldn’t use them as a reference to find the command center.
"I guess we will have to cause some chaos before anything," Rain thought. "If I remain hidden while everyone makes some mayhem... it will be easier to find the command center."
Despite understanding the tactical advantage of using his friends and family to create chaos while he remained hidden, Rain couldn’t shake the discomfort and unease that gnawed at his conscience. While their enhanced abilities and growth offered them a degree of safety, Rain couldn’t ignore the inherent risks and dangers involved in using them as bait.
As much as his logical side urged him to prioritize the mission’s success and strategic objectives, Rain couldn’t bring himself to disregard the well-being of his companions. They were more than just pawns in a game; they were his friends and his family, and he couldn’t bear the thought of placing them in harm’s way without hesitation and only for convenience’s sake.
Despite that, Rain remained conflicted, torn between the practicality of the plan and his moral compass. He couldn’t betray his principles or sacrifice his integrity for the sake of victory, even in the face of such dire circumstances.
"it looks like Sealyn wants to talk with you," Sakaki said.
"... You’d better not have told her anything," Rain furrowed his eyebrows.
"I can’t use Telepathy, remember?" Sakaki said and then sighed. "One doesn’t need to be a genius to know what you are thinking. Don’t they know you for many years already?"
Rain sighed as well. That was a bit annoying, but it couldn’t be helped... Besides, that wasn’t all bad news.
"Dad, we will attack the base and distract the monsters and machines that the enemies have here," Sealyn declared.
"All right, go wild and destroy everything," Rain said.
"I thought for certain that you were conflicted about that..." Sealyn said.
"I was, but if you guys volunteer to do the job, there is nothing to worry about," Rain said. "You all are strong enough to deal with.
That was true, but Sealyn and everyone else couldn’t help but sigh... Rain was so weird at times. Why worry about the implications of his choices when the results would be obvious and the best possible? In that sense, he was really a pain in the ass to deal with.
As Iori canceled his pocket dimension, a sudden influx of three hundred thousand people materialized within the city, their presence transforming the once eerily silent streets into a bustling hive of chaos. The sheer scale of their arrival was awe-inspiring as the cityscape became inundated with a sea of people, each one poised and ready for action.
With a collective roar, the assembled warriors surged forward, their voices rising in a cacophony of shouts and battle cries that echoed through the metallic corridors of the city. The ground trembled beneath their feet as they charged ahead, their movements synchronized and purposeful, like a well-oiled machine.
With a burst of magic, spells erupted from their outstretched hands, arcs of energy lancing through the air and striking their targets with deadly accuracy. Buildings trembled and crumbled under the onslaught, their metal facades buckling and warping from the force of the magical onslaught.
Countless buildings fell and revealed those giant robots that also felt thanks to the damage caused... some others opened and the robots began to move, but soon they were bombarded by magic and only lasted for a couple of moments. That was good. After seeing that much, Rain was ready to leave the area and look for the command center.
"With this much mana being used, we won’t be noticed," Sakaki declared. "Pierce the ground with me, and then I will find the command center."
Rain nodded and struck the ground with the javelin. Before long, lightning bolts began to be fired by the weapon while Sakaki was looking for any intel that they could use... but soon he stopped.
"It is below us... at the very base of the structure... which is five hundred kilometers deep underground," Sakaki said.
Five hundred kilometers...their cannon that Rain and the others almost destroyed was that big, but... that was insane. The machine gods didn’t mess around planning and building their empire. Regardless, reaching that deep underground wouldn’t be easy even for Rain, with all that metal on the way, but he didn’t have any other choice.
As Rain equipped the ominous sword and equipped the wrath path, a vortex of darkness enveloped him, shrouding his form in an aura of ominous power. In the next moment, he leaped upward, his descent swift and purposeful as he aimed to pierce through the floor of the base like a mighty spear.
At first, Rain encountered little resistance as he descended, his momentum carrying him effortlessly through the layers of metal and machinery. However, as he delved deeper into the heart of the base, he soon felt the corrupt magic being drained at an alarming rate, slowing his progress significantly.
Despite the formidable power of the ominous sword and the wrath path, the sheer depth and density of the base presented a formidable obstacle. Each layer of metal and machinery proved to be a formidable barrier, sapping away Rain’s strength and resolve as he pushed onward, determined to reach his destination at the very core of the structure.
"What now?" Rain thought. "To think that even our wrath combined wouldn’t be enough..."
