Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1092: Winner
"I need to try harder, huh?" Rain thought.
His friend was showing his skills and trying to improve them against him, Rain had the duty to show him the right spirit and also help him a bit on the way. That is what friends are for…
"I can't use magic, so the full power of this can't be used, but this will be enough for now," Rain said. "Well, I am not sure I can use this without killing him in the process as well, so better not take any chances."
Jori changed again while swinging down his arm. Still, Rain didn't change his posture and just waited for the attack… much to everyone's surprise, Jori stopped his attack just when he was about to hit Rain. He bit his lips for some reason and flinched… in the next moment, Rain's right fight began to bleed.
The attacks had been so fast that no one saw what truly happened. They rubbed their eyes when they saw Jori stepping back. He broke his posture for a moment and then massaged his right arm… it felt like he was in pain, so everyone assumed that Rain blocked his attack with his fists somehow… even without touching it.
"It must be a new technique…" Jori thought. "I was expecting him to use that super fast movement speed technique of low reach, but… this is fine too. He is starting to take things seriously."
Jori smirked, but his smirk soon disappeared from his face when Rain made his move… Rain stepped in with Impulse and swung his fist toward Jori's face… the attack seemed really slow, so Jori easily blocked it with his left elbow. When Jori raised his right arm to strike again, something smashed his left cheek, and then he was pushed backward.
After taking several steps back, Jori blinked and stared at Rain in confusion… he had no idea how he had been hit.
Despite the confusion and the stinging sensation on his cheek, Jori could tell that Rain had used a new technique. The initial exchange had left him intrigued but cautious. He had expected Rain to showcase his signature super-fast movement of low reach, but what Rain displayed seemed different. It was a calculated move, and Jori sensed that Rain was taking the fight more seriously.
However, as Rain approached for another strike, Jori felt a sense of confidence. He didn't believe that Rain could surprise him again so easily. After all, Rain was restricted by the tournament rules, preventing the use of complex magical techniques. Jori reasoned that whatever Rain was attempting had to be simple, adhering to the rules.
"Unveiling this should be easy…" Jori thought.
It was a bit risky, but Jori moved his left arm to the side and opened his guard a bit… he knew a quick way to see what Rain was doing. As soon as Rain charged again, he swung both of his arms like swords to strike him. Rain blocked both attacks with his fists, and they received deep cuts once more, making them bleed.
However, Jori was still hit in the chin, and then he was pushed upward and then spun in the air before falling to the ground.
When everyone saw that, they were dumbfounded… at that point in time, they could only assume that Rain used magic. It was impossible for him to have three arms. He definitely didn't use his head to attack, and his stance didn't allow him to use kicks either…
Despite the surprise, Jori quickly got up while showing a serious expression… he assumed his fighting stance again, but soon he wobbled to the side. The attack got him good, and he wasn't in perfect condition yet… a good hit on the chin had that power…
"He didn't attack with his hands… and Rain wouldn't cheat," Jori thought. "Using my arms as swords leaves me a bit vulnerable, so perhaps I should change my plans a bit."
Going all out was a bit too risky… Still, Jori knew a way to cause a lot of damage without risking cleaving Rain in two. When Jori looked ready for the continuation, Rain stepped in and tried to punch his face… he opened his eyes widely when Jori opened his arms and then quickly closed them on a double swing.
Rain's forearms were hit, and he felt them being smashed… Jori gave up on the sharpness of his technique to give more speed. Thanks to that, the power behind his attacks increased in exchange for the slash damage that it could have caused… Rain's arms broke immediately since he felt like he had been smashed by two titanium walls.
Jori smirked in satisfaction, but soon his body bent forward as something hit his stomach… this time, he fell with his face on the ground and stayed unconscious for several seconds.
The arena fell into stunned silence as Rain stood there, seemingly unchanged but with his arms broken, while Jori crumpled to the ground. Once again, no one saw or understood what Rain had done. His body hadn't moved in any way, and to the onlookers, it looked as if Jori had been struck by an invisible force.
The people who knew Rain well, including his family and close friends, tried to use their Magic Eyes after the first mysterious attack. However, even with their enhanced vision, they couldn't see any magical activation or detect the source of the impact. Rain's technique remained an enigma, leaving the spectators in confusion and awe.
Despite the lack of clarity on how Rain had executed his moves, the judges declared him the winner of the match. The announcement echoed through the arena, and the audience erupted into a mixture of cheers and confused murmurs.
Jori, after a brief period of unconsciousness, stirred and slowly got back on his feet. His expression shifted from confusion to acknowledgment as he realized the outcome of the duel. Although he had taken the opportunity to test his skills and had achieved some success, Rain's unconventional techniques had proven too much for him.
