Cassius could tell that Lucifer wasn't lying. However, this only raised more questions in his mind.

Yet before he could delve deeper into the truth, it was already too late…

The Heavenly Progenitor smirked.

RUMBLE—!

"!?!?" "!?!?" "!??"

Suddenly, the world began to violently rumble. The sky turned dark. The clouds deformed. The sound of glass shattering echoed.

The expressions of the Holy Mother Spirit and the 12 Ancestors of Yggdrasil drastically changed. They all reached out in an attempt to prevent the inevitable, but there was no point—it was already too late.

"What have you done!?" the Holy Mother Spirit's anger soared as she glared dangerously at the Heavenly Progenitor. "There is no going back now!! You've doomed us all!!!"

Everyone was now looking at the smirking Heavenly Progenitor, their expressions varying.

A loud, delirious laugh carried through the air. Clutching his face, the Heavenly Father's insane smile peeked through the cracks in his fingers.

Cassius frowned.

Adam Steele's face contorted in a mixture of emotions.

'I knew that bastard wouldn't sit still! And now he has…'

Lines of black streaked across Adam's face as he stared up at the fractured sky. It looked like the world was collapsing in on itself—and that wasn't far from the truth.

The Great Nexus Event had descended early.

And the magnitude of it had somehow been multiplied by hundreds of times, with the following consequences impossible to guess…

"Why are you all looking at me like that??" the Heavenly Father laughed like a madman, stretching out his arms as if to welcome the apocalyptic scene above. "Is this not more exciting than some kid ultimately marrying a precious Princess of Yggdrasil!? Haha!!"

The powerhouses of the 8 Ascension Towers gnashed their teeth in fury while glaring at the comical figures bathed in golden light. Mikaela and the other Archangels, on the other hand, were like deer in headlights, unsure of what to do. Even their breathing stopped.

Their Father… Their Creator…

He was trying to bring about the end of the world…?

But… But why…!?

"Why!?" Mikaela was the first to shout, her five pairs of pearly-white wings spreading out with melancholic splendor. "Why are you doing this, Father!?"

Lucifer was no longer concerned with his state of paralysis. He wanted to know the answer as well.

Everyone did.

CRACK—!

As the stability of the Ascension Tower rapidly declined, with whole pieces of the sky falling onto its denizens, the Holy Mother Spirit clutched her head. The pain the world was feeling was immense, and she could feel every bit of it.

"Why, you ask??" The Heavenly Father quit laughing, anger surging inside him. "Is that a joke!?"

He directed a terrifying expression of wrath at the Yggdrasil Ancestors. They shivered, having never felt such profound hatred before.

"I did this because of THEM!!!" The Heavenly Father looked as if he had lost his mind, his eyes consumed with the purest form of rage. "They destroyed the Bridge of Immortality before anyone could even use it!! If you want to blame anyone for what's about to happen next, then blame them!!! Haha!! I've prepared a big surprise for everyone here, you know!? I'm sure you'll love it!!"

"YOU!!!!"

The Holy Mother Spirit lashed out with the power of Yggdrasil. Extremely powerful waves of energy rushed in from every direction, targeting the Heavenly Father.

However, in response to an attack that could instantly wipe out a normal Half-step Beyond Godlike Entity, the Heavenly Progenitor's smirk merely widened. He made no move to defend against the Holy Mother's formidable assault.

OOOM!

No one was able to see what had happened after the Heavenly Progenitor was hit by waves of Yggdrasil energy. The heavens were blinded by the breadth of the attack, with neither light nor sound able to register the damage.

However, when the residual energies started to disperse, the powerhouses of Yggdrasil were baffled to find the Heavenly Progenitor floating without a scratch on him. His mocking smirk incensed them all, his laughter akin to the grating sound of chalk against a board.

"Did you honestly believe I hadn't thoroughly prepared before going through with this!?" The Heavenly Father laughed like he'd just heard the funniest joke in the world. "To enter the True Path of Immortality, which I've yearned for since the beginning of time, I've made every possible sacrifice!! For millions of years, I've done everything possible to reach the most desired outcome!!"

"But for the majority of that time, every end result I foresaw fell short of what I wanted..." The Heavenly Father suddenly snapped his head in Cassius's direction. "That was until a certain someone was born into this caged universe. Little Cassius Steele. The key to my freedom and Ascension."

Without exception, everyone turned to look at the deeply frowning Cassius.

He had already released control over Lucifer's body, now wholly focused on the Heavenly Progenitor.

By now, Cassius realized he had been played for a fool…

Since the very first moment he met the Ice Sovereign on the 0th Floor of the Ascension Tower, he had been but a mere piece in a much larger chessboard.

Opening up the Heavenly Progenitor's system interface further soured Cassius's mood:

{[GOD/Heavenly Progenitor/Humanly Progenitor]}

[Cultivation: Beyond Half-step Godlike]

[Battle Prowess: Beyond Half-step Godlike] – (Unquestionably high)

[Age: As Old as the Common Timeline of the Ascension Tower, with very few older than him]

[Mood: Ecstatic] – (A very confusing Entity)

—[Throughout Space and Time, God is unrivaled in terms of creation. As one who pioneered creation at the beginning of the Ascension Tower's Original Era, even the Ancient Ancestor Scions of the Holy Sanctuary of Yggdrasil are inferior in this regard.]

—[His history is riddled with holes and unknowns, and he has often taken on various seemingly useless identities for Immortality-related reasons. One of such identities was the Ice Sovereign, and he did so because Cassius Steele was the key to his journey to Immortality. Or more specifically, the Heavenly Progenitor was after… his… sister…]

—[Yearns for Immortality beyond the Universal Treasure he considers a large birdcage. He wants a world where even the Dissonants are below inconsequential.]

When Cassius reached the part concerning the intentions of the Heavenly Progenitor, a never-before-seen spur of anger welled up from the very core of his being. This anger forced shadows over his face, with his eyes blackening to match the shades of the abyss.

"My sister…"

Cassius peered into the heavenly secrets, instantly learning of the existence of his little sister. Born from the same father and mother as him. His blood-related sister.

This would normally be a revelation to be surprised or happy about, but right now, the only thing prevailing within Cassius's mind was an abyssal hatred. His killing intent exploded outward, making even Godlike powerhouses turn as white as sheets of paper.

"You dare?" His voice, sounding like it came straight from the depths of the coldest abyss, pierced through the Heavenly Progenitor's crazy countenance. "To target my family. Tell me, old benefactor of mine, how is it you wish to die?"

RUMBLE!!!

"A scary one you are, young Cassius." After the initial surprise, the Heavenly Progenitor was back to seeing everything as one big joke. "But you should know better than I how this world operates. It's survival of the fittest. I had no choice, really. I'm sure you understand—"

*Fwooopp!*

BOOOOM!

Cassius slashed out with Lilith at full power, his speed exceeding the conceivable parameters of the Ascension Tower.

However, even though the result created an endless gash in the sky that erased time and space alike, the Heavenly Progenitor was still standing…

"Who could've guessed that you'd become so strong in such a short period of time!" The Heavenly Progenitor faded in and out of reality like an incorporeal ghost, making the Holy Mother Spirit's eyes widen in realization. "But unfortunately for you or any other insignificant figure here, none of you can so much as touch me unless I will it. I would tell you why that is right now, but I think it'd be better to just show you—bahahaha!!"

WAAAA!

From the countless cracks in the sky, cosmic astral winds seeped in. They were followed by the rumbling of a loud, organic engine.

Dread quickly drained the color from everyone's faces as they looked to the skies. Absolute horror followed suit.

From one end to the other of the golden-blue heavens, there were spaceships lined up like the harbingers of the dawn of annihilation. There were thousands of millions of them, their numbers incomparable to the invasion witnessed on the 0th Floor of the Humanity Ascension Tower.

That was when those in Yggdrasil—and every other living organism in the 8 Ascension Towers—heard the utterly terrifying robotic voice belonging to the unimaginably large spaceship that couldn't even fit all the way into the World:

"Feeble Mortals of this Treasured Item, submit now and receive better treatment in the breeding farms. Otherwise, face the consequences of your actions—"

OOOM!

"!!!" "!!!" "!!!"

This time, even Cassius felt an unparalleled sense of dread. It was unlike anything he'd ever felt before—a difference vaster than that of Heaven and Earth.

Everyone else felt this as well—but at even worse levels. They all looked away from the massive half-organic, half-robotic spaceship, their eyes falling on a small, almost unnoticeable crack in space in a random corner of the sky.

"This…"

The Dissonant Mothership froze in fear. The same thing happened for the rest of the Dissonants when they viewed the unfathomable being coming out of the small crack in space. The word "Retreat!" immediately formed in all their minds—but it mattered not.

They were too scared to move even an inch.

In the world outside the Ascension Tower, they were at the very bottom of the food chain. Actually, they weren't even that…

'Finally, HE's here!!!'
