I transmigrated and got a husband and a son!-Chapter 1203: Finally, some time alone.
Chapter 1203: Finally, some time alone.
"This is all?" Wolf furrowed his brows, staring at the people his men gathered in the living area of the mansion. "The Ashton’s are smaller than I expected."
To be honest, he was expecting a big family. But it turns out the Ashton only had six living members of the family. The rest that was included in their investigation died not so long ago.
"Fine, never mind." Wolf waved dismissively, sitting on the armchair.
He gazed at the six people seated around, which included the head of the family and the youngest family member, who was only around thirteen. However, Wolf couldn’t feel the need to talk nicely because there was one thing this family had in common: their lack of fear. Even the youngest didn’t seem scared.
’Their entire inner security was breached and fell, yet they didn’t show the slightest fear,’ Wolf thought.
"Mr. Ashton, I presume you already know who we are and where we are from," said Wolf to the oldest man within the group. "I don’t want us to waste our time."
Mr. Ashton looked at the old man sharply. "We are not supporting Hera Cruel as the new head of the Oxley Family. Even if you kill —" The man’s sentence was cut short and so was his life when a bullet went through his forehead.
"Who’s next in line after him?" Wolf placed down his pistol, scanning the faces around. This time, their lack of fear was laced with surprise. It was the first time they showed a different expression aside from the stoic one.
"Who will succeed him if he dies?" he asked again, only to see the youngest point at a young man. Wolf looked at the young man sternly and repeated his opening remarks. "Mr. Ashton, I presume you already know who we are and where we are from. Don’t waste our time."
The young man gulped. "What does Hera Cruel want?"
Unlike his father, this young man quickly recovered from his shock. He recomposed himself and stared at Wolf sharply.
"What Hera wants is simple, Mr. Ashton," Wolf said. "The question is, can you fulfill it?"
"I will if I can. However, I need to know where she is."
Wolf raised a brow. "Don’t worry about my boss’s whereabouts."
"It is my concern now since I became the Head because of her," the young man uttered. "I am saying this because I am willing to show my support to her. I cannot do that if she’s dead. If my assumptions are correct, since she sent her people in here, that means she must be on Oxley Island?"
’This kid is smart!’ Wolf almost clapped. ’How come his father hadn’t let him take charge?’
"My father is supposed to attend an emergency meeting with the other families," the young man continued. "I’ll attend it to put my vote on Hera. However, that isn’t our concern right now. If she sent half of her forces to subdue the Ashton, it only means only half of her forces are in there. It is not enough to take down Florence."
"You don’t worry about that, kiddo."
"I do have to," he argued adamantly. "I don’t know if you are aware of this, but the Oxley Family’s power steadily dwindled in recent years. This is not because Florence is losing her power, but rather, she has been gathering people from outside the secret society."
Wolf furrowed his brows. They already concluded Florence was spreading her powers outside the secret society, but not what the man was saying.
"In other words, Florence was slowly killing the Oxley Family and was trying to build a new one," the young man added. "It’s the reason the late head of our family chose to take her side and schemed to kill Ulysses Ebonhart. Therefore, I need to know where she is so I can send our remaining forces. As you can tell, the guards here are smaller than you would’ve expected. We have more stationed in the main branch of the family. You got us during our so-called vacation."
"This meeting place..." Wolf’s face darkened. "... where is it?"

[Oxley Island]
The rounds of fires continued to rage within and outside the mansion. Explosions were heard now and then.
Hera had met quite the hindrances on her way to where Florence was. It was easy, but after quite some time, she felt a little beaten down by all the sliding, jumping, rolling, and fighting. Her speed, however, didn’t slow down at all.
BANG!
Hera sat on a man’s chest and pressed her muzzle on his forehead. She pulled the trigger without a second hesitation.
She hadn’t even taken another breath when she heard footsteps from the front and back.
"I feel like I’m fighting zombies — they won’t stop coming!"
Hera raised both her hands in each direction, holding her rifles still. After a moment, she pulled the trigger simultaneously, taking down whoever that would come out. At this point, she might not reach Florence.
Feeling the irritation rising in her brain, Hera grabbed the grenade from the man underneath her. He bit the pin and threw it behind her before she sprinted as fast as she could ahead. As she did so, she caught more figures coming out of the end turn with their weapons ready to shoot anyone.
But they weren’t the only ones ready to shoot.
Taking advantage of being the moving target, Hera shot first until she reached the end turn. By the time she slid to the right, a loud explosion made the walls shake. She took cover for a while, only to catch a spark from her side. novelbuddy.cσ๓
"Shit!" Hera quickly grabbed the person beside her and slid underneath it, listening to the continuous rounds of fire. Upon checking, it wasn’t only one person, but three. Hence, she patiently waited until she was sure they were the last people who would come in this direction.
Without further ado, Hera slid her rifle to their side, still hiding underneath a lifeless body. The first shot went through the first man, and the other two shot randomly as they didn’t know where it came from. Those two wouldn’t have found out because the next two fires killed them instantly.
"Hah!" Hera pushed the body off of her before she rolled on her tummy. "I should’ve agreed to Tiger and let him come with me. He would’ve cleared the path for me."
Shaking her head, Hera pushed herself up and made her way into the control room. She was already near, so within minutes, she found herself in front of the control room. With one kick on the door, Hera immediately caught Florence all alone.
"Finally, some time alone."
