Chapter 1168: Aren’t on the same page
"Dominic Zhu? Are you Dominic Zhu? Can we talk? My name is Charlotte Oxley and my mother doesn’t know I am here."
"A... men." Axel held his breath as he arched a brow. He blinked and blinked, staring at the young lady he mistook as a ghost.
Who wouldn’t mistake her as a ghost? Why was she in her nightdress in the middle of the parking space and in the middle of the night and why was she so pale!? Doubtful, Axel raised a finger and slowly moved it closer to her.
Charlotte furrowed her brows, not moving an inch until his index poked her cheek. She blinked innocently, confused. Axel poked her cheek one more time and then poked her faster until he could feel the little flesh in her cheek bouncing.
"Oh, you’re alive." Axel rocked his head, heaving a sigh of relief. "I thought for a second I accidentally opened my third eye."
"???" Charlotte slowly tilted her head to the side. ’I thought Dominic Zhu is a scary man, but he’s a little... goofy.’
"Anyway, before anything else." Axel cleared his throat and then suddenly glared at her. "Why did you come up on me like that?! Are you trying to give me a heart attack? And why are you so pale?! I thought if you’re not a ghost, you’re a zombie!"
"But... zombies look horrendous. If I came to eat your brains, I should’ve traces of flesh in my mouth. And I should be growling too."
Axel pondered and then nodded. "That’s right. Zombies don’t fit."
"A vampire fits, though," she suggested. "They say vampires have pale skin, or maybe a shapeshifter. An evil shapeshifter."
"A vampire makes more sense." Axel nodded, only to freeze when he realized this was not the time for this nonsense. His eyes quickly blazed in anger, making the young lady flinch when he glared daggers at her. "Tch! I don’t have time for this! Move away, you beggar! I don’t have a penny."
"Wait!" Charlotte clasped his arm to stop him from getting into the car. "I need to talk to you, Mr. Zhu!"
Axel scrunched up his nose in dismay. "You’re not the first to need to talk to me. I don’t have time for you."
"This is important!" Charlotte clasped his arm, but with his strength, she could only back away from the car. She held her fist closer to her chest, watching the light beam as the car started driving away.
"Mr. Dominic Zhu..." she whispered helplessly, watching the car’s rear until it looked smaller.
Her brows slowly rose when the car suddenly stopped. She watched it speed backward until it was on her side. Charlotte blinked, confused, watching Axel step out of the driver’s seat.
"Hey," he called, resting his arm over the roof. "Did you just say you’re an Oxley?"
"Ye — yes, that’s what I said," she blurted out. "My name is Charlotte Oxley, and I need to talk to you, Mr. Dominic Zhu."
Axel slowly arched a brow, assessing the young lady from head to toe. "You are Florence’s daughter?" he asked because Florence did mention her daughter. Though Florence didn’t tell more, she did mention having a daughter.
"Yes." Charlotte nodded profusely. "You met with my mother today, didn’t you?"
"You said she doesn’t know you’re here... what do you mean by that?"
Charlotte pursed her lips into a thin line while fidgeting with her fingers. Seeing the reluctance in her eyes, Axel let out a shallow breath.
"Get in," he said, making her perk up a little. "Let’s talk on the way, but don’t you dare think of doing anything silly. I’m going to kick you out in the middle of the road if you pull off anything like that."

When Axel found out that Florence was Hera’s auntie, somehow, things just made sense. It not only explained their resemblance in appearance, but it also made sense in many areas. Hera had a strong personality, backed by real skills. Florence was also the same.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that both of them were alphas in their own game. If anything, it should be expected. So, it was surprising that Florence’s own daughter was... like this. Unlike Hera and Florence, who were like lioness and tigress in the jungle, Charlotte was akin to a little bunny.
The difference was too great, even a blind would notice it.
"So?" Axel drove around the area without any destination in mind. If this young lady was Florence’s daughter, taking her away might cause some misunderstanding. "Are you going to speak or waste my time? Because if it’s the latter, then I’m dragging you back to your mother."
"Please, stop her." Charlotte turned and faced Axel squarely. "Targeting Hera Cruel is a mistake. Stop her from doing so."
Axel arched a brow as he cast her a sidelong glance. "Are you hearing yourself, Miss Oxley? Does your mother know her own daughter wanted to sabotage her plans?"
"I’m not trying to sabotage her plans. I’m trying to save her."
"Well, if you do, why not go to her?"
"I already did, but she shut me off." Charlotte pursed her lips into a thin line. "Then, if you don’t want to stop her, help me."
Silence ensued after her quiet remark while Axel pondered about it. This girl mistook him for his brother, which meant she knew nothing about this transaction. Or perhaps she simply knew very little information.
"That way, you’d save yourself and your entire family," Charlotte sounded like she was about to whimper. "Let me talk to my cousin. Nigel promised that he’d relay my message, but I don’t think he’d be able to do that. I need to talk to Hera and tell her everything."
Axel frowned and pulled over to the side of the road. "Miss Charlotte Oxley, I don’t think you have any idea that you’re asking the wrong person," he said, facing her with furious eyes. "Hera Cruel is our family’s enemy. Your mother and I wanted one thing, and that is Hera’s demise. I’m telling you this because I feel sorry for Florence for having such a naive daughter."
"But —"
"Enough," he hissed. "I’m taking you back to your mother. You’ve wasted plenty of my time already."
Charlotte’s lips quivered as she clasped her hands on her lap, eyes on Axel’s sharp eyes. "You and my mother... aren’t on the same page, Mr. Zhu. You don’t know what she truly wants, nor the other four families. If any of the four families get to Hera first, it’ll be a bloody war based solely on the truth they twisted to take down my mother and every last member of our family, including me and Hera."
